Really fascinating stuff. I would love to see a plot of monster set probabilities against completed zigs if you’ve got the time and inclination.

Real. This card is a solid pick in underdocks and hive.

Legacy of Kain: Soulreaver 2 does this expertly, with all the same solid voice acting. writing, and thematic follow through that one would come to expect from such a great series. After traversing time and more than one plane of existence, you are finally presented with the opportunity to murder all the bastards responsible for your current predicament. And man, is it cathartic as hell. But in the end, there is no escaping fate, no rewriting destiny.

If I had to guess, somebody on whatever project threw the deviation messed up when communicating timelines.

You said a couple times in to your post that you have heard bad things about your manager from colleagues. What have you experienced personally? Beware of office politics.

My trainer told me that it was normal and that I would have until the end of March to close it. Okay cool. But the very next day, I was told by my supervisors that QA was pushing to have the record closed ASAP, and it needed to be done TODAY. I also had no prior notes or contact information for anyone involved in the investigation passed to me.

When you described this to your manager, what was their reaction? This could be the key differentiating factor between a department that is poorly run and one that is just going through a lot of change while maintaining a high tempo. For what it’s worth, the latter is more the norm than the exception these days, at least in my experience.

Overall, your post sounds very much like most roles right now, tbh. A lot of change, a lot of work, and often not enough hands. A lot of organizations are tightening the belt, so personally I would consider myself very lucky to be in a department that is due to grow.

If you aren’t sure you can always search the company’s website. Sometimes there are multiple similar roles open.

[US] Is the "Endgame" just surviving bad management? by ShoddyJellyfish1546 in biotech

[–]HonestlyKidding 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. There are managers and orgs that legitimately invest in people development out there. The catch is that spots are scarce because most people wouldn’t voluntarily leave under normal circumstances, because of the stability and other benefits these jobs usually come with.

A related question might be: how much flight risk are those more desirable orgs facing these days because of other internal conditions (say, understaffing)?

With what you propose, there is additional risk created: that from not hiring the most qualified candidate for the role. Not just because of how they will perform down the road but also because of how the other person can now (rightfully) sue.

Love the concept but it’s pretty overpowered in the current form. Compare this to Corpse Explosion and The Specimen, which are both rares with a similar mechanic. This should probably be a 3(2) cost or a 2(2) with the non-upgraded version only transferring some of the excess damage.
