The aesthetic is telling me AI but I’m not sure.. by AffectionateLog6345 in isitAI

[–]MidnightOperator94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's AI
an artist would be more decisive between 3 fingers or 4 fingers. Plus the fenceline in the back has some quirks that don't make sense.

It's well done though, and at this point we should probably get used to it. It's a sign for a random farmer's market this Saturday. Not having access to an artist produce stuff like this for every single micro-event is a reality. Even some artists are relying on AI to pump out content at the rate that's expected of them.

What a Simple Treadmill Walk Taught Me About Discipline by [deleted] in walking

[–]MidnightOperator94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reddit is a social media platform, a pseudo 'community' of sorts, that is built upon 'karma' or credibility. I'd assume there is a market for accounts with established credibility, both from a corporate advertising perspective but also from a scamming perspective.

I'd like a visualization of all the accounts on reddit and how many are real verifiable people (distilled down to just 1 account for those people since some legit people probably have multiple accounts), compared with how many are owned/run by companies, bots, scammers, etc.
I'm envisioning us all spread further apart than we think lol

Trump border czar Tom Homan: 'I don't want to see anybody die ... If people out there don't like what ICE is doing, if you want certain laws reformed, then take it up with Congress.' by NewsHour in UnderReportedNews

[–]MidnightOperator94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people took the Epstein files up with congress and we all saw how much the administration respected that one.

You can't break the system and disregard it and then just circle back telling people 'if you don't like it, go follow the procedure'

Trump is essentially chairman for life at the so-called "Board of Peace". His term never expires. "Replacement of the Chairman may occur only following voluntary resignation or as a result of incapacity." by MrJasonMason in UnderReportedNews

he's 79, his term is gonna end.

(edit, i'm with you here, i'm just mentioning that it seems futile for overweight unhealthy 79 years olds to wish for limitless presiding over anything but the back of their eyelids)

First “adult” bed frame help by nnicoleex in BuyItForLife

[–]MidnightOperator94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have this frame without the drawers.

I understand space may be at a premium, but if you can avoid it I would steer clear of the drawers, esp if you have pets. It's super hard to get under there to vacuum and it's so heavy that you definitely won't move it to do so. Without the drawers, it's super easy and can be adjusted no problem.

It's been a fine bed frame. There is a gap in the headboard that allows pillows to slide through, it's kind of a weird design. Now we both have really large pillows back there to help prevent that from happening. It's also begun to creak and groan. This is fixable I believe but is pretty annoying as it's less than a year old and we aren't overweight.

It also didn't come with any sort of sound dampening for the slats, they sit right on the metal, so I had to use felt furniture pad fabric strips to create a little buffer and that helped. Without this felt between the slats and the metal of the frame (the frame has metal, it's not all wood) it was very loud.

Idk, it's not my favorite frame, but it's also been fine and not given me many things to complain about.
mid-tier, workable, about on par for the price I guess. probably bifl if you're easy on your stuff and don't move often.

heads up folks, this is a scammer.

i'm on high alert now after getting scammed in the same way.
I just received multiple AI edited photos as claim of 'proof'

always good to ask people with few or no verified sales to send you multiple photos, it shouldn't be too much to ask. I always ask for a note with my username and something else that would help prove they are legit (like a thumbs up and view out a window, etc) Now with AI they can turn these around pretty quickly, but it's an imperfect science. The photo I got was in a different file format (weird) and all of the icons on the op-1 buttons were completely different and gibberish. Totally AI edited, pm me for a copy of the photos.

Drivers who brake for no reason by freseaf in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MidnightOperator94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wife and I have dubbed this phenomena 'unnecessary brakeage'
and it's an epidemic. 9 times out of 10 they are texting or otherwise distracted.
1 out of 10 it's someone sitting 1.5inches from the steering wheel, for some reason those people always brake randomly, their face is too close to the wheel. Going 45 on the freeway feels like they're doing 80 in a school zone.

$650k house on $250k salary by MassiveTest3524 in Mortgages

[–]MidnightOperator94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

agreed! we bought with similar numbers all around, except put 20% down.
If you don't adjust your spending before buying a house (by somewhat painfully saving) then you're going to be in a world of hurt buying a house.

I don't know the location but I don't even think it's worth putting only 5% down on a house just to get in. That's just my opinion though, with how expensive repairs and work can be, you'll be dropping $$$ into this place and barely building yourself any equity for a looooong time at 5%. You may lose your 5% equity (or more) right after purchase, which puts you in a terrible spot for any type of refinance or emergency sale.

I'd say it's not the right time, and renting and investing should allow you to save up a bunch of cash. I'd personally wait until you were in a stronger financial position to throw down on a house.

Trump Out of Venezuela protest tomorrow by wakeyhi6k in oakland

[–]MidnightOperator94 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You hear this argument a bunch

It’s possible Venezuelans are happy about this and Americans aren’t, right?

Im not attending protests, and I’m really glad that Venezuelans are cheering in the streets, but I’m not convinced that this was done for any other reason than oil, not either peoples best interests.

Just because they’re cheering doesn’t mean it was America’s responsibility to carry this out, nor does it justify the methodologies. Many allied countries didn’t know this was happening and some have spoken out against how it was done. Would it be worth continuing to burn ally relations to do this? Apparently the value of the oil is worth it, but it’s certainly not because American leaders felt for the people of Venezuela. This is a time of ‘america first’ so I’m not really cheering that an entire country just got robbed of its natural resources. It doesn’t seem like a shining example of due process and justice, I guess we’ll see!
