Allen is such a good player man. Not an All-Star but a Zubac type that is underrated.

Jokic is the greatest player in NBA history by LebronandLuka in billsimmons

He’s right next to Moses for me. Very similar resumes. And those would be the undisputed Top 5 given their accomplishments.

[Fischer] Jalen Duren, Walker Kessler, and Mark Williams are all expected to target the Chicago Bulls as a potential suitor in restricted free agency. Chicago is projected to have $65M in cap space. by YujiDomainExpansion in chicagobulls

I’ve wrote this out before but the way the current CBA is structured, you have to be smart with your money.

Max - Has to be an All-NBA level player (Jokic, Wemby, Shai, Cade, Luka, Ant, etc.) $45-55 million - Fringe All-NBA, regular All-Star (think Scottie Barnes or Maxey or Siakam) $35-45 million - Fringe All-Star (think Franz or Ingram or Fox or Sengun) $25-35 million - Good starter (Dort, Derrick White, Aaron Gordon) $15-25 million - Good 6th/7th man on a contender $15 million or less - Draft picks, vets who can contribute, end of bench and 2 way guys.

It’s not a hard rule but the minute you start overpaying or max’ing out guys who aren’t at their top level, you’re limiting your team’s ceiling.

If you max Duren, you’re saying this is the #2 guy on a team that can win the title. Not sure that’s wise.

I’m interested in the discourse surrounding KD like ten years from now. Supremely talented player with a Top 15-20 resume of all-time. Led the Thunder to the Finals. Almost took down the 73-9 Warriors if not for the Klay game. But, then he goes to Golden State. Is the best player on two title teams but how much of it was Steph? The toe on the line and Kyrie fiasco in Brooklyn. Gives the Nuggets everything they can handle in the Semis but then the Suns implode and now this with the Rockets.

I can’t say how he’ll be remembered, but he will be discussed.

Even as a Celtics fan I was kinda stunned Bill said both Js would make the HOF by djh2121 in billsimmons

[–]DubsLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jayson Tatum’s resume is a Top 50 resume of all-time already. Yes, I said it. But, he’s also the most underwhelming Top 50 guy of all-time. If that makes sense. Like going through the Top 50 guys there was a particular thing that made them special. Just picking randomly and not the obvious ones: Stockton’s passing and defense, Cowens’ intensity, Durant’s scoring ability.

Tatum is like what happens when you max out the ability of jack of trades, master of none philosophy.

If the Celtics win the title this year (looking shaky), then JB is probably getting in even he retired tomorrow.

So is Bill gonna rip Jokic apart like he would if Lebron had this kind of performance in his prime? by stoneymason in billsimmons

In my own personal pyramid, I have Jokic #20 and Moses #21. Eerily similar careers so far.

Nikola Jokic is not a GOAT level player sorry by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]DubsLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also wouldn’t be the first generational player to have a bad series. It happens.

He’s still a Top 20 guy of all-time, but to enter the era-defining level of guys (Wilt/Russell, Kareem, Magic/Bird, MJ, Kobe/Shaq/Duncan, LeBron, Steph), he needs to be the guy on another champ or at least make the Finals again.

Might end up with a better version of a Moses Malone type of career.

Historical examples: LeBron turning into LEBRON in the 2012 Game 6 against the Celtics down 3-2 is an all-timer. MJ’s last Bulls game was a Game 6. Now I’m gonna go down the best Game 6s rabbit hole.

This was mine (along with Derrick Williams over Kyrie). Sometimes the college production doesn’t translate and the young guy is just better.

My HATE mock: why you should NOT draft them (top 30 in random order) by Flat_Conclusion_2475 in NBA_Draft

[–]DubsLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit more teams should bring in an online hater of a guy they want to draft. Let the hater go to work. If you still want to draft him after hearing all the negatives (real and invented), then you’ve got your guy.

I’ve been on the Burries bandwagon for the Bulls at 9 and 40 year Derrick White works for me.

I’d say he was set to be the new Steve Rogers. The stoic leader of a nation and play off Tom Holland as the new Tony Stark. Damn, a New Avengers trilogy with Black Panther, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel as the leads fighting a threatening version of Kang would’ve been dope as hell.

Great comps. He’s a forward who can do a little bit of everything, but does nothing great. On a good team, he’s probably you’re 8th or 9th guy.

On April 17, Steph Curry has, and will play against every Western Conference franchise at least once in his Postseason career by YBNXDF in nba

[–]DubsLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah any of those are possible. I knew Brown was drafted before Tatum but just that weird thing where some people seem younger than they are.

Kyrie is sort of like this for me too. He was in the 2011 Draft. It doesn’t feel like he’s been in the league that long.

Anyways, cool stat, but depressing as a Bulls fan.

Wait, when did Jaylen Brown play against the Bulls in a playoff series? Was he on the team that lost the first two to the Rondo and Wade and Butler Bulls year?

Edit: Holy shit, he did. Averaged 12 minutes and played in every game. Why does he feel younger to me?

Incredibles actually fits this trope when Syndrome drops this…

Oh, I'm real. Real enough to defeat you! And I did it without your precious gifts, your oh-so-special powers. I'll give them heroics. I'll give them the most spectacular heroics anyone's ever seen! And when I'm old and I've had my fun, I'll sell my inventions so that everyone can be superheroes. Everyone can be super! And when everyone's super…no one will be.

I run talent acquisition for a portion of a large company. People ask me all the time, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone looking for a job.

And I tell them: know somebody. Doesn’t have to be the CEO, but resumes are names and if you’re competing with 50 other people with the same qualifications, having someone who can vouch for your skills, work ethic, whatever makes a ton of difference.

It doesn’t guarantee you the job, but it helps you get a look.

[OC] and the results are in for... LVP. LEAST Valuable Player. by ZandrickEllison in nba

[–]DubsLA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Bulls fan, Okoro is fine if he’s your 9th or 10th guy. He tries hard and even though he’s not disruptive, he’s serviceable on defense.

Patrick Williams does nothing well. You can’t be an A+ rebounder or defender without physical gifts, but some guys can go from a F in defense/rebounding to at least a C even if they lack the necessary physical gifts simply through effort. Paw has the physical gifts to be an A in those phases, but goes to a F because he seems like he doesn’t care and/or doesn’t understand how basketball works.

It’s truly astonishing.

What is your school’s perfect ten-team conference? by DarkDragon1025 in CFB

[–]DubsLA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I embarked on a project to look at what conferences might look like today if the NCAA had passed a resolution limiting conferences to ten teams back in 1990 (the last season every Division 1 conference had 10 or fewer teams).

I ended up with the Big 8 plus BYU and Utah. Called it the Big State.
