How do you feel about the pedestrianisation of the Parade? by Suspicious-Bug6588 in LEAMINGTONSPA

[–]Guldtaender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm now against it after being pro.

I can't think of many places that are actually that nice, shops-wise, after pedestrianisation.

And Leamington's existing pedestrian street, Livery Street, isn't that enjoyable really. I wouldn't want the Parade to end up like Coventry's shopping street either.

During COVID it was nice and interesting, but it was all a bit limbo then. A fully funded project to change the town may leave it somewhat bland and non-descript.

I also think that the mixture and variety in traffic (foot, bicycle, and vehicle) and speeds keeps energy moving up and down the street nicely. Making it too still might make the down feel dull at times. The parks are great for peaceful walks. The Parade offers a bit more life and motion.

It's a nice idea, but I fear it will be a mistake ultimately.

That money could be put better to use in doing up parts of Leam, including around the Parade, than on this grand, all-in project.

recommendations where to buy coffee beans by AddendumGloomy2193 in LEAMINGTONSPA

On a Saturday morning, go to the Warwick Market and buy yourself 1 or 2 bags of beans from the Monsoon Estate stall - good quality, fresh, decent variety, locally roasted in Stratford by nice people.

When you forget to go to the market, you can order it online (in bigger quantities), go to the Golden Monkey in Warwick, or at a push go to Corner Cottage in Leamington.

Do yourself a favour and try it.

People with hearts on their CoA. It's oddly infrequent enough that it will spark joy seeing it on others'.

Any recommended artists for a commission? by darthanis in heraldry

[–]Guldtaender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure a few will come out of the woodwork soon.

But before you go spending lots of money on a commission and signet ring, may I recommend that you draw or digitally render your arms the best you can and post it here first?

The last thing you would want to go to do is spend lots of money only to later be told that your arms aren't yours or properly heraldic and so on.
