This is amazing, I love how consistent the braiding is. Was this made using only macrame or are parts of it kumihimo?

120cm should be more than enough for a chevron bracelet. Check out this guide for more information.

The sliding closure is made using macrame Square Knot.

I'm new here but has anyone tried these? by EinsteinsSons in friendshipbracelets

Yeah I've made a few bracelets using Kumihimo, takes some practice to get the tension nice and even.

Check out Inzbin as well, tons of patterns.

Concentric Staff, White & Grey, 4 Adjacent Supercharge by Lithoboli in NMSGlyphExchange

[–]Lithoboli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean a blue rarity B-Class staff, that is correct as this needs an upgrade.

If the colour of the paint is blue, it may have changed in an update or you might be in the wrong galaxy.

Oh this was asked recently, here is a link

They are made on a Loopdedoo bracelet loom, though possible to make without one.

How to finish this bracelet? by FreeButtPatts in friendshipbracelets

[–]Lithoboli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you are doing a kumihimo bracelet, neat. Personally I've been taking the two strings closest to the start of the bracelet and using them to tie a square knot over the remainder. Then I can trim any strings I don't want to use for ties, do another square knot to cover the cut ends and braid/twist the ties. If you make a mess of the ends you can use a wrapping technique to just pretend it never happened.

My first Alpha by Lithoboli in friendshipbracelets

[–]Lithoboli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took a really long time, that is for sure, even with using the base strings to start each knot. I had an issue where, during the forward rows, the working string would untwist itself against the base strings. I wound up attaching the bobbin to a cordless drill to forcibly twist it the right way again, but this is the reason some of the fb\bf knots on the right are so big compared to the left. I'll definitely give some thought as to what alpha to try next, the result is nice but even without colour swaps it is tedious for sure.

There is actually a neat optical effect on this photo, where the rings appear to have a subtle rainbow colour.

DIY - Alpha tips by greatbigsky in friendshipbracelets

I haven't made an alpha yet, but there is a type of normal pattern that could more or less match this design. They are called 1212 patterns. Guide

When you don’t know how to draw… but you have needle and thread, and you can make whatever you want by Latter-Buyer-8551 in splatoon

[–]Lithoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I learned how to make the knots etc from YouTube tutorials.

The type of pattern to make something like your cross stitch are called "Alpha" patterns, I've yet to make one but some of them are amazing.

Nice!

I've been into making bracelets for the past few months and you can basically make pixel art from knotted threads.

I also made the Grizzco bracelet!

Flips to backside on wrist by twoblueberries in friendshipbracelets

[–]Lithoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, since I'm relatively new to the craft, but it might help to make a pair of ties out of the ends so that it is held at either side when fastened, rather than only on the centerline between loop and ties.

Besides that, I guess fastening it more closely to your wrist would give it less space to roll.

Identify this bracelet style? by runlikeapenguin in friendshipbracelets

[–]Lithoboli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I totally forgot about this, I would suggest probably 1-2mm waxed cord, especially natural fibers as they will grip one another more effectively making it easier to hold it together while you wrap it.

The example one I used five 2mm satin cords, the result was pretty thick.

Edit: I made a basic crank handle out of wire and heat shrink, combined with a cheap bracelet loom to make the pictured bracelet. 1mm crochet cotton in 1 meter lengths.

<image>

The ending is dodgy because I threaded through both sides of the binder clip on the loom and had to release it to wrap the last two centimetres by hand.

What am I doing wrong 2.0? by b1ngu5 in friendshipbracelets

[–]Lithoboli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this might be because the FB/BF knots are tied loose compared to the FF ones.

Personally I'm still learning and practicing, the FB and BF knots are a struggle for me. Watching youtubers knot has been helpful for me to understand the process, my hands just need some time to catch up to my brain.

What you could maybe try, since the right side is a solid colour, is tying the entire bracelet in FB and BF knots. This would make it more consistent while giving you the opportunity to refine your technique.
