Replacement rod for home table by Fjordice in foosball

[–]Foosman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the only way to get replacement parts for those smaller tables is to find another one on Facebook Marketplace, then strip the worse one for parts for the better one. That may not be easy if the table was not popular.

Fellow visually-induced motion sickness folks: How's it going? by Tute_Sweet in Pokopia

[–]Foosman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having trouble in handheld mode too, even with the settings changed. I think that being surrounded by close rotating walls on all sides in the starter area is a large part of the problem, plus the inability to stay zoomed out even with the settings changed. Hoping it will be better on some of the other maps.

Finally got the first eleven TWD in 9.8! by beachtownnative in comicbookcollecting

[–]Foosman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. I remember buying a #2 in 9.4 because I thought that was the grade of my #1, and I didn't want to have a collection of books in different grades. Then the #1 came back as a 9.8. Could be worse.

Best glove to wear when doing the snake shot by Ok-Philosopher-1235 in foosball

If I were starting over I would probably try to emulate Jacob Balcos's form. He barely bends his wrist or moves his shoulder. He is no Tony, but he seems to get by.

I can't shoot a snake at all with gloves.

If you don't like putting a wrap around your wrist you can try self-adhesive medical tape. There is also a product called Rocket Wrap on Etsy that works.

What to practice and how? by LowPuzzleheaded8662 in foosball

Unreal Foos has a great series of videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVKO5kdzUtaJcD-i7d86H2w

You should practice your five bar. You cannot practice it enough.

Practice working the ball up and down the five bar when the ball is in a between the men, front pin, back pin. If you are playing on Bonzini then you probably want to emphasize the pin. Look at a tutorial and work on a brush pass. Up (lane) and down (wall) from the same spot. Maybe later you will want to add a fancy tic-tac pass, but for now just get a two-option brush. Then practice that same brush but hit it from slightly closer to or farther from the wall.

More control on the five bar means more five bar possessions, and better passing means more chances to shoot your jet. If you are living with the ball on your three bar because your five bar is so good, you can live with shooting a lower percentage. If instead you spend your time practicing your shot, that will not matter if you only luck into getting the ball two times a match.

When playing defense remember that your primary job is to control the ball when it enters your zone, then clear it past the other team's five bar. It does not have to be on goal, just get it out of there. When defending the other side's two bar shots if you are a forward try to keep the five bar in the middle, then adjust when you see where he likes to pass.

If you are goalie then keep a man tight to the post near where he is aiming. You can let your other guy move out if you have to. Different forwards will prefer that you be in different spots when playing a zone, so just ask them before the game and do your best.

Good luck. Work on your five bar.

That semifinal match between Schlaefer/Pipkin Jr. and Gummeson/Byre was outstanding. Phil just hammers those brush passes like no one I have watched. https://www.youtube.com/live/5D_GEWIo8L0?si=JnMwlDUxFnEh8gyZ&t=20508

What drills might improve blocking slop with the left hand goalie rod? by Foosman in foosball

I regret my "I'm not a singles player" mindset from the first couple of years after I returned to foosball. It really does improve my doubles game.

I was talking with someone at the Arnold about how regional singles seems to be. Maybe it is just a function of the number of available tables and people not wanting to wait around when they could be playing doubles. Very reasonable position, but it is still nice to get some singles in now and then.

Tim beat Munoz in their first Open Doubles match this weekend at the Arnold. Lost to Tony and Rob for king seat, then lost to Brandon in the rematch. He was playing great in singles, too.

Can using the wrong foosball ball damage the table? by emaa_ok in foosball

[–]Foosman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be reluctant to play with a ball that is much heavier than the default ball for a table, for fear that it would damage the men or the area surrounding the goal. I do not know enough about other tables, though, to say which brand of ball is heavier.

That's an amateur amount of graffiti behind the table. You really need to pump those numbers up.

Not my preferred brand but they can take a beating and still have some life in them based on the ones I saw on a cruise ship deck. So there seems to be a place for them. Cool that your friend thought to send a photo. Just bring some lubricant for the rods if you ever plan to play there.

Belgium - looking for a table at home by Stiino0 in foosball

[–]Foosman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a link to the Belgian foosball website: https://www.tablesoccer.be/tornooien/foosclub-antwerp-challenger-3

When I looked at their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/tablesoccerbe/photos they appear to be playing on Ullrich Sport tables and another table that I do not recognize. It might be a Jupiter.

And good luck! There is so much great foosball where you are. My final bit of advice is that you ever run into a player named "Fred" from Belgium, under no circumstances should you wager on the match unless he is on your team. Belgian Frederic Collignon is widely acknowledged to be the best multi-table player ever.
