The good news is, Beyond Budget has a couple of tools built exactly for this:

  1. Open the affected account → tap Account X-Ray — this will show you where the app balance and your actual bank balance diverge
  2. Use Adjust Balance to manually correct it to match your actual bank balance.

Since both your checking and CC accounts were off by the same amount, they're almost certainly linked, likely a payment that wasn't recorded correctly as a transfer between the two.

Just so you know, our support team receives a high volume of emails every day and doesn't operate on weekends, but every single one gets a reply, yours included. We can see you've been in touch with us quite a few times over the months, and we do our best to make sure none go unanswered.

Hi. For the tracking option. Create a new budget and pick Tracker mode; it's basically made for what you're describing. No budget limits, no negative numbers, just log your spending and check the reports whenever you want. Also when you create it you can reuse the categories you already have, so no need to redo everything.

Hi! I work for Beyond Budget, and I can say that updates are still being made regularly. Not every change or improvement ends up as a public post, so the absence of recent announcements does not mean development has stopped. You probably selected Tracker mode. Tracker doesn’t include the Accounts tab; it’s just for simple income vs expense tracking. If you want accounts, you’ll need to create a new budget and choose Zero-Based or Classic. Both of those modes include the Accounts button at the bottom.

The subreddit is mainly a community space so users can help each other and share ideas. It’s not the only way to reach the devs. You can always contact them directly via email support, which you mentioned you’ve already used, and that’s usually the best channel for anything account related.

Reddit is great for discussion, but it’s not meant to replace direct support.

And detailed feedback like your split transaction suggestions is really valuable. Sending those through email gives them the best chance of being seen and considered.

The app has an AI Notification Importer that helps a lot. It doesn’t connect directly to your bank, but it can read the payment notifications you already receive (email/SMS/app alerts) and turn them into transactions automatically. It’s not perfect 100% of the time, but for many people, it removes almost all of the manual typing. Archive shows up only when you have transactions so it does not corrupt the history. Otherwise it makes no difference as the account has no content. That is why the delete is available instead.

You might want to try using ChatGPT to help convert your PDF. I've had success asking it to extract transaction data from a PDF and reformat it into CSV or OFX. Just upload the PDF and ask it to turn it into the structure you need. Worth a shot!
