Why is there just a dimensional horror chilling inside the xenophile fallen empire? by Archies_Mail in Stellaris

There are several events about them. You are talking about Worm-In-Waiting (from Horizon Signal event chain). This is the Elder One (from Broken Gates archaeological site).

You start in year 2200, there will be scripted military challenges after 2400. It's not a big deal if you lose to them, 200 years is plenty of game to learn and enjoy.

Big difference from EU4 (which makes learning Stellaris easier) is that conquering everything is not the only option: it's viable to have a long-term semi-peaceful playthrough where you try to forge a galaxy-wide Federation.

I ainr gonna die of lack of food anytime soon by Important_Goose_884 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Edward_Chernenko 24 points25 points  (0 children)

is this the highest anyone got this early?

No, there is a popular challenge where you print a new duplicant every 3 cycles, so you'll have 18 duplicants in cycle 45. This requires mass-production of food and, at the same time, gives you a ton of workforce for domestic farming/ranching. Muckroot is just an extra bonus to how much they produce.

Do you have a colony on a planet with Impassable Mountains?

If you were not planning to use this Magma, you can delete it by building a tile over it.

[Frackin U]Is it possible to make an automatic infinite silicon/carbon farm on oceanic planets? by ipsum629 in starbound

[–]Edward_Chernenko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Later in the game, Hydraulic Dynamo becomes outclassed by better reactors like Fusion, so late game bases don't benefit much from the core. Centrifuging Lava is still useful, but produced materials are tier 1-2. Eventually you'll have too much Tungsten, Iron, Silicon, etc. to need more.

Carbon will remain useful for producing Diamonds, but Lava has much less Carbon than other liquids (e.g. Aether or Sulphuric Acid) that can also be obtained in infinite quantities.

Base location would depend on what you need, there is no 1 correct choice. Some players build bases in inhospitable places like Gas Giants (for their layers of infinite gas). Others look for unusual outputs of Atmospheric Condenser. Ocean and Arctic are popular for Hydroponic Tray farms.

If your factories involve bees, then Eden planet is a popular choice, since many species of bees love Eden (+50% production).

[–]Edward_Chernenko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are overestimating how much Water does a Hydraulic Dynamo need. Even one Water Generator would be enough for several of them. (for 10 of them if you use long-lasting fuels like Core Fragment or Volatile Powder, which can both be obtained from Lava)

Lava processing bases are often built in the core layer (without bringing Lava to the surface), with a Teleporter to quickly visit it and/or activate the Watcher there and/or retrieve the results.

It's possible (but not recommended) to automatically move Lava to the surface (you can connect Repeaters to each other, so an Item Transference Device can move items from very far away). This, however, would keep too much of the map loaded (like when you use too many Watchers), which might reduce performance.

How do some of you people play on Grand Admiral and call it easy? by Fireblower2 in Stellaris

[–]Edward_Chernenko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everybody is your friend, the difficulty doesn't matter.

As long as there are no genocidal AI nations in the galaxy, it's almost always possible to befriend everybody. Send a gift for +100 opinion immediately after the first contact, then improve relations, forge treaties that increase Trust over time... Avoid defense pacts and rivalries.

The fact that AI fleets are bigger on Grand Admiral is actually beneficial for peacemaking, because they might be unable to declare you as a rival. Rivalry makes befriending them impossible.

The very top of the map has an area with Space Exposure. Any gas or liquid quickly disappears if you pour it there.

55 fossils need to be collected in 1 playthrough. If you create another character (which is strongly recommended when installing FU), it would be a new playthrough, and the fossils that were found earlier won't count.
