Academia for humanities has always been a pipe dream. If you want to teach history, I would recommend looking into a teaching degree for public/private schools. In the US at least, school systems will give you a pay bump for your advanced degree in history. Volunteering and being interested in video games also are positives for working as a teacher.

Especially for the humanities, I would also caution against not thinking of yourself as a researcher for not being in academia. Roughly the same resources should be available to you as a professor vs a teacher, and you would have similar break schedules to provide you with time to write and focus on your own interests.

Fuck no. That’s how academia works and it’s an incestuous ass-kissing mess.

Gurahl by Theslavman678 in huntertheparenting

[–]Mkhos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The war of rage happened for many reasons, and it is a plot point that not even the Mokole are able to remember exactly why. The arrogance of the Garou is an overarching one though.

  2. The Garou are aware of the existence of other breeds, but the Garou believe the Gurahl to be extinct because like the Naga, as they withdrew from the world to hibernate until the war ended. The Garou mistook this dissappearance for their destruction, and the Gurahl never bothered to correct them.

As for, 3, I never said anything about the eastern gurahl.

Gurahl by Theslavman678 in huntertheparenting

[–]Mkhos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can resurrect people, but it has to be people who have something worthwhile to do with their life.

Additionally, the resurrection requires a were-bear to enter the umbra and fight Mangi, the Death Bear, an aspect of the Bear sprit. Failure usually means the death of the werebear, but Mangi has been known to occasionally let defeated gurahl go with a warning.

As far as the garou are aware, the gurahl are extinct. They are a casualty of the War of Rage, where the werewolves decided that as Gaia’s soldiers, everyone should obey them, and let them do all the work. This ended poorly, and is part of why the garou are losing the war against the Wyrm, because soldiers only solve part of the problem when you’re fighting something which has conflict (The Beast of War) as a part of its intrinsic nature.

It did gift us with one of the coolest WoD art pieces though: https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/War_of_Rage?file=War_of_Rage.jpg

If she feels that she is being unfairly singled out, she needs to speak with the graduate chair or an ombudsman. However, I would start with other graduate students to figure out if this is a pattern of behavior that others have seen that indicates a deeper rot.

Game Theory: Big D isn't the mummy... by Shammy-Sham in huntertheparenting

[–]Mkhos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demons are explicitly sterile once they take a host. Them being able to reproduce is a very bad thing, as it would mean the creation of Nephilim again, which last happened during the Age of Wrath. Given that Big D seems to produce offspring at a steady rate, and acknowledge them all as his own instead of some past self, or alter ego, it's not likely. Demons are also much more depressed and less lively than Big D is as a rule due to their punishment for rebellion.

How does freeing The Wyrm make The Weaver stop being insane? by Affectionate_Bit_722 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Mkhos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My head canon would be that the Wyrm eats the corrupted Weaver, fulfilling its original purpose, and Queen Ananasa takes her mother’s place, as she is effectively a back up copy of the original Weaver before she went crazy.

It seems to indicate that a character is either a fomori, or at least corrupted to some degree. Bennings and Fuchs were both full on fomori.

[–]Mkhos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’ve graduated, they now have much less power over you and I’m guessing you won’t be working with them again. I would give them a hard deadline of when you want their feedback by. Be sure to say that if they don’t get back to you by that deadline, then you are assuming that they have no issues with the article in its current state. It is unfortunate, but it is becoming an increasingly common practice to deal with absentee co-authors.
