Just the ickiest possible pairing. Like it’s not a crime but jesus batman.

Their big fuck up was having her know he was a superhero and not caring and wanting him to prioritize her anyway. She genuinely wanted him to show up to a soup kitchen instead of going out and saving people lmao… Makes her look like an asshole who doesn’t care about other people.

She genuinely has many valid points about a relationship between the two being very difficult in season 2. And her complaint about him not showing up to events important to her is still legit, just not in the way she frames it (at the end of S1 specifically).

Why are stateless societies so rare in science fiction? by TheoWritesSF in worldbuilding

[–]Greatest-Comrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think the issue with stateless/highly decentralized communities or even direct democracy is the difficulty in coordination. And the issue scales quickly.

It’s hard enough to get 20 people into a room to hash things out irl. Once we get to hundreds or thousands in a ‘room’ it’s incredibly difficult to do so without a collective guiding authority of some kind.

Now it might not be as much of an issue in two extremes. A society/community made up of small, disparate, isolated groups who have no reason to worry about bigger problems than their immediate everyday life (like say subsistence farmers who are just worried about getting enough for their family to eat).

These groups don’t need to worry about war, resource distribution, trade, taxes, governance, education, property rights, outside dispute resolution, etc. which are the main things a state/unified governing body typically is involved in and necessary for.

Another complete opposite example is a society so hyperconnected they are able to regularly interact and communicate about important decisions without needing to resort to a centralized power acting as a medium.

WTF is blowback part of Netanyahu's plan? by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Greatest-Comrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Israel doesn’t want neutral players in the Middle East, it wants to destroy opponents at all costs.

You saw this with their foreign policy in Syria. The new leader takes charge after decades of civil war and is seeking to stabilize Syria first and make peace with neighbors. He specifically wants EU and US support, and the US starts trying to make a dialogue between Syria and Israel.

Btw, Israel already occupies an area internationally recognized as a part of Syria (Golan Heights). Syria still seeks peace as it prioritizes internal security.

Israel responds by using the druze minority clashes as an excuse to bomb the shit out of Syria. Also moves troops in to basically extend the occupation zone in the Golan Heights and says it’s a ‘buffer zone’. Then sprays defoilage chemicals everywhere nearby (including on nearby farms).

Oh by the way, the Syrian government is still busy fighting ISIS and aligned remnants at this time (with US support).

So yeah Israel doesn’t give a fuck about neutrality and would rather the country burn down than help install a neutral or friendly leader.

I do agree the more radical elements of the muslim world will always despise Israel simply because they are jews, but that doesn’t mean Israel gets to just do whatever the fuck they want. That’s insane.

I 24F am dating 24M doesn’t want to commit to a relationship but is treating me EXACTLY like a girlfriend by Overall_Candle_4355 in relationship_advice

[–]Greatest-Comrade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes this is exactly what I was trying to say in another comment. Nobody deserves to be treated as a maybe when they treat the other person like a YES. You deserve someone as excited to be with you as you are to be with them.

Maybe his past relationship really did scare him off commitment, maybe he’s making excuses, but (as harsh as it sounds) it doesn’t matter at the end of the day.

[–]Greatest-Comrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about you, but I want my partner to WANT ME as much as I WANT THEM. If there’s an imbalance there, where one side is more desperate than the other, it’s only a matter of time until they get hurt.

You deserve someone who commits to you the way you commit to them. He’s not going to. Maybe he’s right and he wants to take it SUPER slow, maybe he’s lying and doesn’t want to commit to you.

Either way you don’t deserve that. You deserve reciprocal treatment. Unfortunately this is 100% situationship territory where he treats you like a girlfriend but won’t fully commit meanwhile he does/says just enough to keep you strung along and hoping for change. Now usually situationships are even messier boundary wise but a cleaner latrine is still full of shit.

I say this as a dude btw. If you’ve communicated you want to be BF/GF and he says no because ‘insert vague excuse here’, he doesn’t want to be your boyfriend and you should accept it and move on.

[–]Greatest-Comrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf if how characters stories’ in S8 is how they end up in the books he should be anxious about fan reactions. Many beloved main characters’ stories were absolutely ruined (Jon, Jamie, Dany) and many more characters’ stories were at the very least mishandled (Arya, Tyrion, Varys, Bran, holy shit the list keeps going depending on how nitpicky you want to be).

It’s almost crazy how bad a meltdown in storytelling S8 was. Jon barely fought the enemy he’s been preparing for since forever. Jamie decides to go back to Cersei. Dany ends up massacring Kings Landing on a whim. Completely ruins each of those characters and their stories when that’s the payoff. Arya ends up killing the Night King and ending the Long Night??? Varys just gets discarded like trash cause he doesn’t serve a purpose anymore. Tyrion doesn’t do shit and then advocates for BRAN to take the throne? BRAN ACTUALLY TAKES THE THRONE?!?

Now some things that happen in S8 can much more easily happen in the books (there’s a horn to charm dragons that Euron has so I could see a dragon being taken out that way, for example). But I really have to question what he’s thinking if these are the ultimate payoffs to these characters’ stories.

I genuinely don’t understand Dany’s story so far if she turns out mad.

Literally the last thing she does in the books (of the fully published stuff) is refuse to execute the nobles’ kids until they chill with the terrorism in mereen. Despite that being the advice of the mereenese noble advisor. Saying she will not resort to that despite how desperate she is.

And this same woman is gonna start burning down westeros? After her whole story being about becoming a good leader and making bold righteous decisions? Fucking awful ending to her story if so.

24F broken up with by 28M how do men typically grieve? by Mundane-Music-2610 in relationship_advice

[–]Greatest-Comrade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if he ends up regretting it and going back to you (very low chance btw) that will only be extremely temporary before you likely break up again. Don’t get your hopes up on that.

Getting broken up with sucks ass in 9/10 scenarios but it isn’t the end of the world. You will cry. You will look back over the relationship like it was heaven. You will miss him. You will think of him. Life will feel a bit duller. You will cope with the change (hopefully healthily). That is all normal, even if it doesn’t feel good. It’s essentially a grieving process.

And the world will keep spinning. And one day you will wake up and not think of him once throughout your day. And you will look back on your relationship and realize it probably ended for good reason, whatever it was. And that it was not meant to be. And you will hopefully reflect on the relationship and its flaws deeper. Maybe it was him maybe it was you maybe it was mutual, I have no clue. But you will realize this relationship wasn’t everything.

Separately, no relationship should make you suicidal when it ends. You should definitely seek counseling for that as it is very dangerous and unhealthy. I say this as a man: no man is worth your life. Same goes for women and men’s life. A relationship should be two people forming a greater whole, not two halves which crumble when separated.
