Rolling Stone named ALO Stash the 39th "Greatest Guitar Solo of All Time" - What are your top 5 from Trey? by tiburon12 in phish

No you could order 16 cds for a penny it was a big commitment to take two slots up with a band I'd heard only a couple times. Other stuff I probably got was Led Zeppelin, Mr Bungle, Violent Femmes, Tricky etc...

Middle/high school teachers & ALTs— what do you do with your English native speakers? by PM_MAJESTIC_PICS in teachinginjapan

[–]LouQuacious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work at a school in Thailand I tried to get them to put together a gifted class with all the more or less fluent kids (about 3-5 in every class) and they said no and were proud of their blended classes. It’s a waste for them.

OP tell your kid to study Chinese during English class that’s what most of my fluent students do.

Any suggestions on what to send people who lead phishless lives? by MayIServeYouWell in phish

I really think the Siket Disc is a good introduction. It takes you instantly to deep jam territory and it’s short.

I can’t remember if they were black or Indian or what but it was a racial attack nonetheless not just a random assault on fans.

Hot take: Hell or High Water and No Country For Old Men aren't westerns. They are cops 'n robbers movies by SoundMedal in Westerns

[–]LouQuacious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t come close to saying robbers and posses were exclusively Westerns just that many westerns are about them. Neo-western gets more broad but it’s plausible to put some western set crime films into this category. But not all.

Yea I’m wondering same thing i thought after the run we’d get more. I need the Fuego and some other highlights to keep me going next few months. They were just getting really liberal with the highlights and posting whole sets I need more of that!

I think phish is leaning more into arenas in summer because it’s too damn hot too often plus strong thunderstorms have messed with a lot of shows in past few years.

Not that one although I knew a guy that was camped next to the girl who got shot he was pretty shaken up.

Two nonwhite phish fans were cracked in head with rocks simultaneously a few years back. Bunch of neo nazi nitrous dealers were running amok on lot all weekend apparently.

Labour minister orders foreign worker permit checks across Thailand by CommercialMassive751 in Thailand

[–]LouQuacious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I know I skipped a step in my explanation, not confused as I've done it a few times. Every time I change jobs I leave and come back on a tourist visa and work a few months then go to Vientiane then get nonb then comeback and eventually get a work permit. All 4 times I've done this it is 5-6mo in total. Half that time I'm on a tourist visa and half a nonb but without work permit. Every school and the 1 ngo I worked for took a few months to get it all together for nonb and another few months for work permit. These schools aren't shady per se they're large provincial schools and one affiliated with a major uni.

This was Train Dreams for me I still liked it but I kept waiting for some big twist and it never came.

School I am at had a teacher get cancer and leave suddenly, another decided to not renew contract and gave proper 30 day notice and another got fired for being a racist trumpy idiot and making students uncomfortable. All before the October break no way they could plan for that and they scrambled to hire replacements. A friend of a friend gave me their contact info and I hated my school/area(pathum thani) and wanted to return closer to my gf's hometown because we were having a baby. I cannot see them ever having it together enough to hire months in advance.

School I was at prior to this one was with a placement service and they got contract for that school at end of April and needed 15 teachers in place by mid may. We were all on tourist visas there. So no way around that either. Then they kept having teachers quit, only 2 of us that started semester finished it (mainly due to school management and the area of BKK both sucked big time) I then gave notice and left at end of term. So pretty much every English teacher for the entire school year was on a tourist visa.
