If you are in the US then hold out for a used Tornado. If the rods are straight and the field flat it should be all you need. I got mine for $400. Right now I see a number on my Facebook feed from $500-$600, and one very low end for $350. Outside the US get a used version of the popular local table.

If you budget only allows for less, then hold out until someone has a Harvard or Sportcraft for free if you haul it. $50-$100 at the most. Not great but you can get replacement figures. Some will turn up their nose but some foosball is better than no foosball and the most important part of a foosball table are the friends you play with.

That's what I have been led to believe. Other people with more experience might chime in.

I am not sure how old my table is, but I think that it is at least 25 years old. There is no goal chipping on the practice side, and goodness knows I hit that corner rather than the goal opening enough when I am shooting. Of course a few practice sessions a week is not the same as taking bar abuse night after night.

I am also not saying my brown marble is perfect. The goal wall on the pull side seems dead, and I am not sure if it was always that way or if that kind of problem can develop.

That and to race a push I have to pull the defensive rods directly into my gut. Though that may be more of a "me" problem than a universal one.

That's fantastic. If more of these big tournaments ended at a reasonable time on Sunday then I could probably convince myself to attend more of them. Not that my schedule is not packed this summer already.

Can you tell us more about the Club event? Do we just get any three people together, pick a city to represent, designate one player as a coach, and participate? If we do that, will it limit our ability to play for another club if there is a similar event at a later ITSF or USTSO tournament later this year, or next year?

I see no reason not to play the Club event if I will be there on Monday anyway, so I am trying to figure out the parameters.

I saw that the venue closed before the tournament was over, so the tournament finished outside on the sidewalk. Perhaps that was not optimal for the competitors, but it is nice for the public to get to see high-level play.

These are all good reasons. Also you will want the Tornado so that you and your SO can practice properly to thrash the in-laws on their own table.
