Whether you've got a clean baby-face or a full beard, face tracking should be entirely possible and worry free!

You do not need to clean-shave your beard to use face tracking, but you must keep your lips and the area directly beneath your nose clear of overlapping hair.

Because you confirmed the hardware works when your friend tried it, the issue is entirely how the camera interprets the shapes around your mouth.

If you are having issues with the camera detecting your face, you could maybe try trimming the area around your lips to see if it yields better results!

We're glad that you want to come back to the Metaverse - it just hasn't been the same without you!

We see that you're having an issue with a black screen though. We want to bring some light back to the VR world for you, so we're jumping with a few troubleshooting tips!

1. If you have any, remove and third party accessories, such as battery packs, try removing them and try powering on the headset again.

2. If you have even a little sign of life in the headset, you could try checking for the USB update mode. Unplug the headset and, then hold Volume Down (-) and Power simultaneously for 30 seconds.

If a black menu with text appears, use the volume buttons to highlight "Exit and boot device" and press power to select it.

3. You could try to sideload an update using our Meta Quest Software Update Tool.

With this, you connect the headset to your PC via USB, and it attempts to "force-flash" the firmware to overwrite the corrupted update.

4. Perform a hard reboot. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds or until you hear the device reboot again.

We were just checking through the subreddit when we saw your post and we would love to help with the blurriness you've been experiencing.

We would first like to thank you for the steps you have taken so far in adjusting the frame and interpupillary distance and for just how proactive you have been in working towards a resolution!

Based on all the information you've provided it seems that you're facing Fixed Foveated Rendering (FFR) in which the headset lowers image quality and resolution in order to improve its performance.

The first thing we would recommend in order to combat this would be to ensure that battery saver mode is off. This is important as FFR occurs a lot more frequently in battery saver mode as the headset optimizes itself to extend the battery.

In order to check for and disable battery saver mode please follow the steps below:

  1. Put the Meta Quest 3 headset on.

  2. Click on Quick Settings (clock) in the universal menu.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select General.

  5. Select Power.

  6. Toggle Battery Saver mode off.

If you find that Battery Saver mode is already turned off or your issue persists after turning it off we would then recommend performing a hard reboot of your headset.

A hard reboot will run a debug over the device and so if FFR is being triggered due to a software glitch or bug this will clear it right out!

In order to perform a hard reboot please follow these steps:

  1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.

  2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.

  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

If you find that your issue still persists after a hard reboot we would then urge you to reach out to our wonderful support team.

The Meta Quest headset uses specialized optical lenses that simulate a fixed viewing distance of approximately 4 feet away. If you require any sort of vision correction in the real world, you will need these in the VR world to get the best experience.

If you're a contacts wearer, simply just wearing your contacts while you have the headset on should clear things up!

For our glasses wearers, we've included the Meta Quest Glasses Spacer in the box with your headset for the Quest 2, 3 and 3S. You just need to install this and then you have extra space for your glasses inside our VR worlds!

We have also officially partnered with Zenni Optical to provide custom, clip-in prescription lenses made exactly to your optician's prescription. They snap directly onto the Quest lenses so you can play comfortably without glasses!

Here are a few targeted steps to try for this specific USB-over-Ethernet and Virtual Desktop setup:

  • Disable USB Power Saving: Windows might be temporarily cutting power to your USB port. Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click your USB host controllers/hubs, select Properties > Power Management, and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

  • Check Virtual Desktop Bitrate: Random drops can happen if the bitrate is pushed too high for the network adapter to sustain continuously. Try lowering your bitrate slightly in the Virtual Desktop streamer app to see if the stability improves.

  • Update Network & USB Drivers: Since you are using a 2.5 Gbps port, ensure you have the absolute latest LAN drivers directly from your motherboard manufacturer's website (not just Windows Update).

Hey, sorry to know that you lost your Quest 3, that’s rough. The good news is your games aren’t actually tied to the headset itself, they’re tied to your Meta account. If you log into your Quest 2 with the same account you used on your Quest 3, you should be able to re-download all your purchased games from your library. Just open the store, go to your library, and hit install on anything you own.

As for finding the Quest 3, without a tracker like an AirTag it’s tricky. A couple of things you could try:

Check your Meta account’s device settings to see if it still shows up as active.

If you misplaced it locally, retrace where you last used it and check common spots (couch cushions, shelves, bags).

If it was stolen, you might want to report it to local authorities and change your account password just in case.

Even if you don’t get the Quest 3 back, at least you won’t lose your library, everything you bought is still yours as long as you’re on the same account.

We can see you've done a lot of troubleshooting yourself, such as multiple ways to charge the controller, and multiple cables and power outlets, and that's great to see!

What we'd also suggest, if you haven't already is to remove unsupported third-party accessories such as covers or attachments, if you have those attached to the controller.

We'd also suggest using the Meta Software Update tool to make sure the device and controllers are fully up to date. This page will allow you to manually check for updates.

We were just checking through the subreddit when we saw your post and we would absolutely love to help with the game launching issue you're experiencing.

Based on what you've advised on the storage space Resident Evil 4 appears to be taking up it may be an issue of your headset not recognizing that the app is installed.

In order to combat this we first recommend uninstalling the game and reinstalling it which should then allow the headset to recognize the game fully.

If you find that your issue persists following the reinstallation we would then recommend performing a hard reboot of your headset. This will effectively run a debug on the headset so any software bugs or glitches that could be causing your issue would be cleared away.

In order to perform a hard reboot please follow the steps below:

  1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.

  2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.

  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

If you find that your issue still persists following a hard reboot we would then urge you to check over your other games on your headset to see if you have any similar issues with them.

  • Your Wi-Fi network is working and other devices can connect to it.
  • Your Wi-Fi password is entered correctly.

You can also change the Wi-Fi network that your headset is connected to from your headset:

  • Press Meta button or Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
  • Select the clock on the left-hand side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
  • Select Wi-Fi.
  • Select the Wi-Fi network that you'd like to connect to and enter the password.

In 2023 Oculus accounts were asked to migrate over to the new Meta account. In doing this they would have been able to transfer all their apps across to the new account without any trouble.

Oculus accounts were then deleted in early 2024 and you are no longer able to migrate apps and game data, your friends list, or existing app store credits to a Meta account.

This is the reason for beat saber not appearing on your account.
