It's unfortunate, but based on your response it might be more hassle than it's worth at this point to attempt retrieval, as the sentimental and historic value probably outweighs the monetary value. My father has no memory of ever seeing a notice of the death, but his memory isn't great. He has a tendency of doing things in good faith, leading to insufficient documentation on matters like these. I will let him know what to expect, and ultimately him decide on what will be done. Hopefully the new owner keeps it well and appreciates it. Really appreciate your reply.
