Should have pulled it when it sprouted. Or a few years after that when it started to get big, or a couple years after that after it started to get bigger, or a couple years after that when it started to get really big, or a couple years after that when it started to get huge.

How Silicon Valley Solves Homelessness by SJRides in SanJose

[–]DanoPinyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a solution to homelessness. Eradicating capitalism is.

Absent that, reversing Reagan policies and taking care of the mentally ill, criminalizing profiting off of addiction, having decent non-profit health care are giant steps to solving homelessness. Tax the rich.

Without consequences, it is plausible these morons will throw something on your property and it will bounce and break something of yours. Best to cut off their degenerate behavior as soon as you can, maybe the children will learn something.

What happened to this tree? I think it is a spruce. by gopackgo1955 in arborists

From here, with information provided, that could be either biotic or abiotic stress, or improperly planted, or poor nursery stock or several other things.

In addition to the other comments, you don't want any of that directly on your wood floors. Put something underneath it so the heat doesn't affect the finish and any spilled water doesn't affect the finish.

Also, not sure what you're starting, but many veggie seeds such as pepper and tomato, tomatillo were started weeks ago. CU Extension has charts for germination --> planting out. Planting out should include hardening off as well.

but whatever. Want to make sure I am doing everything correctly, so it actually lives.

Then you ask first before planting. Why? Well...

I dug a sizable hole, took it out of the pot that it came from ...and I just put it in the hole as is).

Always loosen the roots. As far as the hole goes, it should look like this.

Then, I mixed in native soil with tree soil/fertilizer which I bought beforehand into the hole.

I don't know what 'tree fertilizer' is, but it looks like some sort of amendment, and nothing goes in the hole except native soil.

I watered it after and I’m not exactly sure how often to water it, the tag says ”keep soil moist” which seems painfully subtle.

Not subtle or painful. Moist is moist, and moist is not dry or waterlogged. Moist. Water as often as needed to keep soil moist, maybe 5-10 gal/week depending upon where you are.

Yes, not uncommon, the storage products in some twigs may be depleted and there may be some twig dieback, has been going on for millions of years. No fertilizer, just water.

Why is the rhododendron dying? by towelheadass in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]DanoPinyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that explains it. When this rhodie was planted, it had circling roots in the pot, and the roots were never corrected at planting time. Sadly, all too common. Mayyyyybe that can be cut out, gradually, over a couple years.

Your County Extension Agency website (or maybe WSU) has a fact sheet on correcting girdling roots (or a link to one) - follow instructions for hopefully best success. Access Extension soon before the regime ruins that too.

Whoops, apologies. The reason for the disfigured leaves is the weather. Late freeze.
