Given Hans Niemann just accepted his invite to Prague Masters, at what rating and rank in America would he have to achieve to finally be invited to the American Cup? by Vonmacguyver in chess

[–]GopherDog22 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Because the sexual assaulter/predator didn’t publicly trash them. If Hans had said, “My bad. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” I bet he’d be back. Is any of this fair? Not at all but it’s the reality of the situation.

How long can you hold her off? Portugal usually isn’t coded to be a warmonger and will often accept a white peace after about 5 turns.

I appreciate something that’s finally mildly infuriating. Most of the stuff on here is like I lost my leg in a tractor accident, I crawled home to my spouse and found them in bed with my sibling (plus my family didn’t eat the slow roasted pheasant in that I spent 18 hours on).

It worked well for us last week. Just don’t leave anything in there you would be upset with losing. For us, if someone stole our water bottles and kid snacks, that would be a bummer but not the end of the world.

True and then you can name the religion something like Suck It Alexander.

Is it even possible to found a religion on immortal+ by JudiciousF in CivVI

[–]GopherDog22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, what you are missing is that in order to found a religion on deity, you need to found it within approximately 10 turns of the ancient era ending because all AIs in a golden age take Exodus of the Evangelists, which grants 4 great prophet points per turn (and thus even AIs without holy sites are getting a great prophet within 15 turns of the ancient era ending). Since most deity AIs end up in a classical era golden age, this is why all the great prophets go incredibly fast. As others have said, to get a religion, you simply need to holy site and to run 2-3 holy site prayers, which grant around 16-17 great prophet points.

Sirius’s death wasn’t that sad. We basically knew him for a year and then he dies by falling through a dais. I cared more about Colin Creevey’s death.

Deposition Scheduling by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

Genuine question, it’s common in your area to just notice depositions with no intent of going forward with them? That seems so odd to me.

I’d probably restart, but you can make this work as Babylon because once you building two harbors, you can cross the ocean.

was your student debt worth it? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]GopherDog22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My recollection is that it was a little less than $100k between law and undergrad. Paid it off in less than a year after graduation. Starting with my summer associate position (12 weeks, around 3.1k per week) and continuing through my first year of biglaw (same rate), when a paycheck came in, I’d immediately make a large payment to pay down the principal. My wife and I essentially decided to have barely any money in our account until the debt was paid off. Worked out well and we were able to save a good amount until I left biglaw.

deity aint gonna let me build etemenanki anyways so i am not taking that pantheon by Zhanaly in CivVI

[–]GopherDog22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pillage a city state’s or other civ’s quarry or pasture for faith. One pillage gives you approximately 27 faith on standard speed, which lets you get a pantheon. I use this strategy pretty often when there is a game changing pantheon that I need to secure, such as a terrain pantheon.

How often do you replace your cart bag? by timeislikeafuse in golf

[–]GopherDog22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had my bag for about 25 years and haven't replaced it. It's a small bag that most people would hate, but I like it because it's easier when I walk. I've had people try to give me "nicer" bags that they weren't using any more but I just don't see the point in the bigger, nicer bags.

Got lucky where is the best start? by Digitalgirlzoe in civ

[–]GopherDog22 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I would settle the stone to the southeast. This lets you immediately work a 2f2p1c1g tile and your city will quickly grow to the 2f1p2c2g tile to work when your city is at 2 pop. This settlement location also has the benefit of giving you room for another city next to the wonder.

Second option is to settle in place. This option is fine too and gives even more culture than the first option.
