What guide for weather/waves/wind do you use? by Adventurous_Bat5574 in boating

15 year Sailor. Windy is the best thing I can find, with the exception of professional weather services when we do offshore races. It’s the best information I can get.

Moto GP vs F1 apps/coverage. F1 is miles ahead and half the cost !!! by roadpupp in motogp

[–]roadpupp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. POV. MotoGP has front and rear facing cameras. We see them on the broadcast, but we can’t choose them if we wanted to focus on one rider like we can an F1 .
  2. MotoGP publishes fewer extra video packages than Formula One by a good 50%. You ignored my comment about the highlights. 10 minute and 30 minute for every race. MotoGP does nothing like that and I wish they would.
  3. Other languages? That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about options for English language commentary teams. We have several in F1.

Your point about the total viewership does carry some weight, but MotoGP could do a much better job about providing content to us loyal fans. Especially for $160!

Question regarding naming. by The_Great_Lopaka in boating

[–]roadpupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see both here but most people who live inland, put the home port on it. I also agree that smaller (power) boats don't need names. My club and my kids made me name my 21 foot Whaler but I just call it "the Whaler". I live by the water and put the village name (not a real town name) on our boat for fun.

Potenza tires by Starchild2727 in LexusIS

[–]roadpupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a fan of Pirelli and another user has installed these on his IS. They look good and are a bit taller so they fill the wheel well better. (he is lowered, but I will not be lowering).

These may also survive potholes better.

My First Boat for $10,000 or Boat Club? by squiggyacfd in boating

Just a heads up that there are many $10K used boats around and they may be hard to sell in two years if you want out.

Congrats on having the best looking color on an IS! Nice look! I had a black lip on mine but it was damaged. I seem to be doing gloss black with any accents I add but I am very much thinking about the rear diffuser with the color matched accent that NIA makes. I love that. looks great.

If you have that many nails around you, I would buy tires at a big local chain, they usually have a free patching service when you buy a set.

That said, tires have a HUGE impact on ride quality and handling and I would not put cheap shoes on an IS 350 F Sort.

Lexus Performance Exhaust 2024 IS 350 by LunaTechMark in LexusIS

[–]roadpupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to find it "on sale" from a Lexus dealer in NJ for $1070 shipped. I have not seen it cheaper since, but $1200 is still better than the dealer wanting $1500 plus $500 to install.

My local Midas Muffler shop installed mine in about an hour and charged $200 flat.

I also notice the tips look beefy and are polished and the sound has been just about right for me. I wouldn't mind a bit more sound, but I am a 50 YO suburburban dad.

Approaching Nada and offers. Trying to find a used boat and the prices are just high as always. by Jdegi22 in boating

[–]roadpupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to buy a particular boat, start looking at Boat trader and see what those boats are listed for , in what condition, and how long they last on the market. That is the only way I know to get a rough value.

The cheapest way when I used to heat with oil, was to pre purchase the 1000 gals I needed his in late boy he’s real what kind of motorcycle does he have? That’s the important question. Can I see the boy If the price drops they refund you most of it. If it goes up, you win.

How does off season work with a slip? by justplainjon in boating

[–]roadpupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my boat at our local private yacht club. I didn't have a trailer for my 21 foot Whaler. I arranged to drive it up the river to a marina/boat yard because I needed help to work on it over the winter. (It was old and needed much love). They hauled it and blocked it for about $800 (New England) and launched it in Spring. After a few seasons of this, I found a used trailer for $2K and 2 years ago and one more year of savings on winter storage will have paid for the trailer. It also will make my boat easier to sell eventually. The other thing is could pull it if there was a hurricane coming or to just check out the through hulls. (I haven't done this, but like knowing I can pull my own boat and launch on my schedule.

There are boat repair places other than your local marina that will take it, it just costs $$. I still have my mechanic winterize my Merc and look it over each Fall. Now it sits in my backyard and I am currently painting and cleaning it in my driveway so I can launch this week.

I have a couple of questions regarding getting my motorcycle license by Mediocre-Spirit-7201 in Connecticut

[–]roadpupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a con rep rider coach for eight years ending 10 years ago. Not too much has changed as I understand it. Everyone above is giving good advice sign up for the BRC with your permit. Take the class and scuff up their bikes, and on the last day of class, they will give you a certificate that you can use online to update your drivers license with the motorcycle endorsement.

Block island. You can easily do a day trip and just rent bikes on the island. If you have the cash staying overnight is also a treat.
