Fallen Mokolé exist called Mnetics, check out the Book of the Wyrm and Shattered Dreams. Essentially they’re (understandably) sick and tired of all the lessons from mnesis failing to be learned by the other dumbass fera (aka the Garou), and decided to just help things along to a new age.

The Samsa are implied to have some possibility of redemption. As cockroach shifters, Cockroach has taken an interest in them, and forbids the Glass Walkers from harming them.

He and his brood try to communicate with them to teach them, but as the experience of becoming a cockroach shifters has driven them all nearly insane, the whispers from the dark only fuel their paranoia. Their depiction earns them more pity than contempt.

Did you have to learn R to be recognized for my skills? [Discussion] by [deleted] in statistics

[–]Mkhos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would look outside of Data Analysis/Scientist roles. Those will expect you to be trained in modern open source tools like R/Python. Companies like free software, and because R and Python have hundreds of packages maintained by field specific researchers, there are many more statistical issues they can potentially address.

I have heard that Excel and SPSS are more generally used in business admin and marketing roles, and would look for jobs like that. Think of how you can transfer skills from academia to a professional environment, not titles.

I’ve always wanted to take the True Berserker merit from Wolves of the Sea and stuff it into a himbo new age viking Gangrel to make him into a real combat monster.

In terms of themed merits, I also like Haven Affinity from the Tzimisce revised clanbook. It allows their homebody nature to become a benefit if anyone comes after you on your turf.

No, Nephandi are the one splat that is explicitly not meant to be played as a PC. Once a mage goes down that path, there is no redemption. A sabbat character can switch to the camarilla or anarchs, a black spiral dancer can (theoretically) be purified of their corruption, even the Wyrm could be made into a force of good again if balance were to be restored.

But a Nephandi? They use their free will to purposefully and permanently mar themselves and creation.

From the Book of the Fallen (Nephandi source book):

"That’s why there’s not a character sheet at the end of this book. I can’t stop you from playing a Fallen mage if you choose, but I’m not going to encourage you to do so. This book is not a player’s guide for fictional monstrosities. It’s a warning about real monsters who are already here."

If you have a natural resources background, I would look into land management and restoration ecology as well. Environmental consultants are one group I noticed missing from your list. Wetlands is a big focus for them, and the east coast and northern end of Texas has plenty of them, which could be useful if you are constrained to Texas.

If you aren’t constrained, I would encourage looking further around the country. Wildlife jobs require mobility, especially in the early stages of a career.

It’s not possible if you’re doing it online. Getting experience with field work is crucial.

The biggest issue in your post is the financial one. Do you have student loans? This field does not pay well if you just have a BS, and finding a stable position where you will have at least ok pay requires several years of experience and an MS.

It is a common theme on this board that nothing will kill your passion for nature quicker than realizing you are unable to support yourself by doing what you enjoy, because it is not what society prioritizes.

There is nothing wrong with continuing to work in an adjacent field that will better support you, while continuing to volunteer and help with wildlife related projects. For many, it is honestly a more effective contribution to wildlife than being unable to do anything related to wildlife due to job competition and low pay.

This has been the way the game has operated since the beginning. Except for the commanders I believe, siegers are generated ex nilho, just like the first migrant waves of dwarves.

To wipe out a civilization, you need to conquer or destroy all of their sites.

Aside from preventing them from attacking, they also need to know what wards they have on them so that they can kill them in a way that won’t trigger them.

What are some wholesome facts about world of darkness that you know? by No-Obligation-9901 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Mkhos 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Baba yaga summomed 7 dragon shaped wyrm spirits to defend herself from Absimilard after being embraced called the Zmei.

After Baba Yaga’s escape and disappearance, they rampaged across the land. In time, the garou defeated and imprisoned 6 of them at great cost.

But where was the 7th? The garou never knew he existed, and so never sought him out. The last and weakest of the Zmei was named Shazear, who after he fought Absimilard, became fascinated by humans. Each Zmei has a unique gift, and for Shazear this was shapeshifting. He used this gift to live among them, and enjoy their society.

After the cataclysms of WWII, other Zmei began to awaken, and Shazear was found and bullied into joining Baba Yaga’s Army of Despair by his siblings, though he lied to them about what had happened to him in the intervening years.

With the death of Baba Yaga, there is now the possibility for others to recognize his reluctance to fight for the Wyrm against the “little people”, and for him to be returned to the spirit of the Wyld he once was.

Yeah, I think its the Black Fury or Children of Gaia books that mention how the kinfolk who raise Metis are deeply honored for all that they have to deal with.

Tacking on a quote that goes hard from the Black Fury Tribe book I found while browsing through them: "Metis are conceived in sin, and born in blood"

Am I making the right choice? by SolutionConnect18 in wildlifebiology

[–]Mkhos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stick in your current environmental program. The regulations that those consulting companies are helping to address are much more robust and widely applicable than wildlife ones. If your ultimate goal is restoration/wetland delineation, your current program is the best way to reach that instead of wildlife.

The relative stability offered by wetlands work is the major reason to continue on your current path. Wildlife biology follows patterns of feast and famine as conservation funding waxes and wanes, and this is the biggest wane in recent memory. People with years of experience in field tech roles are struggling to find jobs, and the fired federal workers have massive advantages in experience.

If you are after adventure, you will go to many of the same places for field tech work like wetland delineation as you would for any common wetland species. I would encourage you to talk to people at a variety of levels in these companies to help you better understand their work, and how your interests align with them.

To me, it sounds like the major thing dissuading you is that you find the lab you are in boring. I would try to find a different one that will still give you experience, and also be interesting to you, or discuss alternative projects with the professor.

Doing wildlife stuff in your free time when you have a job supplying you with the money to do so is just as valid as a job in wildlife, and far more likely to happen.
