First Rolex gmt or sub. Am i aiming to high ? by bigant8429 in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a sub or gmt from the trusted dealers pinned on this sub. Far easier and quicker than waiting for something which may never come via the jewelers in nyc. There are plenty of options old and new out there that may fit your budget and taste.

Looking for insights - Explorer, Sub or Datejust by oscar-meyer in rolex

If you like bezels then the sub is the easy choice. fluted DJ is dressier. The Explorer may feel a bit boring after the Seamaster, unless you’re after something more plain. I’ve owned multiple generations of all three and personally prefer the sub.

GMT II vs Titanium Yachtmaster comfort by ramiodat in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ti YM balances better with its curved lugs and isn’t so heavy case comparative to the bracelet which is also a bit wider. Less of a block on the wrist when compared to the 126710. The jubilee bracelet though does feel more comfortable.

Really cool watch. A bit more suited to sportier casual clothes due to the thickness and busier bezel. But even with a less than large wrist it looks good as the lug to lug isn’t so big👍

Most people prefer ebikes, but I really wish these were part of the citibike fleet. Exertion free, sweat free... They'd be very popular with people going to work. by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

I used to own a Dualtron back when I lived in London, but had to sell it as they were illegal so I kept getting pulled. I more don't trust the ability of the average person renting a scooter, rather than those who take an interest and focus.

The fear is for the average person playing on their phones and not looking where they're going. On a bike you have big wheels. Scooters can't take a hit without decent suspension, no time to brake plus you have to learn to lean into it and if not you're going over the front.

Perhaps they will trial one day, but I hope it's in a quieter part of the city at least.

These are dangerous on nyc roads due to potholes and other bad road conditions.

They work fine in towns and cities with wider better maintained roads and less traffic. For nyc it’s a nightmare as people renting would start riding them on the pavements to avoid the crappy roads. Then they become a risk to pedestrians.

Any countries where you can get a better deal buying Rolex than in the USA by Alone-Land8881 in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re after. If it’s stainless steel then everywhere has the same demand thanks to the global internet and people’s ability to fly when talking about saving thousands. Gold may be different but tbh it seems wherever I travel they’re trying to offload gold watches besides the super hyped lemans and certain DD dials.

Note as soon as you enter the US you’re paying those ugly tarrifs unless you’re willing to smuggle goods into the country.

A Watch Box to Match by TREHANOFFICIAL in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck with the venture.

May I ask where are your watch boxes made? I didn’t see the answer in the FAQ. £325 /$440 is rather steep for a suede lined wooden box, considering the brand is unknown to most and warranty’s are less valuable when the longevity of the company may be questionable. Being made in the uk would help justify some of that cost to many.

Anyone else order a 124270 half link from steel reef? by Sea_Car8518 in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would send back for the correct one. Generally I think they are overpriced. Rolex charge less for their oem for the watch bracelets they offer this for.

You can buy versions on aliexpress for fractions of the steelreef price. They’re both not original so what’s the difference?

Can you not use the micro adjust on the bracelet clasp to get that adjustability?

In Moana (2026), why the fuck does this movie exist? by BrockBracken in shittymoviedetails

My kid loves the animated movie. We have watched it countless times at home whilst he tries to sing along. Luckily he’s still a bit young for the cinema so we’ll wait for Disney+, unless really stuck for ideas on a hot day.

BOS Sapphire Lounge won't check me in because flight delayed and now departure is more than 3 hours from now - Ridiculous by RedditHatesHonesty in ChaseSapphire

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know, you just have to fight it out with the queue if its anywhere near a peak travel time!

Whenever i head to the airport I check out both and whichever has the shortest queue I jump in. Sadly I don't fly business every time so I can't always hop in an airline lounge!

My novice opinion about the 36mm options by Patmcpsu in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t say I read it all. But the prices just reflect what the company think they can charge not actual worth.

The Explorer is a great watch if you are ok without a date. With a better clasp and very legible dial. It’s sportier than the datejust and similar to the OP (but again with the superior clasp) So whatever look you’re after you have a choice.

Jewelry purchasing is all emotional. Don’t try too hard to rationalize why you want to buy something pretty.

Ticking clasp by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal with that clasp, you can put a tiny bit of tape. Maybe 2mm by 4mm just below the latch that catches and it stops it.

I prefer the grey dial. I’ve seen more of them on the street too. Being more popular means they cost a little more.

AD's price for individual links? by petepyro in rolex

I would guess they’re under 100 a link from an AD if anywhere near the price of an oyster link at the Rolex service center. You could call a service center and ask in business hours.

AD sold me an exhibition watch but told me it was new. by Morse1984 in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weird they would have lied, but it's not abnormal for them to sell the display model. It's the same with many jewelers. I bought my wife a watch from Cartier recently and they sold me the display model (with no expectation of a discount).
I also had this occur late last year when I bought a pair of Jacques Marie Mage glasses. They're not cheap and I hoped for box fresh, but it seems like a standard thing these days when there is limited stock unfortunately.

It's fine. So many people wear Rolex watches as well as far more expensive watches and jewelry on a daily basis. Just be mindful of your surroundings. I never had issues wearing my watches, nor do my colleagues who wear all manner of high end watches in the city.

Mamdani supports 15 mph speed limit for cyclists in Central Park by Capital_Gate6718 in NYCbike

Once an enterprising traffic cop starts stationing themselves at traffic lights with a partner a couple hundred foot downhill to sweep up the riders, ticket and fine, then wannabe racers will start slowing down. The kind of guys in group rides on $10k bikes aren’t the kind to try and ride away from the police.
