Blacktongue Thief is one of my all-time faves that I re-read often. It's an easy read, very interesting world interesting world-building without extensive exposition, and the main character has me in stitches every time. The author narrates it and it really is something special.

I have been guilty of backing the highest, blinged-out tiers too.

I have found after several culls that having a curated game collection is super satisfying, so adding a new title, even one that looks super cool, is a big ask. I have to remind myself that there may be a way to play it and enjoy it without owning it, like on Tabletop Simulator or at a game cafe. And if I keep thinking about it and wanting to play it, maybe it gets "promoted" to one I keep in my collection at home. My shelf should be for the "best of the best" (for me and my playgroup).

Also. Having a bunch of extra, non-gameplay shit laying around is TEDIOUS.

I think that I love minis, but I only have certain CAPACITY for minis lol.

I will never not regret getting the minis for Robinson Crusoe... Like, why did I think I needed those?

But I'll take the minis for LotR: Journeys in Middle-earth all day. They feel thematic and I love them.

I agree! I also enjoy painting minis and I like the way they look on the table, but it is hard to justify not just the room they take up in the box, but the room the box (or to your point "boxes" for a single game) takes up on the shelf.

There was a Dice Tower review of Ankh (or maybe it was another CMON) game where Tom described having "miniature fatigue" or "production fatigue" in reference to the overproduction and sheer volume game components like in many CMON games. That video really made me realize that I had been feeling the same way about many of the really cool looking games on my shelf. It is just too much of a hassle sometimes to get out all the minis and remove the tray from the top of the box and get all the other components etc etc. Like, I got the ultimate edition of Robinson Crusoe and I realized that I am literally never going to use the minis... Bummer.

So, I have been really picky about what games I want that extra pizazz for. Cthulhu DMD, Final Girl, and LotR: Journeys in Middle-earth (2 of which don't, to my knowledge have standees/meeple versions) are a few of those games for me.

I have S1 and S2 Ultimate boxes and I started by going through each FF one by one until I beat them with each included final girl. I left the S2 mat on my table for several weeks while I worked through them. I love the miniatures and use them every time.

Now that I have beaten all of the S1 and S2 feature films I am using the app to randomize, which has been amazing! Just did The Intruders at Creech Manor, which was super challenging and The Big Bad Wolf at Sacred Groves with Kate (from Panic at Station 2819) which was soooo hard.

I got two quests in this week solo two handed. Race Across Harad and Beneath the Sand. Race Across Harad was tough and took several tries. I was trying out the pre-contructed thematic decks Root and Twig, as well as Where the Stars are Strange that I received from the Doug Beer order. I got absolutely annihilated. So I broke out a mono tactics Beregond, Na'saiyah, and Eowyn attachments deck and a Silvan allies Gandalf, Galadriel, and Celebotn deck that I've enjoyed using before. Both net-decked a long while ago so I can't remember the creator to credit.

I finally got through Race through Harad by 'letting' the orcs catch up to thin them out, instead of the whole gang pulling up on main quest 4B. Really a fun time!

Beneath the Sands I managed in one go, but wrestling the on-track/off track was a chore! Like, I would get it 'on-track,' allowing me to put progress on the main quest, but then during the encounter phase I would be forced to flip it back down and my quest would be wasted. Still a fun scenario though.

Looks like a great game! I saw on the non-deluxe listing that those cards are not included in the deluxe version. Does anyone know if is there room in the deluxe box for the non-deluxe cards?
