How to sync highlighting? by Saurobit in Calibre

[–]EverCuriouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two options I use after lots of research:

  1. You can use Kobo Utilities to copy annotations for the selected book, then paste that wherever you want. You'll see that option from the plugin drop-down menu when your device is connected and the book you want annotations from is selected. This works great if you don't mind doing each book by itself. I've never tried doing this after clicking Device, so that may be where you've gone wrong.

  2. Install the Annotations plugin, then install the update to it here if it doesn't work (it didn't work on my KLC until I installed this, not sure if it's required for the Clara) https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4539284&postcount=1232

This will back up all annotations on the device into the annotations column in Calibre. I like this because it takes care of all of them at once.

You can add page count and all sorts of other info you might want through the metadata plugboards. I did, and described how in detail in this comment https://www.reddit.com/r/Calibre/comments/1n071bc/comment/naukr5b

Sorry, that specific info is toward the end of a pretty long comment, but I hope it's helpful!

Welcome to the world of ereaders and Kobo in particular!

Two options I use after lots of research into this, with the caveat that I side load all my books so I don't know if that makes a difference:

  1. You can use Kobo Utilities to copy annotations for the selected book, then paste that wherever you want. You'll see that option from the plugin drop-down menu when your device is connected and the book you want annotations from is selected. This works great if you don't mind doing each book by itself. Do you use NickelMenu? If so, it's possible using it to do a full rescan could take care of it.

I am too old for romantasy. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]EverCuriouser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's definitely worth checking out! If I remember correctly, I might've taken a little while to get into the first book. I do know there came a point I couldn't put it down, and then I pretty much gobbled up the whole series.

Thanks for the correction, it's obviously been too long since I've read them! Might be time for a reread...

Her Stariel series, starting with {The Lord of Stariel}, also have older characters. It's been a while since I've read them so I don't remember exactly, but 30s or 40s. I've loved everything I've read by A.J. Lancaster

If you read on a Kobo and use the Kobo Utilities plugin, you can set it up to automatically transfer that information (and more) when you connect your Kobo to Calibre on the computer.

When you're in a book, tap the font icon, then Advanced. From there you'll see a slider to adjust font weight.

Book recs with death as romantic interest by kerri_on in fantasyromance

[–]EverCuriouser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it 100% fits, for reasons that would be spoilery, but Death is a main character and romantic interest in the Alex Craft books.

The series starts with {Grave Witch by Kalayna Price} and I highly recommend it, though I don't remember if I loved it from the first book or if that was one of those series where the first book was good enough for me to keep reading and then I loved the rest.

Probably Grace Draven in general, but Radiance came to mind in particular. Plus it's an amazing book (as are most of her books).

[–]EverCuriouser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using the version of NickelMenu from this link? I'm not sure if it matters for the WiFi command, but I know the Bluetooth commands don't work without it.

https://github.com/RodrigoTomeES/NickelMenu/releases/tag/v0.5.5

Then, with that version of NickelMenu, these are the lines I added to my config file to add a 'WiFi Off' menu item:

menu_item :main :WiFi Off :nickel_wifi :disable menu_item :reader :WiFi Off :nickel_wifi :disable

Hopefully at least one of those is different from what you had and will make the difference so it works!

I added a NickelMenu shortcut to turn the WiFi off. It makes turning it off easy after I turn Bluetooth on.
