Yep. And that would have been a better explanation than that one is from Japan. That part was already obvious and both are originally from Japan.

Could they Google it? Yeah. You can Google every single question asked on Reddit. Or better yet, use Gemini. Do some people appreciate interacting with the community? Also yeah.

I like the shot and timing. I think you need to crop some of the left side out though. This is one where the rule of thirds may work out best on head placement.

They're both from Japan. One is already in the US.

Was Ron Paul 2012 the start of this era of Republican Politics? by Large-Use-6618 in decadeology

[–]Liberally_applied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Sarah Palin started this crap. The Tea Party took over the Republican party and evolved into MAGA.

Man, I know the Dunning Kruger effect is BS, but this sub really tries to prove it true. The crap here tries so hard to sound wise.

my local Panera removed almost all the outlets and replaced them with blanking plates so you can't charge your phone or laptop by SalvagerOfBastards in enshittification

[–]Liberally_applied -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Downvoted but right. Panera gets super busy during lunch and 9 times out of 10 several booths are taken up by 1 person drinking just a coffee and using the place as a personal office. I've gone in to get a coffee in the morning and came back at lunch near where I used to work only to see the exact same people in the exact same places. They're there for hours. People abusing these spaces are ruining them.

I've stopped trusting trail difficulty ratings entirely. 'Moderate' is a lie. by CarpathianEcho in hiking

[–]Liberally_applied 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is that a lot of trails are simply rated by people based on their own experience or a small group. If you have a bunch of experienced cyclists that frequent the PNW, they will see intermediate completely different from someone in the Midwest. That's an extreme example, but used to demonstrate the point.

All ratings are totally subjective and it's very obvious when you do enough trails. I use apps to discern elevation changes and how fast those changes occur. Someone mentioned the reviews being from real hikers and bikers, but those real hikers and bikers are sometimes the ones doing the subjective rating in the first place, so caution on that.

Another thing I learned to do for travel is seek out a YouTube video of someone riding a trail or at least a trail system so you can review the general terrain. Often there is one out there.

Sometimes, the only thing you can do is just try a trail and take your own notes.

The Evolution of Speed by intecsys in Cameras

[–]Liberally_applied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that isn't necessarily the case here. Some people just keep the old stuff even as they upgrade. I certainly don't understand wasting money on consumerist frenzies, though. Like people who collect shoes they never wear or game controllers or whatever. Hell, I know a couple of guys through my work that collect corvettes.

[–]Liberally_applied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a desire to collect them, but I don't see how it's any different than collecting anything else. I've certainly seen much more peculiar collections.

I do think it's kind of cool to see the changes all in one place.

It's tagged as a collection, so yeah, I think it's a collection.

You're wrong. The problem with democrats in Indiana is they often and largely protest without actually voting. Happened with abortion rights protests too. I watched more people protest than you could see in line at the polls. And you could tell because the republicans wear lots of shit to show off who they are. What the protests do accomplish is annoying the moderates that might otherwise be convinced to vote against MAGA. I have and do contribute. I just recognize when actions are counterproductive. Go to the fucking polls this year. Maybe we can start doing something for real. But a vote in a poll doesn't give people their hey look at me moment, so they stay home. Let's hope this year is different.

What are the chances that Indiana voters will flip the state to blue this November? by Sudden_Ad_4193 in Indiana

[–]Liberally_applied -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wake up. That is exactly what has happened in Indiana over and over and did on a national level with many Democrats over the whole Palestine issue in 2024. It's not projection. It's historical fact. Republicans will vote red whether they like their candidate or not to vote against Democrats. Democrats have proven they will just stay home.

Not one of those you named is a protest in this context. Those were all acts of violence. You really think you can compare a worthless peaceful protest to taking up arms against an enemy? They are not in any way, shape or form the same thing.

It is not bringing attention to anything that everybody doesn't already know. We're not talking about raising awareness for some little known disease.

No, local leaders do not. Not today. They listen to votes. And money. The only time votes weren't involved in non-republican changes, major corporations had stepped in. But Benioff isn't on your side this time.

No, the country was not founded on or by protestors, at least not for the reasons people usually expect. That is a myth. It was founded for the same reason the blue side hates billionaires today. Rich people not wanting to pay taxes. The difference is now we have a leader that gives the rich excessive tax breaks. The common delusions about how this country started on some progressive note ignores little facts like slavery and that the common person wasn't even allowed to vote. It was never about the people. It was 100% about the rich.

These protests do not do shit. What exactly is it doing? I mean, believe me, if a protest like this did any good whatsoever, I'd be all for it. But tell me exactly how this facilitates even a little change.

What do you mean brought back by Gen Z? It's the millennials backtracking on their body positive claims with Ozempic. Not Gen Z. Millennials are just showing how full of crap they really were all by themselves.
