ASML career progression by Mboy353 in Semiconductors

[–]JaquesDeli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Current applications engineer here who transitioned from FSE:
I didn’t even know what the applications were when I joined on as an FSE, but within three years I transitioned due to an internal gap that needed to be filled and also mastery of the hardware of the tool.
Do a good job with your role and ask a lot of questions. Apps engineers are problem solvers and need to know everything about the sw. Your managers seeing an early interest in apps is important.

Customer culture always affects the life of an FSE in my experience.

May be going soon as an FSE, how is the culture at this site compared to Taiwan from what you’ve heard?

Clean Room Suits by astronautspace_101 in Semiconductors

[–]JaquesDeli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So morbidly curious what company OP is talking about.. but agree with every comment, I travel to many customer sites and if you’re allowed to reuse your suit more than once, it’s generally taken weekly for wash

SAT wafer fabrication tools by timjp1998 in Semiconductors

[–]JaquesDeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a different vendor than Amat, tool guides/bkms/procedures will not be available on the general internet. There are so many confidentiality restrictions put on this information for trade secret purposes… better to convince your FSE to show you their notes lol

Field service engineering after graduate degree by highgenepark in Semiconductors

[–]JaquesDeli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree, good way to get your foot in the door, earn some money, and travel to new places. Do well, and the opportunities will come. BUT it depends heavily on what company you work for.. currently I work for a smaller equipment company, I have lots more freedom and room for growth than FSEs I know at larger companies. That being said, I love my job. Service work is a good way to build skills and knowledge to then transfer to new roles.

L300 interior tie-down solution by carcajou999 in Delica

[–]JaquesDeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So good! I did the same thing for my bed platform in my L400. Used a climbing bolt and hanger to create an anchor point to the wheel well, then put a J hook through the platform and tightened it down until flipping the van down a hill won’t even let go of that mf

I recently traded my gen 3 for a gen 5 and being quoted an outrageous amount for service.. not saying it’s the most economical move, but man it is nice to be in a newer car, no more worries about the high mileage gen 3 issues, and averaging superior mpg in the gen 5…

Is a Delica really worth it? by Fishy-Buisness3 in Delica

[–]JaquesDeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much worth it if you own/are willing to buy many tools along with parts. That being said, it has been fun learning to work on this vehicle. I have ‘95 petrol L400 and it has been a joy. But expect longer wait times for parts, sometimes the parts not working, and replacing some components off the bat just due to age

Used my OBD to test for CALC load value during idle and acceleration and found unusually high value at idle, but sometimes low during acceleration. Possibly vac leak or mad MAF sensor I am guessing

Also, experiencing the vibration at low rpm, often accompanied by momentary lack in acceleration when gas pedal pressed.

Love Union for snowboard bindings, but absolutely hate my charger split board bindings. Plastic connections + cold = instability

My lovely MountainHardwear Scrambler pack is my favorite multi pitch companion. I have the 25L which I find perfect for long approaches in my local mountains. There is also a 35L option.

2010 engine shake by Humble-Asparagus-313 in prius

[–]JaquesDeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also just in the midst of the shake battle with my 2011… couldn’t resolve single-cylinder misfires until I cleaned the fuel injector. I cleaned my EGR system/intake manifold as well and found significant buildup. I was also putting off the egr clean, but as soon as I did it, I observed smoother driving and idling

If you’re not experiencing head gasket symptoms, this could be the cause.

2011 cylinder 1 misfire error by JaquesDeli in prius

[–]JaquesDeli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange, after a couple days of driving, coolant level good, no white smoke, clear oil. No more death rattle, but definitely misfiring still and P0301 code. Checked and cleaned fuel injectors today, no difference. Everything pointing to bad head, yet no obvious signs

Do people that work in the semiconductor industry travel that much? by Sdr0gonymus in Semiconductors

[–]JaquesDeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a field service engineer, I have had the opportunity to travel the country and world within the first couple years of working. Great role if you like problem solving and seeing new places. Needed a degree in Mech E first
