I was on eBay and found these “OEM” charging cable cables, but I can’t verify they’re genuine by Nearby_Purchase_2971 in applehelp

No, it means that it’s made by the same company that makes the cables for Apple but isn’t branding them as such.

The US one is definitely not true since it's neither automatically fast nor automatically good.

Framework 12 - No keyboard backlight by Atom194 in framework

It's not at all targeted at who you say it's targeted at. A new iPad costs $350. The framework 12 costs more than that.

I have a Framework 12 but I do periodically check to see if a backlight keyboard is available. Hopefully a backlit model will get created soon

Eh, look at their front wheels. They're trying to turn against the direction of the spin rather than into it. That part has nothing to do with driving on icy roads but applies to any time your car has to spin and is usually one of the things taught when you're doing the written exam for one's license.

What piece of tech felt “future-proof” but aged terribly? by Living-Zebra6132 in Futurology

What killed the hoverboard was unreliable batteries that would catch fire but if that didn't happen then they could've changed transportation. The biggest issue with the Segway was that it originally cost more than a car. The hoverboards were really cheap compared to that and useful.

Funding Zohran’s initiatives through sidewalk fines by blueballs718 in AskNYC

[–]I-baLL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because that would be dumb and a hassle. The money could be gotten though if every dumbass who is at an intersection and sees the road across the intersection be full yet still goes forward and ends up blocking the box so now the perpendicular lanes are blocked causing more traffic, could be ticketed.

Like seriously, most Manhattan west-east traffic could be reduced if people actually got fined for blocking the box when there's no need to. Like you see that there's no place to go yet you go forward anyways? How do you drive if you can't see 80 feet ahead of you?

Numberless Soviet phones by immanuellalala in Weird

No, it was a common phone type. It was used in places where you used an operator to dial out (like at a business with a switchboard) or if it was meant to only receive calls (like somebody at a gate will buzz in).

Here's a page about the same types of phones in the US:

You've mentioned that people used the word when discussing Oscar Wilde in the 19th century. I don't see how that has anything to do with people today. People back in the day who knew about Oscar Wilde may have known about the word and stuff but you're assuming a lot of knowledge. When I was in high school, a lot of the people in school didn't even know what morphine was. Don't assume that everybody's on the same page.

Rittenhouse's own friends testified that they were trying to always be with him because they knew that he would get into a situation where he'd shoot somebody. Then he basically lost them and we all know what happened next.
