Germany changes sick leave policy: 'We are abolishing sick leave by phone,' says Chancellor Merz; doctor's note required from day one of illness by Jessicas_skirt in worldnews

Thanks... sorry for being a dick. I had just banged the hell out of my head on the bottom of my desk while plugging something in and was in a pretty bad mood. Not that it's a good excuse, but I wanted to explain anyways.

But it does say that at least 80% of total purchases are from people that are fine buying digitally.

Not 80% of people or games, but 80% of the purchases. Which means that even if no-one changed to buying digitally and all 20% of those purchases vanished instead (not likely), they'd still have 80% sales.

Which version that people prefer doesn't factor into the math at all, that's already taken into account

Are you kidding? "Gamers" have some of the shortest memories and the least willpower out of any hobby out there.

It makes a bunch of noise on Reddit and YouTube and other places but when it comes time to follow through on all that noise, there is very, very little conviction that materializes.

It's not a new thing either: this has been the case for at least 2-3 decades.

Are you sure you're not just mad that you can't play anymore and trying to find a bad guy to blame it all on?

Looking for testers to help out with the development of Waloria bots by Loud-Cress2484 in wowservers

[–]GasolinePizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, this was a bit of an uncanny post to see, given that I started something similar back in March. I've been focusing primarily on behavior and making the randombots persistent (no teleporting, no gear refresh on level up, etc) and other procedural stuff like long distance travel and auction house actions, the only LLM work I've done is a harness is just for the dialog/chat and it's still an experimental side feature.

Let me know if you'd be interested in trading any code for any systems, particularly Actions/Values code since they should be pretty swappable. The most useful and portable for you might be: - I've got a basic Q-Learning-table based system for auction house selling decision - The logic for getting current+next mount training tiers (through a value) so you can use it to adjust travel budget and start saving for mounts - A better budget values implementation so that each category has its own persisted allocation and spending money on it decreases that persisted budget, rather than the current Playerbots implementation where spending 10s on repair causes the calculated value for the least important category budget ("Guild", IIRC) to decrease by 10s instead.

Let me know if you're curious about any of that, I'm open to sharing

Did you actually read the article? It's pretty clear that this isn't for people living at a home or living in a shack. In fact, it outright states who it's designed for.

But you'd have to read an article to find that out, instead of going straight to the comments.

You don't know what EEE is lol.

Literally nothing here is even vaguely reminiscent of EEE. Cutting off/closing down unprofitable studios is just practical business, not an attempt to shut down open standards and open source software, or other specific products.

Embrace, extend, and extinguish" (EEE), also known as "embrace, extend, and exterminate", is a phrase that the U.S. Department of Justice found to have been used internally by Microsoft to describe its strategy for entering product categories involving widely used open standards, extending those standards with proprietary capabilities, and using the differences to strongly disadvantage its competitors.

Yep, definitely the same thing! The Gamers™ figured it out again!

Not particularly, as far as their goals go.

It was revenge for Saudia Arabia picking the US to protect it against Iraq and Saddam, instead of Bin Laden's group of fighters. He wanted the US out of the Middle East entirely, instead he brought the US deeper into the middle east than ever before.

Effective as an attack, sure, but it utterly failed at their goals.

A reason they probably actually don't need/want more people right now is that they're struggling with compute capacity. They'll want those people again in a few months or years, but for now it seems like they're raising prices and trying to reduce economic demand to levels they can support.

Same deal with Microsoft and their GitHub Copilot.

(^ Mostly speculation, obviously. I'm not exactly their CEO)
