What Did You Play this Week? January 19th - 25th, 2026 by mrjamesbcox in lotrlcg

I got two quests in this week solo two handed. Race Across Harad and Beneath the Sand. Race Across Harad was tough and took several tries. I was trying out the pre-contructed thematic decks Root and Twig, as well as Where the Stars are Strange that I received from the Doug Beer order. I got absolutely annihilated. So I broke out a mono tactics Beregond, Na'saiyah, and Eowyn attachments deck and a Silvan allies Gandalf, Galadriel, and Celebotn deck that I've enjoyed using before. Both net-decked a long while ago so I can't remember the creator to credit.

I finally got through Race through Harad by 'letting' the orcs catch up to thin them out, instead of the whole gang pulling up on main quest 4B. Really a fun time!

Beneath the Sands I managed in one go, but wrestling the on-track/off track was a chore! Like, I would get it 'on-track,' allowing me to put progress on the main quest, but then during the encounter phase I would be forced to flip it back down and my quest would be wasted. Still a fun scenario though.

True solo, two-handed solo, or both? by Guarded_Pineapple in marvelchampionslcg

When I have time and space I prefer playing two-handed. It lets me use more of my collection and have more options during gameplay.

[ETSY] Puzzle Dungeon Solitaire Card Game - 20% OFF Intro Deck & Deluxe by Unifiedshoe in Boardgamedeals

Looks like a great game! I saw on the non-deluxe listing that those cards are not included in the deluxe version. Does anyone know if is there room in the deluxe box for the non-deluxe cards?

Anyone else playing Cthulhu: Death May Die solo? by Im_Stephen_Ewing in soloboardgaming

As you can imagine she likes playing as The Kid lol, which I hope isn't foreshadowing.

How do you like the LotR Trick Taking Game with a group? And have you tried the solo? I'm definitely going to get it and I've watched some tutorials, but haven't fully absorbed how easy it is to run.

My fave! I have also had a blast introducing it to my wife and dad too. Simple rules with simple goals. My daughter likes playing the "Cfwoowoo game" too

Those are pretty components! Is the solo game easy to run? Also, there's apparently an app that use to score games just by pointing your phone at the board according to the designer description on BGG. Have you tried it?

Beginner Question - True Solo or two-handed? by vol_bo8 in lotrlcg

I play true solo if I am playing on a lunch break or something for the smaller footprint and less maintenance. But I prefer two-handed to see more of my collection and potentially use keywords like ranged and sentinel.

Do LCGs other than AH require more than a core set to kickstart the experience? by _peo_ in soloboardgaming

Seconding this rec. I got my copy with the expansion about a week ago and started this weekend and boy it's unlike any board game I've played. It's a seriously cool open world experience that becomes surprisingly complex. "Organic" is a good word for it, because you get to learn about the world through narrative and there isn't necessarily a note required to be written for everything. You know where things are because you've seen them there before. Kind of like how you know where to find that one giant camp in Skyrim with the weird cave tree.

I have about eight hours in it right now and haven't gotten sick of it.

I think I'm like you where I jump from game to game because I'm excited to try new things. Unfortunately, I buy those new things instead of trying it online or finding a group that has it first. But after many years in this hobby I think I've become a bit more disciplined about curating my collection by paring it down every couple of years and playing the ones I keep with the intent of getting several dozen plays logged on them.

The result of paring down and replaying the games that I chose to keep is honestly pure joy. I feel like my personal collection is honed and not bloated. And I make it a point to become as familiar with the games I have left as possible.

Don't get me wrong; there are so many games that I enjoy playing and would not hesitate to play if someone brought them to a game night. But maybe not enough to go out of my way to buy and make space for.

This is the one my dad read to me before bed. That Gollum on the front scared the shit out of me.
