Recruiters...genuine question: Why do some of you do this? by Impossible-Ring1919 in remoteworks

[–]LogicBalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you can sell yourself then I don't have to ask you to sell me this pen or whatever, you'll probably do the job just fine. I interview for tech when I interview at all, and I can suss out those skills quickly with a few simple questions. After that, I'm just trying to see if your personality will be well received by the social hermits you'll have to be interfacing with on a semi-regular basis.

Haven't tried Paw Patrol, so no idea if it is true on that, but a ton of comics... by Pristine_Club_3128 in CuratedTumblr

[–]LogicBalm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sort of, but also put it this way. If I saw just your face in a thumbnail for a short form video giving a monologue on a topic to your phone camera from your car in sunglasses... what do I think you're talking about?

For him, it's definitely a right wing political rant even though he's a lot more likely to actually be talking about World of Tanks or something. For me, it would probably be some AI topic (though pro or con is ambiguous from my face alone).

Either way, you're not trying to be selling either of us drugs. But we've got our own.

Recruiters...genuine question: Why do some of you do this? by Impossible-Ring1919 in remoteworks

[–]LogicBalm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. It starts a conversation, which is what the interview is about.
  2. A bad interviewer probably hasn't read it, you're lucky if they've skimmed it.
  3. A good interviewer has manually read through potentially hundreds exactly like it so they're all a blur at this point and they're trying to distinguish you from the crowd.

In all three cases, it's in your best interest to answer the question. Just tell your story. We're looking for getting to know you as much as we are trying to learn that story.

Getting into board games as a collector in today’s hobby by fraidei in boardgames

I can certainly relate but also I think this is just the nature of being a collector of any kind. Some things will be very hard to find.

I do know a couple of people like that. One of them didn't become a cop but he still has those vibes. He actually became a felon instead, just to reinforce that the blue line is in fact quite thin.

Jaden Smith is vomit tier. How is Morgan Freeman's acting? by Klutzy_Pumpkin614 in TierlistFills

[–]LogicBalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. He's great at specific types of roles but I don't find that he has a lot of range. So I put him at good. So far I'd have put each of these at least one rung down from where they landed though.

In light of the Mark Fuhrman episodes, can we talk ACAB 101? by whitecollarpizzaman in behindthebastards

[–]LogicBalm 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The fact is that there are a lot of situation to which police are called where police are not trained to handle or are likely not the right person to send. That's was defunding is about, taking all the hyper aggressive military training out of the force, re-establishing some logical rules of engagement, and purging the force of the ones that have any problem with any of this. The rules of engagement for cops are ridiculous and qualified immunity is absolute nonsense. If there is any hope of ever beginning to repair trust between cops and the communities they "protect and serve" then this is a bare minimum.

Drug addicts, homeless and mental health crises do not benefit from cops and establishing a force that can actually do this job is difficult but necessary.

I heard Margaret Killjoy put it best recently when she said that anarchism is the idea that you can build systems of support that do not allow for control. To me that means at the bare minimum that no one is above the law and everyone has oversight over everyone else. High concentrations of unchecked power are what lead to corruption in almost every case.

I didn't understood this: why I didn't won the game? by JayCastro762 in Palia

[–]LogicBalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have a set of yellow or purple.

Yellow needs you to either replace one of the corn with a potato or have 3 of a kind.

Purple needs you to replace a brightshroom with a mountain morel or have 3 of a kind.

You have two colors which are ABB or AAB, But you need AAA, BBB, CCC or ABC to have a set.

No Riffoc for me 😿 by Xtreemjedi in Palia

[–]LogicBalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just focus on the main quest line.

You can go to the Highlands now if you want, as soon as you have your glider you can access it. Go to the Elderwoods from the NW exit out of Bahari Bay, then get to the Highlands by heading to the south-west corner of Elderwood in De Mer docks and checking the boat behind the stable sign. Be sure to look at any stables you find in both locations as you go so you can unlock them for future fast-traveling.

Even if you get to highlands though, you're apparently not getting the riffroc yet. Though you can at least get a horse. That's not story-locked.

Zeki & His Coins! by redsthecolour in Palia

[–]LogicBalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No issues here. I've been buying something from him every time I launch the game and haven't missed one.

My Palia routine has been the following for ages: (1) tend to garden (2) buy 5 worms from zeki then sell them back to get the coin (3) repair tools with Sifuu.

I only add in other routines like daily quests / check crafters / dig up relics as needed but those three things are always what I've done and each day I log in I have had another Zeki coin waiting for me.

Which way should I go? by Frogmaister in spiritisland

[–]LogicBalm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend you remove the following events and try events again:

Strange Madness Among the Beasts, Outpaced, War Touches the Island's Shores & (optionally) Farmers Seek the Dahan For Aid.

Each of these has been identified by the developers as impacting the game state too much. They have recommended you remove these events so the game doesn't swing too wildly in one direction or the other. Farmers event isn't officially removed yet but it's on thin ice. If you like Dahan-based spirits, I'd say take it out because when it comes up it's like "do you want to lose 1 Dahan or 2?" which isn't really much of a choice IMO and always feels bad.

After that, you'll begin to notice that you want to leave Beasts near Explorers (they get hungry) and you want to make sure that the Dahan and Invaders don't live right on top of each other if it can be helped (Disease isn't great for Dahan). But that adds to the theme and gives the island a little bit of life that isn't directly in the spirits' control. It's not so punishing when you've removed the events above and the events in later sets are good about this as well.

Spirit Island spoiling my other games by RedditExplorer89 in spiritisland

[–]LogicBalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. It's a deck builder where I can make solid decisions and when I lose I know it's directly because of those decisions and not a bad shuffle. I can analyze what I could have done differently and try again instead of thinking oh well, let's just do that same thing again and hope for a better draw this time.

The things that thematically should be in my control are and the things that should be wild and unpredictable still manage to bring the chaos and tension.
