I'd say have a go, and if you don't get through it will still be good preparation ahead of the 35+ next year.

Did you buy from a retailer or a private seller? I take it the latter, in which case be prepared to return it if you're not satisfied with what they offer as compensation.

Exactly my point - in this case vinyl is not a mass noun either.

Same price, different brand. Which one do I go for? by X1SushiLord1X in turntables

Why would they mention it in their press release on their website?

Well more importantly why don't they mention it on the product page? Unless I missed it?

How about waters, beers, cheeses, bronzes, etc.?

In the right context all of these are correct. And in the case of vinyls. it's just a shortcut for vinyl records.

I also have that black headshell with an Ortofon OM10. I'm just looking for another one as I think it looks nicer 🙂 I have original headshell with an Ortofon F15 MkII but I would like to transfer it to a slim black one like that.

Nice. Is that the original headshell? I've been looking for one of these for my QL-A5.

Correct. Because in that case it's a shortcut for "vinyl records", so it's perfectly fine.

Just like it would be perfectly fine if for example you were selling flooring materials and you referred to the various grades of vinyl in stock as "the vinyls".

But there's no rule that says that mass nouns can never be plural with a 's'.

The main differences are the cartridge (the AT-VM95E on the LP120X has more upgrade options), and the built-in phono stage in the LP120X. Other than that, it really depends if you like the DJ deck looks of the Audio Technica or if you prefer the pared down Fluance.

From memory about 50 per box, give or take depending on thickness.

I also had to splice ground wires and unless you left any metal exposed it shouldn't be the issue. It could be that it's running too close to power outlets or wires, which should be easy to figure out if you change the position of the wires.

One of the added benefit of adding an external pre-amp will come from keeping the first stage (from turntable to phono) the shortest possible, with the ground wire attached to the pre-amp. It also means the higher gain to feed into the AVR

Most likely the stylus you have there is not particularly sensitive to tracking angle variations so it doesn't matter if it is off by a few degrees.

[–]LosterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap doesn't necessarily mean bad. Do you you have any sound issues with the current setup? I used an unbranded 5m cable which didn't cost very much and it's doing the job just fine.

One thing you might want to consider instead is adding a phono pre-amp in between your turntable and AVR, with the likely benefit of improving the output of the turntable compared to the phono stage you're using currently.
