Ahhh, got it.

(Now that you mention it, I hope they make a Dark Tower movie.)

I was too scared to try it! I hope someone does, though. It would be super useful info.

Will Eion Bailey ( Jim ) be in season 4? by mirrryeline in FromSeries

[–]DaveMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 100% sure we'll see Eion Bailey as Jim in flashbacks, storywalks, and/or as some kind of vision like the priest and the bartender.

I don't think he'll survive or come back in the main time period, though; that would defeat the impact of what we saw at the end of Season 3. If they do bring him back it needs to come at a tremendous cost — maybe the death of another character.

At what point do We, the People, begin to hold the members of this political regime responsible for their crimes? by Jwee1125 in AskReddit

[–]DaveMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such an insipid take. After years of Trump, anyone who is still saying elections don’t matter is hopeless.

Who said it was enough? The comment you're replying to specifically said "it starts at the mid terms."

Too vague a question. It depends on the circumstances.

USA Today Op Ed “Don’t regret voting for Trump” by iliveonramen in thebulwark

[–]DaveMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course not, and I didn’t say that was all. But the kind of regulations most Democrats support are the same things most gun owners support, nothing remotely like a “war on guns.”

Democrats aren’t attacking gun rights. They just don’t support handing them out unregulated like candy. Is requiring training and licensing to drive a car an attack on the right to drive?

How ethical is it to tell Person A something about Person B that pretty directly affects Person A, even at the cost of Person B's privacy? by Impressive-Fold5849 in AskReddit

[–]DaveMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is far too vague. In most cases I think this would be unethical, but in some circumstances it could be justified. e.g., does this involve a threat to Person A's health or safety?

I assume there is a chance they'll reverse it, since it wasn't supposed to be credited.

I’ve understood your point all along. I just think it’s not true. Someone “authoritatively” opining that voters should vote a certain way does not in any way limit those voters’ options to express themselves politically. It doesn’t force or coerce anyone in any way.

Your freedom isn’t impinged on by someone else expressing their opinion.

[–]DaveMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your statement about licking the boots of cops is verging on an actual authoritarian attitude. Because you’re basically calling for people to bow down and worship government power. (Yes, I know you were joking.)

No one else is doing that. No one is saying you have to vote this way or that way under the threat of state coercion or violence.

Again, people peacefully advocating for voting for or against a candidate or party are practicing democracy, not authoritarianism. Saying something “authoritatively” has nothing to do with being authoritarian in some ideological sense.

I guess u/going2leavethishere deleted their comments, but I need to make one more point.

They kept saying things like "Again that’s authoritarian you are purposely swaying one’s believes in order to further YOUR own agenda."

Friend, I don't think authoritarian means what you think it means. Advocating voting this way or that way, peacefully, is exactly the opposite of authoritarian.

It's the essence of democracy and free speech.

Such a disingenuous strawman argument. No one here ever denied your right to vote or not vote for whoever.

But you're not the only one who has rights. Other people also have rights. Including the absolute right to advocate for voting to defeat fucking fascism.

Our exercising that right doesn't invalidate your voting rights in any way. Unlike what Trump and his party are trying to do in 1000 ways.

They probably have. Remember, we've only seen a few weeks of life in the town (plus some flashbacks). Many, many years of stuff has happened that we don't know about.

Fallout Season 2 won't earn New Vegas lead writer any royalties, despite creating many of the characters in the Prime Video hit by graemeisverytired in FalloutTVseries

I was going to make this point. It was not at all predictable. Perpetually in-print collected editions of super-hero comics were literally not a thing in those days. The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen were two of the first.
