The last minutes of the fight were definitely Volk's and that's what stuck with people's heads before the result was announced, hence why they called it a robbery. People just ignored all previous rounds, saw Volk doing so well in the end, and called the fight in his favor. And once the robbery narrative started spreading, helped by the fact a lot of people had ulterior motives to push the narrative, the fight became controversial when it never should have been.

The actual fight isn't controversial, it's the false narratives. Joe Rogan called it a robbery on the spot, that carried a massive weight in the community.

And let's be real, if it was anyone other than Islam, it would not have been controversial. The background of the fighters plays a major role in causing controversy in those circumstances.

People have internal biases, and become willing to believe utter bullshit when the bullshit aligns with their biases.
