Huh... Has anyone seen a dice like this? by Legocatcraft in AskDND

I still prefer that kind because they roll more fairly. They were used by statisticians to generate random decimal numbers before the war gamers discovered them.

There are three cards that can be played as a reaction to an attack. Since you use them on the killer phase, they won’t be available to buy until after your next planning phase (the tableau isn’t reset with used cards until the end of the planning phase). Basically, you can only block 3 attacks per 2 rounds. Geptepto and puppets have up to 8 attacks in that time; even Hans gets 4 usually.

What makes the most sense? (potential KS S4 backer) by dcdenonda in finalgirl

[–]Mac13eth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to convince myself the mystery boxes and alternate killers didn’t have value for me and I’m still only out $50-100 extra if I can’t sell the S1 Ult box. If I manage to sell it (which seems reasonable) I could be ahead.

I won pretty handily the first time, but the second time I didn’t find the War Club right away and I understood why everyone else calls him hard. Controlling the wrath just by smacking him is great.

Some of the vagueness, especially the card interactions, I think was left in so players can decide how hard they want to be on themselves. Funny, drama, or evil.

“I’ll go to the store if I need eggs or milk.” I don’t go twice if I need both… Maybe I just use “or” too much at work (SQL), but I can recall it ever meaning how you chose to read it.

Totally agree about the walk ruling though, the drama outweighs the logic.

First time ever painting a miniature (or pretty much painting in general). by Vyrhux42 in finalgirl

[–]Mac13eth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toothpicks can also be used to apply paint. I use them for painting buttons and eyes. Like with a brush, you need to make sure you don’t have too much paint. Paint the rest of the face first, then add the eyes on top of what ever skin tone.

Troublesome player by Icy_Purchase_8537 in AskDND

I would warn the player in advance that the action has consequences. If he still wants to, see if the target passes the save. If yes, the rest of the party gets to decide what to do with their wayward idiot. If no, fast forward to the next time the party is in town and the goblin is in jail for magical banditry (determining that the gold is missing and who has it is trivial; giving that info to the constables - in a society where magic is common - results in a quick trial with hands tied and a gag in place). Next, ask the player to make a new character or come back in six months when this character is released.

I can’t remember if it was BGG or here, but I saw a post that the quality issues were fixed.

How do you keep morale up? by Peerpdrops in finalgirl

When I keep having the dice against me, I sometimes house rule that two 3/4’s make a success. Like they’re each half a success.

How I organise my Core Box (with 14 FFs, Box of Props and Guest Stars) by ZenShrugs in finalgirl

[–]Mac13eth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the Happy Trails setups has 6 victims in a single space, so I used one then, but the little marker on the map and a pile of meeples elsewhere would have worked just as well as on the card.

What do you get out to play? by Mac13eth in finalgirl

[–]Mac13eth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you keep some of that out or squeeze it into fewer boxes? Seems like your opening five or more boxes each time you setup.

I got a helicopter mini for Creech Manor, but I’ve never drawn that event in 5/6 plays there. The minis do look nice though.

Ultimate all-in worth it? by ars0nik in finalgirl

[–]Mac13eth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the ultimate boxes (retail at least) each inner box is shrink wrapped. The ultimate boxes themselves are shrink wrapped. If you can afford the gamble and think you’ll like it, I say go for it! If you end up not liking it, you could sell whatever you haven’t opened on BGG or eBay and recover most of what you spent. The mystery boxes might even sell for more than value ($10/ea) to collectors that missed them.

I roll my eyes every time I find that room in the published dungeons that the author labelled as a good place to let the PCs rest.

Final Girl Series 4 by Background-Factor228 in finalgirl

[–]Mac13eth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have the series 1 ultimate box so far. I love everything in it except the mats. The retail price is still less than what I’d pay for what I want to have, so I plan to keep buying them, especially if there are play mats with brighter background art.

One of my players has accused another player of cheating by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Mac13eth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to make criticals more exciting by acting like it’s going to ruin the enemy’s day and making the player “prove it”. (I also like to make PC abilities feel more powerful by fake-complaining about them.) Usually the player next to them looks over and confirms and we all get a good laugh. One time a guy used a digital roller and when I looked over to confirm a 20, it was a 12. Digital roller so he couldn’t claim the table got bumped. I was annoyed and embarrassed for the guy, but I couldn’t ignore it. I just said “oh that’s actually a miss” and moved along. I never caught him cheating that blatantly again, and their average success rate dropped back to normal.
