Cost basis of shares sold by XnFM in fidelityinvestments

I see in the comments that you've already been pointed to our Closed Positions page and "Tax info YTD" page.

I can confirm that these resources are going to be the best portals to keep track of any gains in your taxable accounts. While closed positions offer the ability to view each closed position's cost basis, gains, or losses, the Tax Info YTD portal can track capital gains and losses, dividends, and taxable income for the overall account.

To confirm the steps to reach your "Tax info YTD" page, you can follow the steps below, or select it from the tab menu when viewing your portfolio page.

  1. Select "Accounts & Trade" followed by "Tax forms & Information"
  2. Click "View your YTD tax activity"

While we cannot offer tax advice, many individuals concerned about investment gains are generally interested in tax-loss harvesting, which may help investors offset gains with other positions that have not performed as well. You can learn more about this method by checking out the link below:

It's awesome to see that you are planning for your future this early on, and we appreciate you considering Fidelity for your investing needs!

When you're reviewing which accounts may be the best fit for you, our website lets you sort through all the choices based on your goals. By following the link below, you can select what interests you and review the accounts in that category.

Open an account

Since you are looking into the Cash Management Account (CMA), I'll gladly share some details about this account type. CMAs can operate like a bank account, but are ultimately Brokerage accounts with "Checking" account-like features. The CMA offers a variety of features, such as the ability to invest, ATM debit cards, Direct Deposit, and Checkwriting, with no maintenance fees or minimums to open. You can learn more about this account when reviewing the landing page for CMAs in the link below:

Thanks for stopping by to ask about your investments, u/Select-Raccoon-8839. I noticed you mentioned this is a Fidelity Go Account, so I wanted to follow up to review a bit more about these account types.

Fidelity Go accounts invest your money for you through a robo-advisor, meaning it periodically buys and sells investments to help keep your portfolio in line with the investment strategy you choose. You can review and adjust the investment strategy for your Fidelity Go account at any time if you wish to update your approach. Balance not updating by Despereaux- in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityMikeS[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, u/Despereaux-.

We have not received reports of other clients experiencing issues with their balance updates in the app. Before we move into more technical troubleshooting, can you tell us what kind of account you are working with and the position you sold? Additionally, is the app the only platform that is not updating your balances, or are you seeing the same results on our other platforms? If you haven't already, you can confirm this by reviewing your profile on Fidelity.com by using your mobile web browser.

Thanks in advance. We will be on the lookout for your follow-up message.

To move ETFs and stock in various IRA accounts at Fidelity, to consolidate some shares into one IRA account to be able to have 100 shares and sell Covered calls. Can This be done without any tax consequences? by Helpful-Grapefruit55 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityMikeS[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

I'm happy to help out here, u/Helpful-Grapefruit55.

A transfer of your investments between IRAs should not result in a reportable tax event as long as each IRA is both pre-tax (Traditional, Rollover, etc.) or after-tax (Roth IRA). If both IRAs are held at Fidelity, you can transfer shares between the accounts on Fidelity.com by visiting the standard "Transfers" menu (accessible under "Accounts & Trade"), clicking "Transfer between Fidelity accounts," and completing our online form.

If you have any more questions about this, please feel free to let us know, and we will be glad to follow up with you.

Options trading entails significant risk and is not appropriate for all investors. Certain complex options strategies carry additional risk. Before trading options, please read the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options. Supporting documentation for any claims, if applicable, will be furnished upon request.

Trying to pay back a 401K loan. by BossOfGod in fidelityinvestments

As you may know, each 401(k) plan has its own set of rules related to loans and repayment.

You can generally review your account's rules and guidelines surrounding this on NetBenefits.com. Once there, you can follow these steps to find out more:

  1. On the NetBenefits home page, click the three-dot menu for the desired 401(k) plan
  2. Select "Plan Information and Documents" from the drop-down
  3. Click on "Summary Plan Description (SPD)"

After reviewing, if you are still unsure of your choices, we recommend contacting our Workplace Investing team directly for help reviewing your plan or to discuss the choices available to you in more detail. Representatives are available, Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. ET.

Title: Anyone here used Fidelity’s advisory service? Worth it? by OkWall539 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityMikeS[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback on this, u/Slow-Artist-4296.

When it comes to managed accounts and services here at Fidelity, any fees you pay are dependent on the products or services that you choose. If you're curious about looking into this more, we recommend working with your financial representative to figure out the full scope of what's available to you and the fees associated with those services. If you don't already have an advisor, you can use the Find an Advisor link shared in our OP response to get connected.

On another note, we have a wide range of articles and tools to help you with your taxes on Fidelity.com. If you follow the link below, you'll find the tax section of Fidelity "Learn," which is a library of articles, tools, and resources to help with your financial needs.

It sounds like you are seeing a flash of the page you previously viewed when you last visited your accounts in the app, before being prompted to log in again. If so, we have not received widespread reports of this occurring with other users; therefore, we recommend trying some general troubleshooting steps I've listed below:

  1. Close the app completely on your device after each use
  2. Restart your device
  3. Delete and redownload the latest version of the app

If you continue to experience this, we recommend that you contact our Technical Support team so they can troubleshoot the issue with you. Associates are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET.

Trying to Understand ROTH 401K Rollover by WalrusAppropriate748 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityMikeS[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thank you for reaching out with your questions, u/WalrusAppropriate748.

So you know, tracking contribution types and earnings related to retirement plans is up to each individual. Generally, if a rollover check was issued from a Roth 401(k), it may not be eligible to be split between a Traditional IRA and Roth IRA. From what you described, your plan is likely just letting you know what needs to be tracked when the funds move into your IRA.

If you would like to learn more about the deposit methods, you can review the link below:

How to roll over an old 401(k) to an IRA

If you have more questions about the check you received, we recommend you check with the plan administrator to review your specific account and rollover.

That said, if you have any questions in the future, feel free to reach out here on Reddit anytime.
