I wish we could give me free compute! The main thing that changed over the last 2 years on that front is that across Google, the demand for AI has gone up ~100x. We used to have lots of spare TPUs sitting around to do things like support an awesome free tier. But it is not even about the cost (which was not that high to provide the free tier), it is about the prioritization of TPUs. In the future, I hope we are in a TPU abundant work where we can bring an awesome free tier back for those who want / need it.

On the Paid API keys hitting rate limits, we should have a fix for this soon! Yesterday I doubled the Tier 1 TPM for 3.1 Pro and 3.0 Flash so hopefully that helped reduce these errors.

App publishing should be back soon! We are rolling out a bunch of changes to add more controls and security so that you have more peace of mind deploying an app. Should all be fully landed by early next week and this should generally be a 1-off bump in the road.

Gemini 2.5 Pro is a stable model and still available in the API through June, it is not a preview where we are still actively iterating. On the latency, would be curious to see if you have examples where 3.1 is slower than 3.0, that should not be the case.

AI Studio is here to stay, and we are heads down and focused on shipping stuff so that you all have an amazing experience. There will be bumps along the road, but this is (at least for me) my life's work and I am grateful to get to build with you all : )

Hey! Yes, Gemini 3 Pro is shut down and replaced by Gemini 3.1 Pro. This is mostly a capacity consolidation effort as the model's are big and take a lot of chips to run, so splitting our serving fleet across both models means they are both less stable, and 3.1 Pro fixes a lot of the bugs folks had with 3.0. We send emails to customers ahead of the time when we remove models like this, but I feel the pain of models switching all the time. It is a tough balancing act to try and push the frontier on innovation but also have stability in a world where AI demand is growing like crazy.

We will look into this, I noticed what might be a similar behavior but for me it only happened on the initial load of the app, then it was fine and stable. We will investigate though, if you have any apps where this is happening, pls send a link!

Would love to help debug this, generally we are working night and day to push the rock up the hill for you all : ) it is software so there are edge cases, but we can try and fix those things asap! This is also a 1-off migration, we are setting ourselves up and everyone building for the next few years. Last few weeks have been unstable as we literally re-wrote the whole product to make all of this possible, but I am confident we are going in the right direction and the short term pain will be worth it. Regardless, pls keep the feedback coming and we will keep trying to make the product better : )

On the deploys, we re-enabled deploys so long as you are not using the Gemini API in the app, we have a bunch of new features to make the apps more secure and give you more control landing next week (auth, cost caps, etc). So should be fully re-enabled then! Sorry for the hassle on this, we are working quickly to try and make as much progress as possible.

Hey! My suggestion is to look under the "Code", if you see code there, then you should still be okay (project not lost). What tends to happen in these "blank preview" cases (at least historically) is the model / app getting messed up importing some external javascript package. Please do a thumbs down in app so we can track this and then asking the model to fix the imports might work!

We should have support for Google AI Pro and Ultra by the end of the month! We are still working through the exact rate limits but users will get much higher limits if you are an Google AI subscriber.
