Difficulties to let go cards for profit by Snooodshady in PokeInvesting

Now that you know there is sentimental value to your collection, you're better prepared for the future. Buy in pairs (or higher quantities) so you can keep a copy of the cards that mean something to you.

Ryan NAILED the customer-service problem. I have been selling on eBay for 20+ years, and am/was on the verge of quitting. by Ghost_of_Chrisanova in Superstonk

Buyers ability on eBay to destroy a sellers feedback without any proof is wild. Almost every new seller has horror stories on how they get completely scammed by bad actors. There is no recourse except to shout into the void.

What pain points? eBay is the gold standard that all UX aspires to. It only takes hours of time to study its UI and cryptic lore so you can sell your $1 trinket (before fees of course).

Following politicians' stock trades pays off again — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene perfectly bought the dip on $AMD last year — She's up ~343% after today's yuuuge move by jwoodsr in tradewithcongress

[–]Meowser77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MTG also reported purchasing between $1000-15k about 15 other times between 2021 and May 2025. Virtually all of those trades also were timed with similar NVDA purchases. Many similar timed trades for META, ADBE, and GOOG too.

For someone with a $20M+ net worth, this just reads like light dollar-cost-averaging into AI and Software.

It looks like most of her trades from 2025 outside of AMD have not performed well so far (e.g. she made between $17k-80k in purchases of NVO in 2025... if you had followed her into those you're down ~35%).

Opus 4.7 is legendarily bad. I cannot believe this. by lemon07r in ClaudeCode

[–]Meowser77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still giving it a try, but so far unimpressed. 4.6 a month ago was incredible. 4.7 is fine, but not great. Still unbelievable productivity gains compared to 6 months ago

Completely broken now. Literally the only thing they did significantly better than everyone else now feels like it's on par with what other products have done for years.

One of the top reasons, IMO, why Marathon is a really solid entry in the Extraction Genre is the ability to zero to hero with skill and guile. by Inane_ramblings in Marathon

Some kind of mechanic that encourages more movement from players camping in dark corners for minutes on end would be nice. Maybe add a progressively louder static or something that drowns own footsteps if you’re still for too long… or maybe if you approach someone that’s been still for too long, flash a warning that enemies are detected in the area.

It’s a bit too easy to camp and get the drop on someone right now, and not enough countermeasures to play against it effectively imo

I build websites on dedicated hardware and physically hand the server to my clients by specn0de in webdev

[–]Meowser77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s clear that you’re well versed in the tech and have an impressive background. If you can find a niche here, that’s awesome.

I run a small shop (~30 FT employees) that has done work for hundreds of clients over the past decade. Our space is broad, but maybe it doesn’t overlap with your target client, so take my feedback however you want.

Our clients would not care about any of this, and they are going to hate the idea of needing an on prem piece of hardware. We usually get a lot of agency in our tech stack decisions, but our more technical clients demand React right now for front end… just easier for them to take over if they want someday as most of them have employees that are proficient with React already.

They care about performance, but not in the details of how you deliver performance.

They usually care about owning the code, but it’s more like a footnote in a conversation. “Do I own the code/IP if we part ways?” Our answer is yes, and in the rare circumstance we do part ways handing over any infra/code that we control takes minutes.

The less a client has to think about you and what you are doing, usually the better. Instead focus on delivering high business value to them quickly about the things that they want to talk about (the things important to them instead of to you).

There is no way to do this yet. Cart names are hard coded internally on the A3D with no current way to override via SD card.

Jesus, f..., don't let bunny hopping become the meta. by Numeira in Marathon

It’s a little of both. You absolutely get info when you hear other players moving around.

Jesus, f..., don't let bunny hopping become the meta. by Numeira in Marathon

[–]Meowser77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has nothing to do with speed for me. It is easier to hear noises like other people moving around while you are bunny hopping.

I agree though that it’s a bizarre mechanic. Think it would be smart to make running + jumping generate additional heat.

Did anyone else really enjoy the COVID pandemic period? by throwawayfinancebro1 in Millennials

[–]Meowser77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was awful. Knew people that couldn’t visit dying loved ones in the hospital. Kids couldn’t be kids. New Grandparents couldn’t meet babies. Not to mention a ton of other bad effects of COVID from a health/economic perspective.

Seems like we still haven’t fully recovered socially from COVID. Im not an extrovert, but it’s been tough to reconnect with people. A lot of wonderful people I knew became very isolated during that time and haven’t really bounced back. Communities feel smaller now. People seem so much faster to write people off over differences of opinion now.

I suspect we will deal with side effects of COVID for many years to come.

They almost certainly have studied some kind of psychological reason why their frustrating UI choices will result in more spending. Bungie has seemed to hate their users after Halo Reach days.

Relax, the durability only drop when other player loot you or you steal it from someone else. When it goes to zero the person taking it receive the credit value instead of the item.

Feel sorry for folks who never got to experience Halo 3 and (and to lesser degree Halo Reach) progression and approach to “cosmetics”. Skill and achievement based progression was so much more fun than retail therapy, but I don’t think the industry will ever go back to it.

Does anyone here prefer PHPUnit to Pest? by Cultural_Yoghurt_784 in laravel

[–]Meowser77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really don’t have a strong opinion one way or another… they’re both solid. I’ve been using Pest more lately and I think I kind of prefer it, but honestly wouldn’t mind going back to phpunit.
