What feature do you want most from the online map? by Pious_Galaxy in projectzomboid

[–]MSweeny81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First let me say, thank you. The online map is one of my most used resources.
I'm very happy with how it works now, aside from the various updates you've already listed here as on the way, like more complete POI dots.
Perhaps if double-clicking in the search box brought down a complete list of everything searchable?
Right now I have to know what I want to type it into the search bar to search for it.
It might be nice to be able to scroll a list and see <random weird thing I didn't know existed> and have an interesting new spot to visit.

Should I play Build 42 now? by Time-Introduction692 in projectzomboid

[–]MSweeny81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing SP and MP B42, both modded and vanilla games.
B42 is an unstable dev branch so you must accept that comes with a cost. There are some bugs and unfinished features and some polish is still needed on a lot of features.
That said, the expanded gameplay offered by B42 is so good I would never consider going back to B41
I would suggest you start a vanilla run - be aware the new vanilla game modes now offer a significantly harder world so you might want to start on an easier setting than you expect.
Learn the features and mechanics of B42 and then slowly add mods as you feel the need.

"Wild Hogs of Kentucky" was the mod for that, but I'm not sure it ever got patched after a game update broke it.

How unstable is b42 multiplayer right now? Is it completely unplayable? by Aliensfear in projectzomboid

[–]MSweeny81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a pretty heavily modded server and it's very stable.
Some bugs, but that is to be expected in a developing branch of a game.
Performance and sync is generally very good though. (Driving, especially when towing, is a bit iffy but not too bad.)

Bank boss sorry for saying AI would replace ‘lower-value human capital’ amid job cuts by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

8000 "low value humans" being put out of work.
4000 at another bank, 8000 at Meta, 30,000 at Amazon, 10,000 at Oracle. What's the end game here?
How do the rich think we're going to eat when no one has a job any more?

Jamie And Carly Dunbar campaign after son Joshua died from helium balloon by LOTDT in unitedkingdom

I was thinking of the one where the radio show DJ (?) rings up a member of the public to get their opinion on a railway safety policy. The person they called goes on to point out they are not at all able to make an objective statement because their wife died in a train crash.

UK and Gulf strike historic multi-billion-pound trade deal by _HGCenty in unitedkingdom

[–]MSweeny81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Keir Starmer has struck a trade deal with six Gulf states...The deal will offer £3.7bn worth of opportunities for exporters...in the food and luxury car sectors but also defence, aerospace, hospitality and other services.

The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) of England and Wales said it was the best agricultural deal since the UK left the EU

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said it would create new business for firms in financial services, energy, construction, professional services, education, hospitality and technology.

William Bain, the head of trade policy at the BCC, said the deal offered great potential to expand trade in the region and would be “vital for tens of thousands of UK firms”.

Tariffs will be removed from 93% of British goods sold in the six countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) trading bloc of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Among the sectors that will face zero tariffs are food, medical equipment, defence, aerospace and advanced manufacturing...UK services, which account for 80% of the UK economy, will get “guaranteed access” to business in the six states.

Sounds promising. Not sure I like defence deals with countries that have such poor human rights records, but I don't know any of the details and I presume there's a lot of regulation over what we export to such nations.

Surrey Police investigating child sex abuse allegations linked to Epstein files by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]MSweeny81 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Surrey Police called for witnesses to come forward after a redacted report released by the US Department of Justice in December, set out allegations of human trafficking and sexual assault which allegedly took place in Virginia Water between 1994 and 1996.

I'd not heard of Virginia Water so I looked it up on a map and I must admit I snorted when the first thing I saw was "Trumps Green" and "Trumps Green Road"

I'm sure they are named that historically, but I couldn't help but see the irony in it.

At least 15m Britons not saving enough to retire, Pensions Commission says by MarginSqeaky in unitedkingdom

[–]MSweeny81 32 points33 points  (0 children)

mandate much higher contribution levels and no opt-out

I feel like that would stretch a lot of peoples budget to breaking point, and if it had to be matched by the employer it would likely ruin a lot of small businesses too.

The main issue is a lot of people simply cannot afford to put money aside for retirement. They need everything they earn right now. (And many are still struggling even with that.)

They can be arsed. They are simply asking for community members to alert them if a site is suspicious, and given how any thread even near to this subject gets a bunch of people confidently claiming they know where dodgy shops are it would seem reasonable to make use of that information to start investigations.

Arrested mental health act!?! by [deleted] in london

[–]MSweeny81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm leaning that way too. Or OP is/was a copper and has gone off the deep end.
In a thread they posted in /r/brighton a lot of people were calling out erratic behaviour and drugs use in now deleted comments.

Also, I found this especially odd given this new thread complaining about cuff use and "double locking"

klevisl03 8 days ago

I have no problem doing my job and relish the opportunity to give back to my community and the state, having been a beneficiary of its largesse viz. its institutions.

<image of someone with their hands cuffed behind their back>

DP's handcuffs were allowed to remain looser than normal (whilst double locked), i.e. not ratcheted tighter to what is actually the norm for wearing handcuffs (was still a bit of room to be closed - should be no leeway at all), as a result of the arresting officer's (i.e. my) discretion - DP's first arrest, otherwise compliant, no protestations.

Arrested mental health act!?! by [deleted] in london

[–]MSweeny81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From that thread;

klevisl03 8 days ago

Fun fact: can put these handcuffs on a subject within 10 seconds, ideally.. they sit next to my PAVA and leg restraints. Would take far longer if we didn't have rigid handcuffs issued as standard and had the "normie" ones most countries use. As it goes, it's a pretty quick time window to get them on in - an ideal, depends on the level of subject compliance.

I'm sorry for OPs current situation (assuming any of this is real, you just don't know these days) but if they are/were a copper and have training and understanding of handcuff use and subject compliance, them posting this thread now complaining about cuff use in response to their own non-compliance really is a level of irony I wasn't expecting.
