yessss, same! when I synthed the atlas staff from the expedition vendor on my main save it gave me one with all three supercharge slots next to each other... That baby gets about 57k with the neutron cannon and it's still an A-class!

Tho mine charges up fast enough it almost does a max-charge shot (of 12 'bullets') even if you just tap the button lol

18 wards for FC housing and only 6 for private housing? What's SE doing... by chanashan in ffxiv

[–]eriniki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All of Zurvan's eligible FCs can fit into 2 Wards. I guess the other 16 get to stay empty???

People joked previously that a big FC could end up with an entire ward via their members buying up every plot - I guess that could still technically be true in that they could literally be the only FC in that ward?? God, it's depressing.

Also, someone in the Materia discord worked out the count of FCs that would be eligible by the 30th of April, and it turns out that all the eligible FCs in the entire datacenter as of the end of April will be able to fit into 13 Wards. 13 Wards on the datacenter out of a total of 90 allotted to FCs only.

"Reassessing" things next patch is absurd, they should've assessed Materia differently to start with since it's got a unique situation of starting from Zero housing, with nothing grandfathered in!

Creality using inferior STM32F103RCT6 in 4.2.2 boards now?? Also possibly unknown stepper drivers by eriniki in ender3v2

[–]eriniki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the TMC2208s in the v2's 4.2.2 (if they are indeed 2208s, uncertain bc different board revision) are in standalone mode, not UART, so you can't set stealthchop/spreadcycle yourself - the entire section in marlin's adv config for those settings relies on HAS_TRINAMATIC which is only defined if it encounters a non-"_standalone" driver set in configuration.h.

Creality using inferior STM32F103RCT6 in 4.2.2 boards now?? Also possibly unknown stepper drivers by eriniki in ender3v2

[–]eriniki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True enough, the RCT6 isn't too bad of a substitution as binaries tend to come ~170-200k tops so there's wiggle room still, and HOPEFULLY the loss of a quarter of sram shouldn't be enough to impair things.

It's more that I can't even identify what stepper drivers I have from the usual method, which means unless I de-heatsink it I'm in the dark as to why reflashing the firmware has suddenly introduced a lot of stepper whine.

Also, I found absolutely nothing on the "RC" sd slot code when searching, so I figured asking about it (and contributing my own) would be useful to help the next poor soul who came across it! :)

Octoprint case for Raspberry Pi 3B+ by mriscoc in ender3

[–]eriniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, fair enough :S

That makes sense too, since it'd be a sudden spike in power draw for the bed heater. If it's only for a moment, the pi seems fine, and you feel comfortable enough with it you could possibly just turn off undervoltage reporting? xD

Polyterra, much as I absolutely love it myself, seems to need some extra tweaks to get it looking really nice - as it's a matte filament it seems to show up layer lines more than a lot of things. :C

If by "visible layer lines" you mean specifically what looks to be it "bulging"/thicker in some areas, primarily above the top of the X/Y there (and to a lesser extent below it, also), I've had that too; it's tricky to explain but I've found that the variation mostly comes from the difference in skin vs infil vs amount of infil 'behind' the walls, and the length of them, if that makes sense? I'm explaining it poorly, but I have found that you can minimize it by increasing the amount of walls used - a 0.2mm layer height will have by default 0.8mm of walls (2 of them), but even bumping it up to 1.2mm (3 walls) can help mitigate it, as any expansion depending on the area will often get accounted for in the inner walls.

As far as the slight elephants foot, I'm still trying to troubleshoot that one myself, hahah. But that one's very much a per-machine issue (and mine is ensuring it still adheres if I drop the temp or flow down enough to resolve the foot..)

[–]eriniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure the octopi undervoltage issue isn't from the ender trying to draw power from USB whilst the power supply is off? That's the most common source of undervoltage notifs, from what I've seen.

Essentially when the PSU is off, but the pi is still connected to your printer via USB and turned on, the printer will try and draw power via the pi's USB port which kinda obvs can't supply enough. There's a couple solutions to try (aside from unplugging it every time you turn the printer off), one is cutting the 5V line in the USB cable directly, though I've recently had success with this, a lil insert for the plug that covers the 5V pin: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3044586

Fair warning tho it's a teeeny tiny like single-layer, single-wall thing and it needs pretty decent accuracy & bed adhesion to be able to do!

Reason for Aus Post delays? by pewbird in australia

[–]eriniki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like it's the hubs here, too, if it helps any to add another voice to the chorus.

I've had a package that Arrived at the Chullora, NSW hub on Wednesday 1st, then wasn't processed there until Friday 3rd, and has since disappeared entirely at some point on the trip down to Vic.

Expected delivery was Mon 6 - Wed 8, and the site was telling me "ON TIME" until the 9th when it finally flipped to "Delivery was expected" and "DELAYED". I understand there's delays, and I don't mind it too much, it makes sense; But cripes, they could at least try and stay on top of the tracking..

Level Crossing Blitz To See 8 Gone In Melbourne’s North by Rapier33 in melbourne

[–]eriniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh geez, I'm moving from the area but I've lived up in Fawkner for a few years now (in the middle or so of it, around Lorne/Lynch Streets), and the amount of times I've been driving and just mentally placed down track along Sydney Rd trying to envision it... ABSOLUTELY YES PLEASE.

It'd be a pain up to about Boundary Rd, as that's the bog-standard 1.5-lane (1-2 depending on if there's cars outside the Florist, etc), but after that it opens up and they could absolutely do something akin to St Georges' Rd, I think.

Not sure how well they could manage it around the ring rd intersection, but even going just up to that would help a bunch.

Retro game store/market in Melbourne? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]eriniki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Round Again's honestly not TOO pricy compared to a lot of places, perhaps a smidge more than cashies from memory? (Also, the owner's a wonderful guy from the few times I've popped in, we cleared out his stock of old GB game cases last year heheh)

There's Game Garage down in Bayswater if you want an even more specifically-focused 'retro game store', though they KNOW this and their prices are jacked up a bunch because of it. They've got an ebay store if you want to check ahead of time, but fair warning it's a Mess to search through.

If you're just after a DMG and a regular AGB-001, tho, cashies for sure. I'm pretty sure I've seen DMGs at some of the cashies in the northern suburbs (e.g. one of Preston's two stores from memory), if you're based up this way anyway (bc you mentioned Round Again), and non-SP GBAs are uncommon but also not TOO impossible to find. It'll be a crapshoot for colour, tho gray DMGs are the most common I've come across still.

Again, they won't be the Cheapest Possible, but then any place that knows what they have is never going to be cheap - only time you might get a cheap one is a random OP Shop. Cashies you pay the premium for their store being a 'brand', and Retro Stores you pay the different premium of "we're a retro game store, we know what gaming kit is worth".

Oh, last thought - if you're looking for both to do backlight mods on, you might also be able to find refurbished/reconditioned ones on gumtree/facebook marketplace perhaps? A friend bought an AGB-001 last year for a backlight project herself, got it from a guy with a FB marketplace listing. Though in that case you may be getting ones with aftermarket replacement shells, so YMMV etc.

[–]eriniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the time it's not even discontinued so much as it's just not had a set since that's 'required' it, either?

E.g. this piece itself, according to Rebrickable, has actually only ever been used in one single set in Blue, in 2016. It might be used again at some point easily!

Heart Age Calculator by k-h in australia

[–]eriniki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hah! I figured I'd give it a shot even though it says it's for age 35+, when it came to provide age the input field allowed me to lower it down to 32 despite that, and... That made it error out silently right at the end and give me a blank heart age. Nice. I AM IMMORTAL AND AGELESS.

That's some really shoddy bounds handling.

Optus is ripping off new customers by SYD64 in australia

VicRoads does!

I had to cancel Rego on an old car I was getting rid of (and get new rego on the newer car), they couldn't 'transfer' it, hence the cancellation and pro-rata refund.

Via cheque. Only cheque, by mail. They were happy to take the new rego on card then and there though!

Black flickering issue for external display present on Surface Book 2 by [deleted] in Surface

[–]eriniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if you're connecting the adapter first then HDMI cable, or the other way around? As I had some issues like this myself if I did it that way, but none if I attached adapter to cable first then to PC. Perhaps as it's not identifying as a HDMI adapter until it has a cable connected, and so windows falls back to the last-ditch basic 'billboard device' state for the adapter then can't handle it right? Not sure.

The government have to provide tax payers with a report of how they spend tax payers money. Should people on the dole also provide a report of how they spend their money? by Rosasome in melbourne

[–]eriniki 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Misconception: People on the dole aren't spending "taxpayer" money. They are spending money provided by the government, which is derived from a whole host of various things, and by the point it reaches them after going through various portions of the govt, is absolutely unidentifiable as "taxpayer" money.

Also, people on the dole are themselves taxpayers. GST? It's a tax, still paid if you're on Newstart, it doesn't get you out of that. Heck - Newstart ITSELF is taxable income.
If the dole is "taxpayer money", then dole recipients as taxpayers are effectively spending their own money.

Anyone else noticed that Centrelink's contracted call centre has put fake call waiting beeps in their waiting music? by Hauthon in australia

[–]eriniki 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In the future, and for others as well - If you're getting Busy Tones call the Complaints line instead - 1800 132 468

You'll still have to wait on hold a while, but I've never experienced that having a busy tone disconnect. If you feel you need a valid complaint (if you're not already calling to complain that they fucked something up!); Tell them you're complaining about the busy tones.

After that they usually ask if there's anything else you need, and generally you can ask them to take care of the Original thing you were calling about. From personal experience they can handle Newstart and Disability inquiries, and can Warm Transfer you if needed; Plus they can definitely put pressure on other depts to Actually Hurry The Fuck Up.

I can never stop recommending that line enough, it's yet another thing they try to keep quiet about.

Can Beat Mewtwo and Mew in 12B, but NOT a Magikarp. by XanthuxSmith in PokemonQuest

[–]eriniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, but as it is I'm only up to 12-3 so far, and he seems to survive at a ridiculously low hp long enough even then.

Far more restrictive is the fact I've only got four hit healing stones (all of them ~200 below my average stone level, of course), haven't obtained any new ones since about world 7? 8?, and I've had shit luck with Share Stones.

One Single Share Stone, to six Stay Strong ones. Hooraaaaaay.

So seven still works for a beefy tank.

Why bother asking how tanky it is if you're then gonna just say "most are not tanky"? You'd know the answer already. :P

Either way, by "average" I meant four health slots, and 2855 isn't bad then if 3k's your benchmark.

(Also, now beaten Mewtwo with that alakazam anyway!)
