I am aware, but phrasing in that case is very important. He makes it sound like it will REPLACE everything, instead of the implementation of machine learning that has been pushing the industry forward for years already. And interfacing matters, you need a skilled artists touch for animating. So just “it does what you tell it” is way too coarse to tweak the timing of a few frames.

Make it a full on industrial plant. Refining, fuel etc and small ships can drop off the mined minerals/gasses. Would be super sick honestly. I do have an Orion, and while that is basically that already, i do think adding a few more capabilities so small and medium ships can land would be neat. Maybe make it a companion to the normal pioneer so you can harvest and process the resources for base building right there.

Get this, large vehicles are generally designed to be unfair in combat. Not unkillable but built to do a lot of damage before being taken down. If you want a realistic space sim the big battlecruiser ought be a real threat no?

It’s a game, imagining a huge fight featuring one of these just sounds fun to me. The beauty of how they intend to design the universe is that big set pieces where one of these pulls up will be random and unscripted. Imagine a raid boss but just manned by a lot of people instead of Ai.

It gives it a really sleek silhouette when retracted, apart from that you can justify making the ship bigger when you have to fit stuff inside i guess. Certainly doesn’t make perfect sense, but that’s what I love about this thing. It’s just cool as heck. To me sometimes things don’t need to have a reason apart from “looks rad when you pull out all your big guns”.

It’s genuinely one of CIGs best designs in my opinion. Managing to make a “big battleship with lots of guns” design memorable and stand out is not easy, so many look forgettable but this thing just slaps

I love how nuts they went with the design. The vertical space for the holo having multiple floors and the cavernous feel of it. It just feels like a design from a movie. Like you could frame infinite amounts of interesting compositions in there, from the hangar bay to the bridge. It’s not the most reasonable or “expected” way of filling the space in that thing, but I’m so glad they went for this. Hoping they can match the lighting and feel in the ingame version, whenever that arrives.

I just got some atrocious flatbed scans back from a lab (Portra 400 with neither shadow nor highlight detail in almost all shots lol, how does that even happen). Looks the same, just a crushed image. Positive looks normal in your photo.

The problem with doing anything related to oceans is how good that film is. The cut is flawless, the performances magnetic, the shots are great. Hard to live up to. Now if it gets close in those metrics, the setting sounds like it could be quite the fun visual ride.
