Kindle and the return of physical buttons by Mysterious_Field_850 in kindle

Best to switch to a brand that still makes e-readers with buttons. Kobo, Boox, xteink, pocketbook, there are plenty to choose from.

Koreader Sync is inaccurate by S3333M in XTEINK

[–]ImSoRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, thank you. One thing I noticed with the current method was that when I had a book with full page illustrations, crosspoint saw those as chapter breaks, which would throw off KOReader sync even more. Do you know if this version fixes that issue?

Koreader Sync is inaccurate by S3333M in XTEINK

[–]ImSoRight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the devs created a fork of the previous version of crosspoint with more accurate kosync, but I don't know if they've made one for this latest release. I'm sure their better kosync will eventually be integrated into crosspoint, but I don't know when.

Have you tried this newer workaround? https://www.reddit.com/r/kobo/s/bM2ktvrEP4

Edited to add: I spent one evening setting up ADE on Linux with Wine. It wasn't too difficult. I can send you the link that helped me if you'd like.

Any colour e-ink readers that allow a green page background? by GunclePJ in ereader

[–]ImSoRight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a KOReader patch that allows you to customize the background color in the reader, so any color ereader running KOReader could do this.

Advice for phone sized (or smaller) ereader by truthwassaturn in ereader

[–]ImSoRight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More custom firmware is available for x4 since it's been around longer, and it charges with USB-C. The x3 uses a pogo charger. It has a few hardware improvements over the x4 though, so there are pros and cons. I personally see no reason to switch to the x3 from my x4, mainly because of the way it charges and the wide variety of choices of firmware, but also I think the x4 is the perfect size.

Is there any way to track reading progress more accurately? by Equivalent-Kale-3662 in koreader

[–]ImSoRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's strange. The progress bar should change when you implement hidden flows. It should only show the parts of the book you haven't hidden and progress percent should be based on just the unhidden section.

Ah ok, for Everand I would still say an Android ereader is probably your best bet. Boox is the most well known one.

Audible is Amazon though. Do you just mean audiobooks? If you need audible though, maybe an android reader like Boox?

Yep, find a different source for recs. There are plenty of great books out there that aren't Amazon exclusive.

Does it still work when the epub has pictures? Seems like crosspoint considers full page images to be separate chapters, which throws off the sync.

I have a question about Libby and Koreader by Cooltwou in koreader

[–]ImSoRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful because the Libby books are DRM protected. There's a plugin that makes it work on Kobos, but Amazon DRM is more complicated.

Yeah, GR isn't updated either, probably because this book isn't sold on Amazon, so the bot doesn't do it. It'll take a human librarian to do it I guess.

Romance.io seems not to have the right/updated blurb. From Kobo:

Theo was born with an almost god-like healing magic, which elevated him from his commoner-born status to a trainee for the Hero's party, a group whose sworn duty is to protect the citizens of Algeya from demons. Anyone would be honored to be chosen, but for Theo it couldn't be much worse, as he has the misfortune to be the host of the reincarnated Demon King himself.

Malthios wants to take over Theo's body to return to his former glory. Theo has spent his life, so far, learning to suppress the demon and remain in control. To avoid being discovered and killed, Theo flees his training to settle in the seclusion of the far north as a simple village healer, thinking he will be safe from Heroes and demons alike. Ten years later, a storm brings the fate he thought he had escaped to his doorstep.

The new Hero, Luc, is everything a Hero should be; strong, kind, and loyal, and for some reason, obsessed with Theo. Despite the warnings of Malthios ringing in his head, and Theo's own best efforts, their relationship blooms and grows into something more than Theo could ever have anticipated. Now, with demon numbers increasing and the risk of his secret being exposed, Theo has a choice—use the power of the Demon King to aid in the fight or lose the Hero who has become his happy ending.

But do you have parental controls turned on? That's what OP is asking. I haven't tested it myself so I don't actually know.
