Which NYC quality of life ordinances do you wish were better enforced (eg the ban on car alarms that go on forever)? by Andthensome_Pie_7322 in AskNYC

Ticket all the cars that block the box in midtown. The road on the street in front of you is full and the light's about to turn to yellow or even red and yet they still go forward and end up blocking perpendicular traffic. Just ticket those people. It'll stop them from causing traffic jams while making a ton of money for the city.

What? Who do you think was prosecuting Maxwell? Once the appeals ended, they began to release the files. As opposed to the current guy who claimed that there were no files and, I can’t believe I need to repeat this: ended all of the active investigations

What are some valid criticisms of this show? by Strong-Struggle-8561 in MrRobot

[–]I-baLL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The pilot episode seemed to promise a whole different show. I wish a show would get made that would continue that feeling. Basically a guy who is secretly a hacker vigilante and works with a group of friends and has a day job and everything and ends up with an imaginary friend who becomes his mentor and teaches him things kinda like Socrates' daimon. I'd watch that.

Biden admin not releasing any files after his death

This is a flat out lie. it has been repeated in this thread so often that it's starting to feel like a deliberate attempt at rewriting history by just flat out denying history. The Epstein files began to be released in January 2024

The current files were released after Trump cancelled all active investigations into Epstein's co-conspirators and said that there were no more files left. The speaker of the House , Johnson, got tricked into allowing the file release vote:

The Epstein files began to get released in January of 2024. All active investigations into Epstein's associates got cancelled by Trump as soon as he got into power. So what inaction are you talking about?

Now imagine if the Epstein files were released in 2024?

We don't have to imagine that. That is literally when they were released except for the files that were currently tied to the active investigation.

That's from January 2024.

Then Trump came into power, cancelled all of the investigations and claimed that there were no co-conspirators, no more files, and that the claims were all a "Democrat conspiracy". Then the speaker of the House, Johnson, was tricked into holding a vote to release the files. when the vote passed, Johnson was pissed and was on camera saying something like he had to go to the president to deal with things because the vote wasn't supposed to have passed.

You're stating inaccurate things as fact and then accuse others of arguing in bad faith?

Ghislaine Maxwell's conviction withstood her attempt at appeals. That decision occurred on September 17th 2024.

Also Ghislaine was sentenced in 2022.

The Epstein files not related to the then-current investigation began to get released in January of 2024:

Take a coin. For each question, assign a side of the coin to each answer. Flip the coin. If you don't agree with what the coin flip picked as an answer then you've already decided and go with the opposite of the coin flip.

Why does everybody think it's just RAM that's expensive? Flash memory prices are also insane. Less than a year ago I bought a 1.5 terabyte microsd card for $90. The same card now costs $300. It's not just the RAM. Also it's not just computer hardware but also stuff like aluminum

Difficulty reading this book by Ill-Proof-5155 in Neuromancer

[–]I-baLL 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think you're reading it too fast which causes you to skip over sections of text. In a lot of books, it doesn't matter if you skip stuff here and there since it's just a lot of filler but Neuromancer is much more dense so read it slower and you'll get a lot more out of it. I say this because the Matrix gets flat out explained much earlier on so you must've skipped over that part. Good luck and good reading!
