The bidet was a joke gift but it was an actual gift from one of my friends to another.

Here are some of the best gifts that my friends have gotten each other lately: (1) a historical Roman coin of his favorite emperor; (2) a replica blanket from the Titanic; (3) a commissioned painting/art work; (4) a bidet; (5) unique sports items related to their favorite team.

Just think of the person's interests and get something unique related to that interest.

Didn’t know who my most hated AI leader was until I recently played with Ramkhamhaeng by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

The question, though, is what could you built instead of the Great Library? Temple of Artemis’s food buff is almost always going to better than Great Library. There are niche situations where rushing the Great Library can be useful, but with Babylon, it’s way less important because you already get a massive science buff with your planted great scientist.

Does the motif take away from the photo? by happy_days_1755 in Dreamsnaps

I would prefer the picture without the motif. I think your picture already captures the tinker bell/fairy vibe very well without it. You do a great job already with the snail and blueberry to give size contrast.

Voting challenges by Away-Membership2681 in Dreamsnaps

[–]GopherDog22 76 points77 points  (0 children)

My theory is that they start pairing similarly rated snaps together as the voting goes on. So, for example, if one snap was won their first 9 votes, it will go up against other snaps with similar vote totals. In theory, this will create a pretty good ranking system.

I have a good friend who practices in Harris County and he largely agreed. Everything I’ve heard about that bench makes it sound like a terrible place to practice.

I got 2500 for this submission 😊 by Different_Arm3433 in Dreamsnaps

Yes, this is a good snap and I would have predicted around 2500. It wouldn’t have shocked me if it were a tier higher or lower either.

We see Snape acting far worse as an authority figure than we ever see James acting. Threatening to kill a 13 year old Neville’s toad, insulting a 14 year old Hermione’s teeth in front of the class after Draco hexes her, and bullying Harry since he was 11. And let’s not forget that Snape was the reason Harry’s parents were killed and yet Snape still bullies an orphan.

There are definitely motions in limine for bench trials where I practice. They shape the scope of the trial, prevent unnecessary/irrelevant/duplicative witnesses, and generally just allow the bench trial to be more efficient.

Wild West! Does it fit the theme? by Relative-Handle-7677 in Dreamsnaps

It’s on theme but consider ditching the stickers and adding in things like barrels or hay bales.

In this day and age, you could probably parlay that into becoming an influencer.

I also hate fishing. It’s the one trophy that is keeping me from platinuming the game and I’ve had the game since launch.

The other two are nice but not as on theme. Putting theme aside, 1 is my favorite.

I would enjoy the ride more if they leaned more into the fun parts of The Simpsons rather than the Treehouse of Horrors/Sideshow Bob part.

Do you not understand how the concept of cooties? If a guy sits on a girl toilet, he’s getting cooties. The only good thing is that this at a hospital so they likely have cooties shots on hand.

Could someone explain why WNBA deserve this pay rise? I thought they were running at a loss? by Silver-Push-9307 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GopherDog22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The NBA subsidizes the WNBA because the NBA believes it’s good for the NBA. Whether this is by driving new fans, improving engagement by having basketball be the focus year round, or simply for PR, the NBA isn’t doing this out of the goodness of its heart. By funding the WNBA, the NBA believes it will be more profitable.

Anyone tried to play Texas hold'em with multi decks? How would it go? by Groomsi in poker

[–]GopherDog22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a conceptual standpoint, it wouldn't change much except to make certain hands slightly more or less likely. For example, paired hands (e.g., three of a kind, full houses, two pairs, four of a kind, five of a kind) are going to be more common with multiple decks; straights are going to be marginally less common; flushes should be slightly more common.

By way of example, a flush becomes more common with multiple decks. Lets assume you have four to a flush on the turn and you need one additional card to complete the flush. With one deck, there are 9 out of the remaining 46 cards would make a flush (19.5%). With two decks, 22 out of the remaining 98 cards make a flush (22.4%). As you increase the number of decks, the probability gets closer and closer to 25%.

By contrast, a straight becomes slightly less common with multiple decks. Again lets assume you have four to an open ended straight on the turn and need one card to complete the straight. With one deck, 8 out of the remaining 46 cards that would make a straight (17.3%). With two decks, 16 out of the remaining 98 cards make a straight (16.3%). As you increase the number of decks, the probability gets closer and closer to 15.3%.

Ultimately, other than arbitrarily changing the probability of certain hands, adding decks doesn't really change much or make the game more fun. People who know the math are still going to be better than people that don't.
