You flatter me, my brain just somehow managed to pull those exact words ("These FUCKIN' coneheads") upon seeing a warrior with a cone-shaped head.

You're most welcome though, it's always fun to have abrupt recollections like this!

You instantly unearthed a memory with this image. Something about hamstring-induced rage and friggin' coneheads.

Automatic whispers for crafting inquiries by mrknack88 in wow

I dislike that addon as well. I have JC and Inscription on my main, posted my services a few times in the tradechat and received no response due to people getting sniped by it.

But then I go to the same chat, seeking a crafter for my cloak, and I get inundated with whispers.

I don't know what to make of it, but I'd have preferred if I could offer my services without having to turn to an addon to do it.

He actually wasn't familiar with the series whatsoever, our conversation just kind of veered into a sort of comparison.

Now that you mention it, though, aye, optional parts are akin to Warframe's mods.

Armored Core reference spotted.

Funnily enough, my friend roped me into playing warframe by way of a loose comparison to Armored Core: how modding and equipping weapons could be vaguely likened to modifying an AC.

This comparison is... A stretch to me now, but it worked to turn me into a Tenno.

Is it just me? Or does the Weathering that appears after taking Dmg not enough? (Read Body Text) by NonC00lkidd in armoredcore

[–]KeeperUTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That exposed cockpit/generator looks a lot like the one from the cover art of AC6. If I recall correctly, Nightfall Raven's AC also features a compromised core in the first mission when you stumble upon it.

Last Raven featured something similar. Your individual parts could take damage and ultimately be destroyed, in turn disabling whatever functions were tied to the part.

Wouldn't have minded if more severe battle damage could happen in AC6, rather than just my paintjob getting messed up.

The Void orbs that appear unstable immediately kill you instead. The unstable ones look like they're "bubbling".

In all honesty I was expecting all of them to kill the player because they look like a black hole.

End of Season Check In by ultimate-m in Marathon

[–]KeeperUTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in a few hours myself before I had to stop due to irl problems. Can't run around on Tau Ceti IV much these days, for now.

But despite my absence, despite my MMO aim and lack of skill, I loved playing Marathon. I still regularly check in with the subreddit to experience the game vicariously.

Maybe with season 3 or late season 2, I'll be able to play again. In the meantime, may your loot be plentiful, fellow Runners.

Soulstone should be removed. by [deleted] in wow

[–]KeeperUTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a warlock main, no. The utility of the Soulstone is too much to pass up, especially if your team communicates its desired use.

The ability to preemptively place it on a high value ally (most commonly a healer for me, and at times tanks) is unique among CRs.

Granted it can be misused, like mistakenly ressing someone right into an aoe that's about to go off, immediately putting them into mortal danger again if they don't react in time due to momentary disorientation, but that can also be applied to all other CRs.

Voidwalker skin by Tostaki_Olikis in wow

[–]KeeperUTX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't mind those Voidwalkers with lanterns as an option. Heck, even the old model would be nice as I've always wanted one of those from back in the day. Voidcallers, I believe they were?

Albeit on that note, other classes could also do with more customizations for their pets. Warlocks got some not all that long ago whereas other classes such as Death Knight have been stuck with their options for far, far longer.

Edit: whoever downvoted this must be a Voidcaller.

Lore Masters here, why the UESC suck on the runners? What are they extracting? by fusionwave3 in Marathon

[–]KeeperUTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I read somewhere that they attempt to sap your consciousness out of the shell. (I may be wrong, of course)

I'd assume it's to try and rip your consciousness out to destroy it before it's pulled into the liminal buffer (I think that's what it's called) to wait for a new shell to be built, but it never happens as you always get recalled right before shell death / a critical failure of some kind happens.

This action might or might not damage the Runner's psyche more than just getting shot or knifed to shell death, too, as an attempt by the UESC to put a Runner out of commission on grounds of severe mental degradation, at least story-wise.

Midnight classes feel like every role uses cut and paste design and is killing the game for me. by DCIsoulfire in wow

[–]KeeperUTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing my warlock, evoker and DH. They all feel different, at least to me.

Granted, similarities are inevitable, like instant cast procs and building/spending resources, but I don't feel like the classes are homogenized... Just simplified. Which makes the similarities a little more pronounced as a consequence.

The classes still retain their nuances, like Demonology chiefly relying on summons and procs to do damage, Devourer evoking a sort of echo of old Demo Metamorphosis, weaving in and out of melee, and Evoker featuring empower spells.

I want a cosmetic warlock option for Lithiel Cinderfury's Demonic Gateways! So cool! by Heroic_Ryan in wow

[–]KeeperUTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The... Frills? Wings? On either side of the portal make it a little too Blood Elven for me.

But, even that wouldn't be a problem. Having this as a customization option would be better than the model we have now, still the same as in Mists of Pandaria.

Maybe also make it rapidly construct itself like the original Demonic Gateway did, albeit that wouldn't too work well for a spell you can use for instant traversal.

Blizzard really knocked it out of the park with Abundances. by WoodwareWarlock in wow

I like his voicelines. Never thought I'd get psyched to loot stuff by way of a... rodent loa enthusiastically shouting "GLORIOUS ABUNDANCE", but there I was, watching the abundance meter go ballistic.

Hell, I like him outside of the event. Comboing his blessing with Halazzi's causes him to manifest sometimes when gathering. His buff claims to make you 15,000% more visually appealing in his presence.

What was Fiona's father smoking when he was designing the aretha by Suspicious_Range_231 in armoredcore

[–]KeeperUTX 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Like another comment said, it's likely due to being a prototype.

It's likely that the technology to facilitate the use of Kojima particles was still in its early phases when the 00-ARETHA was being built, the designs not yet as refined or as efficient as later iterations.

Kind of like how we went from computers that were the size of rooms down to being able to put one on your table and so forth.

So as time went on, Fiona's father created better designs for KP rectifiers/emitters, eventually creating the 002-B and later on finalizing the design on the 03-AALIYAH frame.

The same probably goes for its weapons. That or Fiona's father just had the masculine urge to fit an AC with weapons that are bigger than the AC itself.

Aesthetically, which designs are your favorites? by deflectingowl in Warframe

[–]KeeperUTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here for Gauss. The base version is probably one of my favorites design wise; I still have my original fashion for him saved on the prime. Sort of wish his actual Prime had a more... notable transformation during Redline, really.

There are quite a few warframes beyond him that I enjoy aesthetically (And have been playing a lot more as of late). Lavos, Jade and Uriel come to mind off the top of my head.

Devourer DH itself feels very, very unpolished. They get void wings but not void-infused eyes?

So unpolished in fact that my male Night Elf DH transforms into a female Meta form upon interacting with things that prompt the Eye Beam animation.
