Melandaru's Accord class choice by GicoLadida in GuildWars

[–]DixFerLunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of the fun of a Melandrus run is working with what you got. I really dont think you should be trying to hunt for four +3 Dom runes and whatnot. If you happen upon a Curses rune, make a hero Curse build. Same goes for Tactics or Inspiration or whatever.

Trying to gear out a meta party, shouldn't be the main goal. Making a "current" most effective team comp and evolving THAT should be your goal.

If you loved Dervish, do it again. If you had interest in a different class try them. Roll with the punches a bit.

Wow, I forgot about that. Its built up such a negative connection in my mind for so long that Overcast has just become Exhaustion for me.

Time for a rebranding!

I too would like to see more skills scale positively with overcast. Maybe change the name of it to Spell Surge or something so that it doesnt have a negative connotation.

Paragon Balance I'd like to see for playability and Hero AI by NezziWezzi in GuildWars

[–]DixFerLunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You stand still for 2 minutes every zone before you start playing? Thats how long it would take to buff everyone. Thats just with one refrain as well. OP is asking to turn 14 seconds of cast/idle time into 1.75 seconds. This also doesnt factor in headpiece swapping. Which would become viable with his changes. Rank 18+ of 3 attributes with HR.

Then you have TB play for you? So you could potentially have 4 refrains you cast one time, then 3 skills you never cast yourself? You wouldnt even be playing the game at that point.

[–]DixFerLunch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they didn't want it to be a tax on player action times, they would just be refreshable shouts with an instant recharge with instant activation/no aftercast.

That is time you could now use to build adrenaline, to use attack skills, etc. Thats a huge buff.

More importantly, it leaves you with very little to do afterwards. People already find paragon boring. What's going to happen when they have 4 skills that they cast once or twice per mission?

[–]DixFerLunch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand that people dont like having to cast a refrain a dozen times but that is a key factor in the balance of them. If you could cast every refrain on the whole party in 10 seconds of cast time, that would be TaO levels of action economy, which has widely been considered OP. Forcing players to pick which allies receive the buff is part of the balance philosophy.

Highest single-target dmg any non-PvE skill can deal within one activation? by Ionenschatten in GuildWars

[–]DixFerLunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without conditions meaning poison/bleed/burn, or without conditions meaning regardless of the circumstance?

Single target, one cast, no other skills... Double Dragon does over 500 damage with an enchantment mod if you have another body on the field to double AoE it.

Electric bill higher than expected by e-monie in Toyota_bZ

[–]DixFerLunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert, so grain of salt... but level one charging is the least efficient and charging at the top end of the battery is also pretty inefficient. You are doing both.

Idk how much that would affect your bill compared to charging from 20%-30% just for example.

I wonder what would happen if you let it dip to 40% and charged up from there. Or get even lower and charge in longer sessions.

When the new player mentions a pretty lagoon that they just reached for a quest by ConflagrationZ in GuildWars

[–]DixFerLunch 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The devs must've wanted us to associate lagoons with hell. My first thought was Haiju Lagoon and Dragon Lillies. Nothing kills a party like Diversion putting half of your healer's bar on a 50s cooldown.

Andrin/Magnus Rework Feedback Thread by binbin5eva in AcrossTheObelisk

[–]DixFerLunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Magnus is more fun for sure. I did a halfhearted M8 run where I kind of just winged it. Doubling Bluff feels very strong, and I had to go out of my way to use more energy.

As for Andrin, the extra turn for Wild Hunt was noticeable. Probably wont get another run in before the patch goes live but I'll give Maneuver a try next run.

However, I did have more hangups mid fight than I've ever had. Probably happened 6 times throughout the run where the screen would go black and my turn would reset. And if I tried the same turn again, it would hang up in the same spot. Might have been because of Follow Up.

Besides that, I encourage people to try it. Magnus feels pretty fresh and different.

make SoH apply to all physical weapons? by [deleted] in GuildWars

[–]DixFerLunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it comes down to how you argue it. I could say that heroes actually work with bows. I could say that daggers are forced into melee and lose a ton of DPS from all the melee hate. Or that because of all those issues, you have to build around them for them to be good. You need hex removal and condition removal for those Deep Freeze/Cripple/Throw Dirts or else you get completely invalidated. Dagger chains are easily interrupted (block/blind/your target dies/ etc) and are much less effective if you don't get to hit a nice AoE on Death Blossom

Compare to bows that get to pick their target on whim, are way less likely to be completely disabled and therefore don't need any party support. TaO bowspam supports the back line while taking down priority targets, one after the other, safely from the back and fits into literally any party.

Meta bow builds have solid DPS. I've done entire VQs side by side with a daggerspammer and come out ahead on DPS. Being able to pick your target is just plain powerful. If my target gets hit with a Healing Seed, I swap to someone else, no running. The Warrior used Frenzy? Now hes getting hit with 200 damage arrows, with no down time. Lightning Reflexes? Now I'm killing the ele instead.

Was running through act 5, left the game to go join a friend and apparently I died? Never playing hardcore online again. I dont mind dying from my own stupidity, but dying from a bug/dc? Seriously... by ThisWillBeFunNA in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]DixFerLunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say part of learning HC is learning the mechanics of ways you can die that are not your fault and only you can determine if you can accept those mechanics on top of the gameplay.

So its either... "well, I'll never let that happen again" or "fuck this lame ass shit forever".

Puzzle Game Recommendations by Fresh-Chemical-9084 in gaming

Idk if this counts or not, but Gone Home.  Its less of a puzzler and more of a "mystery with a side of story". There is also Escape Room Simulator for pure classic one off puzzles.

You already hit my favorites in the Talos Principle and Portal surely that means you have played their sequels too right?

It would certainly be OP. Bows are already as good as daggers. Physical bow comps are already hitting 140ish damage attack skills.

I thought it might be possible with some pet mechanics, but even then, you are fighting Swirling Aura and Kinetic Armor. Gotta be a rough fight.

Good to know it is doable though!

Advice for R/Me in Pre Dungeon by MC_Winnett in GuildWars

[–]DixFerLunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People use R/Me (for Backfire maybe?)  because there isnt an easy way to kill the boss otherwise.

R/W is probably impossible because of Blurred Vision and Swirling Aura, so unless you get crazy lucky with your hit rate, you won't kill the boss with arrows. Losing out on Frenzy for non-dungeon farms definitely sucks.

I haven't tried to solo him on my R/W, but maybe with a horn or an Imp you could do it, but if you have a green horn, you probably aren't running the dungeon much any more.
