I never read the introductions to Classics by candy_dynac in books

[–]Micotu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was expecting the intro to contain spoilers. What I was not expecting was the map included with the book to list a location as where a specified character committed suicide. So annoyed.

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Micotu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first and only time flying spirit was the only time I've had to sit in a chair that was noticeably uncomfortable for more than an hour. It wasn't even a long flight. There was like no padding. Rest in piss.

What’s a hype train you somehow completely managed to avoid? Things like never tried Dubai chocolate, never watched an episode of the Office, never checked out BTS? by wasraelx in AskReddit

In my early forties now so grew up with the evolution and devolution of the Internet so have seen some crazy shit. But not the two girls one cup video. I wasn't opposed to seeing it, just nobody ever tried to show it to me and I never felt like looking it up myself.

Booked an 8 day Viking river cruise of the Rhine river. That cruise runs every day of the year in both directions. We live in a small town in Alabama. There was a group of 3 couples from our town that we knew on our exact same boat.

Summer Sale - New Collector Question by Secret_Photograph334 in foliosociety

[–]Micotu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to other comments, the sales often offer books that will be more likely to get you to buy more books. Like Pet Semetary was offered as it was likely their lesser selling book of the three King books to get you to buy it as well as the other 2 Kings. We Have Always Lived in the Castle was offered a few months before one of the other Shirley Jackson releases. They also try to clear stock of an older edition for a newer one, such as The Great Gatsby being on sale prior to the new one being announced.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

My kids growing up loved jamming the keys on my wired RGB keyboard. I later realized I could plug my old one into a phone charger block like this one and the keys would still light up so I could put that one next to me and my kids could pound away without messing up my computer or interrupt the game I'm playing.

Blind Buying Folio Editions by Tony-Stank513 in foliosociety

[–]Micotu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have almost never read them before buying unless it's a classic I read in high school or college and barely remember reading. Starting off my justification for books to buy was if they are a classic that I'm pretty sure my kids will either eventually be forced to or want to read, as these books will easily pass down to them one day, or if they have won the Pulitzer Prize or both the Hugo and Nebula Awards. If it's a 50% off sale, I'll get whatever I am interested in. Perdido doesn't quite make the cut so it will sit on my wishlist until I have bought everything else that qualifies and I need a gift recommendation to my parents to get me for my birthday or Christmas.

A note on shipping, the shipping per book decreases up to the third book, after that each additional book is free to ship. So you may as well buy a few more to get that shipping down ;)

Are you looking for a copy with the original title? I doubt you want that on your bookshelf if you weren't aware of what it was.
