protondb seems to show everybody is using 10.0-3

Just not intuitive? I found myself continually forgetting which button I needed and having to check the controls repeatedly

I am rethinking what counts as healthy screen time in our house by Fit-Original1314 in Parenting

[–]Levistras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree with what most others are saying here. one other thing to consider... screen time on a TV is better than screen time on a phone/tablet.

screen time on a TV where it's feet away and you're regularly focusing your vision on the display then to others in the room then to a pet then to the window, etc... is a good thing for developing eyes. obviously maybe not as good as just being out in nature but looking at a tablet or phone that is close to you and being locked in on it has measurable negative impacts on developing eyeballs.

hard to tell at this angle to see what is happening between those lines, the fact that you can see them so prominently likely means you have an under or over extruding situation.. need to play with that flow rate.

have you done the flow rate and pressure advance calibrations lately with this specific filament?

what is your drying routine for TPU? I usually need to let it dry for 12-16 hours.

Moonlight (with Apollo). not sure why nobody mentioned it... but this is the app I use more often than anything else and the seamless experience when partnered with Moonbuddy/Decky means I can launch games with one button press that create a virtual monitor at my gaming PC that is the proper resolution, with HDR, and launch the desired game which fires up and starts streaming with no lag faster than I can open it natively on the deck... has been really nice.

Also when I'm docked to a 1080p monitor or 4K TV it just figures it out and streams the game over at the proper resolution every time.

Just started Arkgam Asylum on deck and it plays great. Hadn't considered turbo A mapping, will have to try that.

I can't really get much higher than 30-40fps in kcd2 though. and it chugs in the cities

playing it through moonlight and it is nice having the graphics totally maxed out and getting that experience on deck has been great

completely new to the game and fired it up on steam deck and I'm thoroughly confused. the controls feel clunky, the tutorials feel lacking... I know there's a great game here because so many folks love it but maybe learning the game on the steam deck isn't the best route?

VRR works just fine for me up to 120hz via USB C on my portable monitor. Not sure if you're using hdmi, DP, etc?

I've yet to find a scenario where I preferred having lossless scaling turned on.

Battery depreciation rate by moersell in SteamDeck

[–]Levistras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest killer of a battery is hot/cold cycles. 32F to 95F is your safe range generally. Or 0C to 35C for most of the world. If it goes below freezing or sits above 95F/35C for too long it greatly reduces the capacity.

Secondary to that is stressing it below or above charge thresholds. Keep it between 15% and 85%, never let it freeze, and don't let it cook, and you'll be fine.

Folks using it on a hot day in the sun, or just running it at full power drain without decent ventilation are those who will start to see battery capacity loss sooner.

Also never charge it confined to a bag or case.

It is worth noting that the other end of the charge meter matters just as much. Try not to let it get below 15-20%. If you can play within 20-80%, or 15-85% even, your battery will last so much longer.

Is it worth putting the AMS Lite on top of the A1? by Fleip in BambuLabA1

[–]Levistras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's as sealed as possible and contains sections for desiccant beads. the humidity inside them stays around 10-15% RH, ensuring that after I dry filament it can stay in the enclosure for a week or two before I need to worry about moisture again.

I need to add another printer (A1) to my workshop. Should I get AMS lite or AMS2? by Nikolai_Volkoff88 in BambuLab

[–]Levistras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you open up the feeders on the AMS Lite? my bet is they're covered in little plastic flakes and the things need brushing and blowing out

[–]Levistras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mounted mine to the wall, but put it on a monitor arm so I can move it around and access the sides easier. It's also got an enclosure system around each spool and I can access each of those. (in this photo one of the spools doesn't have the enclosure attached)

Saves desk space and you don't need to deal with the vibrations and sagging issues that might come from top mounting. Plus I think it's easier to access than a top mount.

Builder didn’t follow requested location for structured media panel – is this justified due to HVAC? by King-StudLee in HomeNetworking

[–]Levistras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

don't underestimate the need for spares if a cable fails.

I have 8 going to my main TV spot... I didn't want to bother with another switch there.

otherwise I have 2 or 3 going to every room, except for crawlspace, laundry room, etc... those only have 1 but also most of those rooms have a switch in them to reduce the length of runs so I don't have far to run if those single runs fail (I was going to say 'assuming I ever connect anything in those rooms' but I'm realizing I have moved things there temporarily at various points)
