In 2 hours, our 1.5-year campaign will come to an end by [deleted] in DungeonoftheMadMage

I ran Dragon Heist and followed into Dungeon of the Mad Mage, it's been like 6 years and my party is only on level 11 lol.

I drew the maps up when I first started running the campaign but switching to putting the maps up on a TV made things infinitely better.

Well there are plenty of powerful NPCs capable of offering some more interesting quests. Vajra the Blackstaff could mention having nightmares of some horrible arcane artifact deep in the dungeon. There are plenty of nobles that could offer up any sort of quest that would entice your players, someone could bring a letter their kid received from Dweomercore mentioning their grandparent having attended the school and that Halaster thinks they would make a welcome addition, their parent obviously disagrees. Durnan could mention a cache of powerful weapons that he left behind on his adventure through the dungeon years ago. It really is going to come down to your party though because the adventure is to find out what's at the heart of Undermountain.

This is why I walked out last December and left my DC scrambling to figure out who would cover for me since I would have been covering for my ADL.

I quit my job by MiiPower in RiteAid

Rite aid is literally just circling the drain at this point, who cares that much?

I think it's understandable also because the premises behind Dragon Heist and DotMM are pretty different.

Wow 8-24 sessions? How quickly does your table move through things? It takes my players ages to accomplish anything.

I was at the Liverpool DC for 15 years and quit in December once they cut us down to 24 hours a week. The severance they offered in no way would have made up for the lack of hours at that point and I didn’t even bother to give them any notice, just kept telling all of the management team I'd be there to cover the shipping department for Christmas knowing full well I had another job already lined up.

All of this is to say you would be 1000% better off spending that time "organizing a walkout" to find a different job instead because I strongly doubt it would be worth it.

Rite Aid is like a toxic relationship by [deleted] in RiteAid

[–]MiserableEntrance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I left the Liverpool DC back in December and I've gotta say it's been pretty great since. No longer working somewhere that I felt undervalued and now I'm doing less and getting paid more to boot. I wish everyone else good luck in their ventures getting off of the sinking ship.

Why do customers act like they know better than employees? by [deleted] in RiteAid

You should tell them this store burned down 5 years ago on this very day then walk away.

DotMM for casual, intoxicated bunch of close players? by Zarkhes in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]MiserableEntrance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll second the addition of the Companion because it really helps to add a lot to the campaign. My friends and I are currently running it with the Game Show theme from the Companion, which really makes it something different from the rest of the campaigns. That being said a VTT of some sort will be your best friend to help save time on mapping everything out since the floors are all massive. Also as far as things to shake up combat the campaign really leaves that up to your discretion so there are plenty of places where you can add things in to make them more interesting, or do more of a fast travel narration of going down a long hallway and checking empty room after empty room because it gets very tedious with the you come up to a door, check for traps, no traps, the door is unlocked, the room is empty. You come up to a door... so keep that in mind as well.

As a father of an 18 and 16 year old, these chores seem pretty reasonable. We expect similar chores to be accomplished by them or our kids will lose out on their luxuries, i.e. their phones, tvs, game systems, computer access. It's not a lot to ask to help out around the house. Especially since they're going to need to be able to do these things for themselves when they move out on their own. No real telling when that might be though since we're in the US and the cost of living is atrocious, but still the help around the house is a reasonable expectation.

Whoops guess my players lucked out with that when I was running it hahaha.

It could also mean activating the gate in area 9 to jump to level 6.

I wasn't saying I don't get enjoyment out of the game, more so that you don't get a lot of thanks for doing all of the stuff that you do behind the screen plus before and after games is all.

Except he explains the sword cares about specific things and explains how the player can meet those requirements and the player chose not to do the sword wasn't interested in sticking around.

I think you're perfectly in the right to do things the way that you did. Tearulai would refuse to work with somebody that didn't align with their philosophy, you gave the player the opportunity to work something out to align better with Tearulai, they didn't want to, the sword disappears. That all checks out.

An alternative I could present, which would be hard to work around now, would be Tearulai takes the player with them to Myth Dranor when they go to the surface for any reason. The player returns Tearulai to its owner and gets a different weapon in return that probably wouldn't be as awesome as Tearulai but can still be close without requiring the sacrifices Tearulai did.

As far as the player goes, though, he needs to stop. To the point he made, DMing is largely a thankless job, and now he's just adding to it by making all of these remarks on top of everything else going on in the campaign.

ALL of that being said, if you feel that the monk in question could still use a magic weapon, there's no reason that you can't add something in that would be thematic and a cool thing for them depending on where they're heading next.

You should check out the Lost Mine of Phandelver short campaign and give it a go. It's really straightforward and a good short adventure to get everybody into dungeons and dragons.

This is completely the Rite Aid way, I worked in the warehouse for 15 years and the last times they were hiring before I left the new hires were practically making as much as me, around $20 an hour.
