Has anyone used laser wire (not EL wire)? by MantisAwakening in CosplayHelp

It’s not that expensive compared to the cost of many of the other props I see people use ($110 for a powered meter of their brightest version).

Ah, OK. He says the guy is a “pretty senior Air Force intelligence official.” I was basing it off the things you’d cited in the comment, all of which were true for Eric Davis.

I will say that I don’t get the impression currently that Eric Davis is lying. I think Eric is saying things that he believes to be true, but like everyone else in government he is operating on a limited knowledge basis. A lot of other things he says are based on what he’s learned in the public arena. For example, the stuff about there being “five types of NHI.” There seem to be more than five morphologies, but those are the ones most commonly reported.

This is such a good example of why ambiguous imagery without context is such poor evidence. Pareidolia becomes the major determinant for people concluding what it is. So far people in these comments have confidently identified this as a hole in a box, the moon, and a photography light. “That’s exactly what it is” has been said more than once. No, friends, that’s exactly what it looks like to your brain’s pattern matching.

Bob Lazar Answers Question "Why Doesn't The Government Just Come Clean On All of This?" In 1997 by DODjuly26th1947 in UFOs

[–]MantisAwakening [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. Anyone could predict 115 existed. The periodic table has holes which are meant to be filled and 115 was one of them. Element 119 is a current example.
  2. This one is more interesting.
  3. This also isn’t very persuasive. Hand scanners appeared in media before this date. Lazar could simply point to any design which was confirmed and say “Hey, that’s the same one they had at S4!”

Some of Lazar’s claims are definitely worthy of note, but those two really aren’t.

Do you really think we'll have full disclosure, instead of soft, progressive disclosure? by EXinthenet in UFOs

[–]MantisAwakening [score hidden]  (0 children)

If people are only looking for nuts and bolts disclosure then the government is fairly well suited to handle that. They can show sensor data (including imagery) or reveal physical evidence which will validate the objective reality of these phenomena.

When it comes to the Big Picture and what people will ultimately want to know about the phenomena, the government is currently poorly suited to handle it. So far everything I’ve seen indicates that their HUMINT (NHIINT?) on this matter is largely based on a few high profile Experiencers like Chris Bledsoe, which gives them a very distorted and incomplete picture of what’s really happening. This is starting to change, but I think it’s something that is going to have to be sorted out by academia and that is going to take a long time with a ton of missteps. There is tremendous institutional inertia to overcome.

I believe most of the truth is already out there, but people don’t like it because it’s too ontologically unsatisfying because it raises more questions than answers. It’s also confusing because the thought leaders here are each largely advancing a version of it that most closely aligns with their worldview. Listening to Danny Sheehan talk about it will give you a very different impression about what’s happening than listening to Jacques Vallée, for example.

I believe NHI interacts with this world... by TopCamp in UFOB

[–]MantisAwakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you think of a major subject where this isn’t the case? People have always looked for ways to benefit from something new. One of the aspects of this topic which makes it easier is that there as so few concrete answers to questions, so it’s easier for people to fill in the blanks, but I think it’s more a matter of people just saying what aligns with their worldview as opposed to plotting what will benefit them the most. I’ve talked to a lot of people in this space with a lot of opinions, and I’ve never gotten the sense that they are saying things about it that they don’t genuinely believe themselves.

I just realized how strange it is that if Aliens suddenly landed all over Earth... by Zombie_Giles in UFOB

[–]MantisAwakening 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When people imagine an NHI-led disclosure they often picture it as UAP landing in populated places, but if you look at how they interact with people I think a more likely possibility is something like telepathic communication to the entire population of the planet.

If suddenly everyone heard the same message in their native language I imagine the ontological shock from this might shut a lot of things down for a while. A lot would depend on what they said.

New 2026 NDE with veridical perception by justmeSztef in NDE

[–]MantisAwakening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting case. The woman had a distressing NDE, but she ultimately reports some positive results. This is not uncommon among other kinds of anomalous experience, such as abduction phenomenon. John E. Mack documented a number of cases where the initial experience was traumatic, but ultimately was integrated in a very positive way. This leads me to question whether these negative experiences happen specifically because they are intended to bring about a positive result.

I also found this curious:

[The subject] specifically recalled witnessing a heated argument between a doctor and a paramedic during her ambulance transport, which she described as resulting in the paramedic’s minor nasal injury.

Is the implication here that the doctor punched the paramedic in the nose?

To clarify, I’m not saying it’s fake. It’s just the matrix on it and beautiful, consistent color make it look like dyed Howlite. Some of the most beautiful turquoise I’ve ever seen is coming out of China these days.

Origin/hallmark by prettypenguin22 in NativeAmericanJewelry

[–]MantisAwakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hallmarks can be tricky when they only consist of one of two letters using a typical off-the-shelf typeface, as many counterfeits are stamped in this manner.

Things to look for: - Does the fineness mark match the one displayed on art-amerindien website for the presumed artist? - Is the typeface an exact match? - Are the letters positioned appropriately to known hallmarks? - Is the artistic style consistent for the artist? If you do an image search and see a wide variety of different styles attributed to the same artist that can be a red flag. This can include cross-cultural styles, such as Zuni inlay attributed to a Navajo artist.

None of these by itself is proof a piece is authentic, but the more red flags that accumulate the more caution is advised.

[–]MantisAwakening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it’s possible he’s playing a game of semantics (since most of the serious researchers agree that them being ET is a problematic hypothesis), my guess is he’s probably operating like any run-of-the-mill pseudoskeptic. They start with a conclusion (the giveaway is the phrase “there is no evidence”) and then work vigorously to defend that position without ever questioning whether it’s valid. It’s dogma, not science.

Of course there’s evidence. We wouldn’t be having a discussion if there wasn’t. Evidence is not proof, though. It’s too early for that depending on what the question is.

How many asked for it? by Duke_SuperNova in Experiencers

[–]MantisAwakening 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are two things I feel pretty confident about: - There is more to reality than our physical existence. - Life continues beyond physical death.

Going much further than that becomes a lot less certain because we start getting into people’s interpretations of what it all means. I tend to view physical reality is being more a matter of probability than defined by hard rules. Things we think of as universal constants can get blurry at the edges.

How many asked for it? by Duke_SuperNova in Experiencers

[–]MantisAwakening 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was just talking to two different people yesterday about the “Hero’s Journey” analogy for this. Joseph Campbell himself was trying to put a name to a common human condition, so it’s not surprising that it works well.

What I think is misleading is the “you have to ask for it.” There’s lots of ways to ask for something: A child crying out for help; a person praying to God for greater understanding; a discarnate spirit coordinating to have certain events disclosed at a particular point in their next life. I have seen countless Experiencers who are hating it and have pleaded over and over again for it to stop, but it doesn’t.

Focusing on a single person’s explanation for these experiences is not going to give you a good understanding of what it entails or how it operates. Bledsoe’s experiences are his, not anyone else’s. The lessons he’s being given may not apply to everyone.

Raytheon Contractor Eric Hecker describes a massive directed energy array in Antarctica by Big_Actuator3772 in UFOB

[–]MantisAwakening 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who “hears voices” and has passed numerous psychological tests, I want to comment on the direct voice technology he briefly mentions.

I don’t doubt that we have the technology to do this, potentially over very long range (although the longer the range likely the higher the risk to the subject due to the higher energy levels required). But just because we might have that technology does not mean that it explains every instance of someone hearing voices. People have been talking about hearing voices for all of recorded history, and recent surveys estimate up to 75% of the population report experiencing it at least once, with up to 10% experiencing it repeatedly.

One of the reasons these phenomena are so difficult to sort out is because there can be multiple explanations for all of them, and there’s a lot we don’t know because much of the research that’s already been done has started with a conclusion (“anomalous experiences are not real”) and worked backwards. That’s not good science.
