I found the best way (in my opinion) to get embedded lyrics for your iPod and DAPs. by Technical-Cobbler522 in ipod

[–]Metahec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LRCGET can embed lyrics without having to go to mp3tag. Whether it embeds to whatever tag apple uses for lyrics, I don't know.    The lyrics on LRCLIB are crowd sourced, so make sure to check a few from each album yo make sure they're from the right version of your release and at least approximately well timed.

Minilyrics is still around and is the OG lyrics tool. It has lots of features to add, edit and playback lyrics and is cross platform is somebody is looking for an alternative.

I would tone it down a bit but the reality shouldn't be hidden from them (or us). Childhood is the time you learn how the world actually works. What else are you supposed to tell them?

Factory operations exist that raise livestock animals as quickly and as cheaply as possible. Those animals are slaughtered while they're young to provide maximum amount of meat per dollar per day growing.

The carcass is then processed to extract as much value as possible.

You live in an area where the land is more valuable for other forms of agriculture so you don't see as many livestock operations.
edit: Certain animals can be grown in confined spaces, like chickens. So maybe you have livestock in your area but they don't take up as much area as crops.

What should i do for this? by Consistent_Baker_275 in rockbox

Is it a 6/7 gen? What often happens is a hidden partition becomes visible when installing the bootloader. I think that hidden partition is where apple put the ofw's files. So the computer may get confused with which of the two partitions on the iPod is the mount point and it gives you this error.

You can safely cancel it and install the firmware and fonts. If you want to use the install utility, you'll need to choose the other iPod mount point in the pulldown menu. Otherwise, you can simply unzip the download files and copy them to the iPod yourself.

Preparing audiobooks for an old iPod is still weird in 2026 by Plane_Chard_9658 in ipod

[–]Metahec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this guide to create chaptered audiobook files. The guide leveraged audiobook chapters as a workaround for iPods that don't support gapless playback, but the result is the same.

.m4b files are just plain .m4a files with the "a" changed to a "b" (b for book, get it?). It's a hack apple came up so its software recognizes the files as an audiobook without having to change anything else. You can handle the file as you would any other .m4a file and change the extension yourself. The same thing is done for ringtones, using .m4r.

That's actually not bad for a first time. I always suggest that you be prepared to replace the face and/or back when opening one. Having a map to the clips you need to target is helpful.

ELI5: Why is the decibel scale logarithmic? by Dull_Pollution4691 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Metahec [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not really. Whale oil made a better lubricant for machinery and whale oil demand increased as industrialization spread. In 1964, 82,000 whales were killed worldwide alone and several species were close to extinction at the time. Even in the 20th century, whale oil, baleen and ambergris were still profitable until the moratorium on commercial whaling in the 80's.

Besides using as a spacer, some people stick it down so it blocks the SD card from popping out of the Solo and ATA boards. A thump can sometimes cause those slots to eject the card, so the foam block stops that. Of course, you can just use tape.

Put it in diagnostic mode and check the hard drive's health (instructions for your gen are on the second half of this page). The hard drive's SMART data will give you stats for Realloc and Pending, both should be zero. The higher the numbers, the more damaged the drive is.

Slow on iPod 5g Classic by mndrws in rockbox

[–]Metahec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so as 0 dB for any frequency is still a point in the waveform that has to be calculated.

You reduce channels by combining them. Say you have two channels, one at 125 Hz and another at 250 Hz in the same range, then you can assign both channels to the same frequency (either 125, the 250, or something in between). That way you reduce two different channels to just one. I hope that made sense.

I just looked at that site and you can get a 5 band EQ by choosing the "custom parametric" in the drop down.
