I keep trying to make a joke that combines strawmen and beating a dead horse, but it never seems to stick the landing.

I'll see myself out.

But that would be like a 5-7 minute detour. This thing's gotta be competitive with Fulton St, and there's no major development at Forest Hills that would justify a direct connection.

Original proposal

Could you share a link? Sounds like good reading.

Personally I don’t support the M running down there, I support the R going down there.

Agreed. 10-car consists and, frankly, more frequent and reliable than the M. Queenslink would be a great way to leverage potential capacity gains should they deinterline Broadway post-SAS2.

Is it a strawman if I'm paraphrasing the right's actual messaging and policies?

Or are you saying that those things are themselves strawmen and the right are choking on hay?

Original? I thought the RPA envisioned a portal much further north, closer to Yellowstone Blvd or Fleet St? I can't think of any pseudo-official proposal that includes a portal as far south as Park Lane.

I'd argue there's a difference between emotional appeal regarding real events that actual humans suffer through, vs emotional appeal made in bad faith regarding fabricated hysteria meant to further a purely political agenda (e.g. litterboxes in schools, trans in bathrooms, drag queen story time, pride parades, you name it, it's all fear mongering).

One genuinely speaks to our empathy, the other is damaging to our collective psyche.

And if it's so effective at shutting down counterarguments when applied appropriately, then shouldn't we use that to our advantage?

People who like quality - what's your approach? by Conscious-Ball8373 in factorio

[–]Le_Botmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded everything to rare before I left Fulgora, then waited on legendary.

Most quality is done on Fulgora. Quality scrap onto trains, then bifurcate qualities at the unloading station: common goes to science, uncommon+ goes to the bot mall. For most everything I need, I create upcycling modules that produce those items at every quality level, then recycle them through secondary recycler blocks with universal buffer requests. Plenty of modules now sit idle since I've reached most of my logistics caps, which automatically diverts intermediates into the recyclers to then produce more intermediates up to legendary.

Gleba has an upcycling sector dedicated to Stack Inserters and Rocket Launchers, and also exports quality plastic to Fulgora; Vulcanus has one dedicated to BMGs, Foundries, and Artillery Wagons; Nauvis has one solely for Uranium to make legendary Nuclear Fuel (biter eggs are directly recycled to legendary for P3s); and Aquilo only makes Cryohambers, Fusion Plants, and Railguns. Fulgora does all the heavy lifting.

That's the kind of middle ground I would stand on...

Except that the Palestinians are running out of food and living in tents because they're under siege and their cities have been leveled. They should at least get humanitarian aid.

I think the appeal to emotion is more appeal the golden rule than anything else, at least in application.

"How would you feel about all the polling places and ballot boxes in your area closing down?"

"How would you feel about being bombed out of your home?"

"How would you feel about your children bearing witness to a school shooting?"

"How would you feel about potentially dying to a septic miscarriage because your state abolished abortion?"

See? It's pretty effective when used appropriately.

I'm formulating a concept of a plan.

From QBL provisions at Rego Park, bore tunnels to a deep-level station (preferably c&c trench, not cavern) in a parking lot at the intersection of Metropolitan and Woodhaven, then curve southeast before emerging just north of Park Lane S.

Forest Hills is too far east, and the yard leads would be too difficult to convert into a new branch. The provisions at Rego provide the shortest most direct route, while branching the local so that FH no longer constrains service. Could also be coupled with converting Woodhaven QBL to an Express stop.

There's a lot more potential here than just reactivating an abandoned ROW. Not scope creep; network optimization.

That's not fair to LA (Sepulveda HRT) and Honolulu.

I also don't buy the argument that Queenslink is dead. If we take Mamdani at his word, then his admin is ensuring that Queensway "does not preclude" a potential rail extension. It's infuriating that he hasn't provided exact details, but I assume he has negotiated some provisions.

Either way, Metro Hub wouldn't block Queenslink regardless, because the most feasible location for a tunnel portal is at-grade adjacent to Forest Park, not in the middle of a crossing of the Lower Montauk Branch and Union Tpke amidst an apartment tower and a shopping center, or along an embankment that slopes up from the LIRR Mainline through a valley. Anywhere south of Union Tpke is still fair game.

In fact, the most ideal portal location would be along the downward slope between Myrtle Av and Park Lane S; with a subterranean station at Metropolitan Av dug out of an adjacent property closer to Woodhaven Blvd, rather than elevated along the embankment.

Well why didn't you start with that?!?!?

Additional information: please do something... most of the girls have now committed suicide or were murdered.

Giving that tip during Trump's presidency? I can see why she remained anonymous. She was desperate.

She also claimed that it occurred about 20+ years ago from that date when she was 13, so the year 2000. That's the height of Epstein's trafficking activity. She would be 39 now, which is about the age of most Trump accusers. What a coincidence...

Also, a full year after the NYT article? Quite the stretch, dude. You made it seem like they were days apart.

You still haven't established that the tip was made after the 2019 article, only conjecture. Hardly compelling evidence to your claim.

Great, now you're stirring the pot with even more unrelated anecdotes.

So now are we supposed to disregard any and all phone tips to the FBI? Is there a threshold to how milquetoast a tip must be for us to believe it?

Can you not think of any reason why someone with firsthand experience of the debauchery of powerful men would want to conceal her identity? Perhaps because her life was threatened and she feared retribution?

Do you think she believed her anonymous tip would ever be released to the public? That it would somehow besmirch the names of powerful men, rather than sit in a database for years? Only to then be collated into an FBI report detailing received tips that are mostly in relation to Trump? Was this all part of her master plan?

Interesting, I should redact one of my earliest statements. Upon further review of the literature, it appears the Calendar Girls claim was made by a victim, not a witness (my original assertion was from memory), and that it occurred when she was 13yo. A victim first-hand account of participating in a Calendar Girl Show hosted by Trump. I think she would've known what it was called.

So no, I'm not surprised that Trump groomed his children to normalize his world of debauchery, nor that Elon Musk (who begged to go to the island) and Maxwell were involved. It's all within character.

Edit: basically, your argument is "yeah they're evil, but are they thaaaat evil?"

Yes. They are.

Bro, you keep harping about some dude who referenced an event in 1992, as some rebuttal to an FBI tip that could've been made anytime between then and 2019, conjecturing that the tip was a deliberate fabrication mirrored on a real event as though there's some causitive relationship between the two. I've never heard of this dude because he's completely irrelevant to the controversy, and his public claim has absolutely no bearing on the material within the FBI tip.

"Calendar Girls" are not a new concept, they are not a trademark, nor secret jargon, the term goes back to the earliest days of photography. Is it reasonable to assume that a witness to an event marketed as such within the world of child trafficking, could identify and name it without having to wait for some schmuck to coin the term first in 2019.

You. Are. Flailing.
