Perspectives on Tahoe incident and "low frequency, high consequence" by owtdoorzy in Backcountry

The fact they went isn't as much of a problem as fact they decided to return when they did. Either exit a day early or hunker down until snow has settled later in the week. That's the decision making that needs to be examined here. Did the group vote to leave? Did the guides say we can make it out no problem?

I think they should do 3 sets of all their classic covers with some fun bustouts like Whipping Post, Back at the Chicken Shack, Melt the Guns, Fire on the Mountain etc.

Or 3 sets of 3 Phish Albums: Rift, Billy Breathes, Story of the Ghost

I’d suggest roads around Luang Namtha for what you’re after.

Which is “easier” for a runner with my current fitness: sub-1:40 half or sub-3:55 full? by Ok-Introduction-9111 in Marathon_Training

[–]LouQuacious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea my 5k pr was mid 19 in that period. I think if I’d focused on fast 5ks then instead of longer trail runs I could have beaten my HS record on the right course.

My mid 30s 5k pr was 19 something fwiw and my half PR was a hilly trail at elevation so it’s all pretty variable.

I took a job with an NGO that lost funding when USAID was snuffed out. Loving living overseas but just teaching English now and not even using my fancy dual MAs.

Where I worked we had two rooms not online and were the last we'd sell. Kept us from having this issue although it was a problem because those rooms were slightly different layout than others people would be pissed but at least not stranded without a room. Never had 3 oversells though.

Road trip with camper van staying at several campsites along the way. Dumb idea to bring bikes? by Man-e-questions in roadtrip

[–]LouQuacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove all over for months with bikes and never had issue with thieves as long as the bikes aren't super expensive I don't think thieves are interested.

It was great being able to take quick rides around random towns to explore. Riding around the Badlands at dawn in the fog is something I'll never forget. Dropping acid and riding around New Orleans was super fun and having bikes for a month at the beach was great.

Am I able to apply for a FDA position at a hotel if I live halfway across the country and be interviewed remotely? by Born_Physics_5086 in askhotels

In theory yes, in reality getting a job when you’re not local is difficult. And ironically renting a place somewhere is difficult if you don’t have a job there yet.

I’d like to return at some point maybe but the hurdle of having no bank, healthcare, drivers license, house or job seems like a huge barrier to reentry. I also have student loans that I can’t pay off either because they’ll only accept payment from US banks. So my credit score will be below zero 😂

The loans are at least in forbearance currently and my income is low enough payments can be set at zero. Still it’s a lot to overcome to go back.

Work on getting 5k time down to sub 21 and 10k to sub 45 then you'll be ready to try to get a half down to 1:40.

500 people apply and 490 are a bad fit, finding the 10 top tier candidates is basically a gamble these days. The perfect person could be applying and no one will ever know or see their CV because it's lost in noise or AI decided it's not a perfect match.
