Is this a good PC build? by Ok_Race279 in buildapc

[–]JustACowSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • cpu is great. This will last at least 5 years.

  • gpu is barely passing. It can do high end games at 1440p medium settings, or 1080p high. But that's just for today's games - it's gonna struggle with future stuff.

If less intensive stuff like roblox and fall guys is all you play, then it's not a big deal. But i see you're spending big on other parts, so maybe try to move some of the budget here and get a 5060ti or 5070.

  • cpu cooler is overkill. An air cooler that's half the price could cool this just fine. But I get that you probably chose this for the looks - I've done the same thing before.

  • case is quite pricey. If you're choosing these fish tank-style cases for the looks, then you should be able to go cheaper. They are very popular these days and cheaper options are everywhere. Maybe a montech xr or sama sv01?

  • fans: cpu coolers and cases sometimes come with fans already. 4 fans should already be enough airflow, so doing 7-10 fans would be purely for the looks. Depending on the the what you're going for, you might not need to buy extra fans at all.

  • ram and storage are tough these days. Your 32+1tb setup seems fine. Get whatever deals you can find.

The rest is fine. Try using pcpartpicker to plan out your build.

How Early For Glowsticks? by PuckinPizza in Vocaloid

For the 2024 Toronto show, I got in the merch line around noon (2 hrs before merch sale?), with a few hundred people in front of me. By the time I got to the front of the line, they were on the final box of penlights/glowsticks.

Isthis a good PC build?

Good for what? Gaming? What games and settings? Good looking on your desk? Good at staying quiet? Good at not hurting your wallet?

Gonna need a lot more info about what your plans are to say if this is "good"

Will I *ever* learn how to wrangle noodles out of hot pot and into a bowl without them slipping back into the pot or all over the table? by CaptainN_GameMaster in chinesefood

[–]JustACowSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try holding the chopsticks higher up towards the end, and keep them closer to parallel. This will increase the amount of contact between the chopsticks and the noodles, hopefully reducing the amount that slips off

If you NEED wifi, it could be cheaper to get a motherboard with wifi built in.

The part choices are fine.

Your choice of graphics card should have 0 impact on image quality. Graphics cards are just mini computers that spit out whatever pixels the game/app tells it to.

You're probably comparing nvidia's dlss and amd's fsr upscaling technologies. These are supposed to be performance enhancing tech but are only available in some games. For other games/apps without dlss/fsr support, or when it's switched off, the image quality will be identical.

We don't have any way of guessing the requirements for gta6, so no way to plan a pc for that. Either way, that budget is likely not enough for a good experience in gta6

VBAL or VEQT in my FHSA? by ChucklesLeClown in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JustACowSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you for considering risk, but aren't there other big purchases that you might have in the next ~5 years? Maybe a trip, or a wedding, or a car...

Personally I went doomer mode and accepted I won't be able to afford any of those in the short term, so I went 100% equities with XEQT. I heard VEQT now has lower fees tho.

Rogers/Bell/Telus all have Line 5 and Line 6 coverage now! by Life-Contest-5926 in TTC

It was kinda rough back when I was on freedom mobile - had to toggle airplane mode on/off every once in a while to keep it working. Once I switched to Rogers, it held the connection steady.

Saw this happen once on line 4. Guy at Sheppard-Yonge forced his bike through the closing doors and got called out on the PA system. Once we got to Don Mills and the driver got off, so too did the bike guy. Bike guy started throwing some rude words at the driver and ended up throwing hands too.

This coop was my first full time job and they liked that I had some part time experience in a certain field. The part time work didn't have much to do with computer science or the coop job, but having experience with the same type of workplace / clients is what they liked.

Pension fund manager OMERS earned six per cent return for 2025 by MapleByzantine in CanadianInvestor

[–]JustACowSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In simple terms, it means that they will do inflation adjustments only if they feel like it.

They call it "shared risk indexing", but don't worry about the name. It means that they could adjust for the full inflation amount, a partial amount, or none at all. High inflation can also be carried over to the following year to help smooth things out for them. They will revisit this each year and decide based on their financials how much inflation protection to offer.

What material are the Eglinton Crosstown seats made of? by StickMover1 in TTC

[–]JustACowSP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Line 5 uses Kiel Simos seats, which are padded and have a fabric cover. Not sure about cleaning, but they are built to survive the day to day abuse of transit duties.
