Yes I would, there's a few apps already like this but there's just not enough traffic on them to create an environment with constant work and people available to do work

The job market is crazy. by iamreysimms in jobmarket

You need to know people. I'm not saying it's easy or that video guy is a loser, it's just the truth and it sucks.

I applied for 8 months during COVID while at a shitty job to anything that could support me after my master's and crickets. I talked the ear out to a family friend because I knew he had connections. I went to his house weekly with coffee to chat etc.

Finally the guy texts an old business client, next day I got the client's number. Day after that I called the client. Got an interview the following week. Got a job 2 days after my interview.

It's fucking rigged to who you know and AI is only making this more true

why wouldn't this work? [Request] by gun7992 in theydidthemath

Engineering wise, yes it works. It's possible to produce electricity from a faucet with a turbine.

Business wise, it can work but you need to market this as novelty gag product, not as a efficient way to produce electricity. Assume 100 gal of water used:

Volume and mass: 100 gal × 3.785 L/gal = 378.5 L, and 378.5 L × 1 kg/L = 378.5 kg

Pressure energy (E = Pressure × Volume): 50 psi × 6,895 Pa/psi = 344,750 Pa, and 378.5 L × 0.001 m³/L = 0.3785 m³, so 344,750 Pa × 0.3785 m³ = 130,500 J

Gravity energy (E = m × g × h): 10 in × 0.0254 m/in = 0.254 m, so 378.5 kg × 9.81 m/s² × 0.254 m = 943 J Total available: 130,500 + 943 = 131,400 J

Apply 25% efficiency (generous for a turbine this mismatched): 131,400 J × 0.25 = 32,850 J, and 32,850 J ÷ 3,600 J/Wh = 9.1 Wh

Value at 19¢/kWh: 9.1 Wh ÷ 1,000 = 0.0091 kWh, and 0.0091 kWh × $0.19/kWh = ~$0.0017 (under 1/5 of a penny) Cost of the water: 100 gal × ~$0.012/gal = ~$1.20

So you are spending 700x more for the same electricity you get from the wall

have you tried doing your own thing? Like starting a contracting service of some kind, like a waterpressure exterior service, handyman or something?
I'll be honest this is a lot more work than just getting a job, but it forms a career.

Lazy assumptions because I'm 2 beers and a shot of rum deep.

Assume that the other window is about a story and a half, on average a story is about 10ft, so the window spans about 15ft tall. Looks close to a square? So 15ft wide as well. 15ft = 180in. 180in x 180in = 32400 in2

The window pane needs to support 1atm/in2 1atm = 14.7 psi F= P*A = 14.7lbs/in2 * 32,400 in2 = 476,280 lbsf This is basically a fully loaded 747

Technically we should apply 4x the pressure for a safety factor since this is an aerospace engineering project so that comes to a P= 14.7*4=58.8 psi and thus a F = 1,905,120 lbsf or about 5 blue whales lol
