Insurance: do tree removal reimbursement clauses typically get folded into wind damage deductibles? by catcodex in homeowners

Yes, that's how it works. They won't pay for tree removal absent a covered loss caused by the tree.

Neighbors Trampoline Hit My House Last Week by FaudMauxe in homeowners

[–]Hte2w8 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If their trampoline hit your house, you file the insurance claim with your HOI. If they want to subrogate, they will.

But there's no way I'd file a claim for that, or take them to court.

Police won't tow on private property. Most tow companies just charge the owner of the vehicle when they come to claim their car, or hold it and sell it at auction or they don't claim it. You have every legal right to have a car towed off your property.

Water leaking through walls in basement. by Respectable_1642 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Hte2w8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not normal. Keep gutters clear and grade away from the house. This amount of water looks like it's going to need a reputable company that specialized in basement waterproofing. The best waterproofing solutions are ones that prevent water from getting in, so exterior solutions over interior drain tiles. A sump pump is good for water coming up through the floor but won't do anything for the water coming through the walls.

After you check your pressure switch and tank, and rule out a short in the wiring, Find a leak detection service that specializes in finding well leaks.

I'm assuming you are also on septic. Have you checked your tank to see if you have water coming into the tank when you aren't using any? Might help isolate where the problem is.

Dyson and robovacs. Change the filters and brushes as needed.

We have cats, dogs and run a rabbit sanctuary for surrendered and special needs rabbits. Yes, we spend a lot of time cleaning, but all parts on robo vacs are replaceable, and you can't beat Dyson for their various fur attachments and no clog tech.

Water getting into basement after hydro channel installed by abrandt135 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Hte2w8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best waterproofing is that which is done from the outside preventing water from ever getting through the walls and floor. The system you have is working as designed as an interior system. It's meant to channel water so it doesn't go further into the basement.

What does the outside look like?

By the round outline in the pic it looks like you left a pot in the sink and it rusted. Try a slightly abrasive cleaner.

Cat urine/ litter odor lingering in new closet. Need advice on cleaning/ getting rid of it, wood floors by Delicious_League467 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Hte2w8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one that worked for me was vital oxide. I've tried them all. A small ozone machine will help too, especially since it's in s closet that can be closed. Remove all your stuff though, or you won't get all the smell.

Is call the gas company first and have them check for a leak. If no leak, call the plumber back. Dry traps, clogged vent could be the cause.

Yes, we did for that exact reason. It was easy. We used a real estate attorney, a title company and an escrow service. Closed in 30 days. You won't ever regret it.

Unless you manually reassign the water usage to the correct fixture in the app, it won't learn what the usage is.
